Have zero improvement in yard condition…

Have zero improvement in yard condition after 2 years of the service, weeds everywhere, patchy or no growth. Always on the upsell, never coming through with any quality on the original work. Aerated lawn with no warning, cannot even tell it was done, when asking to be removed from "upsell list", yes it is a thing was removed from all communication so was unable to prepare for work done. Save your money, do it yourself or find a different group.

I feel sure this company is a sham!

I feel sure this company is a sham! I would give this company no zero's if it were possible. I requested service after spring seasons so my treatments would be post-season for weeds in my lawn. I agreed to this and opened an account. The 1st treatment smelled strong and possibly contains green dye because when I called, their tech asked if my lawn looked greener!? Well, it was already green so... I have outdoor cameras and was able to look at where the tech had applied treatment and the tech didn't spray my backyard at all. I called about this and a tech returned and somewhat sprayed the area. The weeds did not die. I called Truegreen and complained and was told a 2nd treatment was necessary to kill stubborn weeds. But when the tech came back for the 2nd treatment, the note he left me stated he had actually fertilized lawn and didn't apply anymore broad weed killer and that didn't even work! So, I called and cancelled my account, I paid for the 2nd application, (fool me twice, my expense) and I requested my payment information be removed from their system. What a farse!

I have been with True Green since 2000…

I have been with True Green since 2000 on a rental property. Every year I have paid in full as I did on 09/09/2024. I just noticed a charge on my account for $81.42 for a potassium application which I did not request. In addition on the date of application the service invoice only indicated fertilizer applied.

Waste of money lots of weeds and diseased trees

I paid for a service contract up front for lawn and shrub care. During the year the weeds have never disappeared infact they are worse, and I lost over 8 trees to disease. The service is not thorough. Even after calling customer service to enquire how many treatments I had left I still got charged an extra $600 dollars which is non refundable for visits that they stated were re visits for the poor service. Do not waste your money

I hired this company to fix my St. Augustine

I hired this company to fix my St. Augustine grass. Enough to say that it was a big letdown after the little grass that I had left died, and the plugs they placed did nothing. When I called and asked what had happened, they couldn't provide an answer and simply evaded the question, never sending anyone out to check. Instead, they sent a truck to water the grass and kept charging me for a job that was not being done. Horrible company, look for something else, or "YouTube" certify yourself and do it, trust me, it's cheaper and you will do a way better job than this company.

TOTAL RIP

These people don't give a dang and my lawn has never looked worse. Oh sure it's green, but it's riddled with persalaine, crabgrass, clover, you name it. The weeds are a beautiful green too.

They've had a year to fix my lawn and I have no idea what they do, really, I wish I could post pictures.

SO disappointing.

My neighbor had some work done with…

My neighbor had some work done with true green lawn care and the employee parked in front on my house! Not my neighbors. Then proceeded to drive all over my lawn. Left ruts and mud marks. I called the company. They didn't seem to give a crap about the situation. The employee dumped some seed on the ground and said that would fix it. This company is irresponsible and I would stay away!

1 Star is 1 Star too many

First let me say I hve been a cusomter for over 7rs. Since then services has gotten worse. The last two have seen the biggest decline. The service people are overworked and most seem to lack basic knowledge. Frist example last year I was told my lawn was destroyed due to the drought, then I was told the problem was really from cinch bugs. Tru Green said whoops , we will offer you overseeding and aeroation, Even though i watered daily nothing grew. Found out it was bad seed. Go to this year Two weeks ago my lawn had a weed treatment I pointed out areas of crab grass, I was told there wasnt much of it and the treament would take care of it. Two weeks later my lawn is mostly Crab Grass, and dirt. Pay more and find a service that cares

Trugreen has disabled my registration

Trugreen has disabled my registration. Cannot seem to enable it. Preventing payment and account review and confirmation of amounts due by me, the customer. Interesting to note, my incoming phone call to the customer service identified me immediately, however, historic payment information was unavailable and time waiting was excessive. Feedback options on the website required signing in. Impossible. Once I do have the time to deal with this b-sh.t later, I will be severing all ties with this more than twenty-year relationship. Your new add campaigns are clever. Time and energy devoted to making a service failure program look slick and cool. Lipstick on a pig.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware! All their services are auto renew and they are violating RI law by not giving "clear and conspicuous disclosure" and getting "affirmative consent". We weren't told verbally or in writing about this auto renewal. Not responding to a notice is not consent. Here's my story. Trugreen came to our house and performed an aeration and overseeding service. We didn't request it. They charged us $500. I called the company and they said that because we requested the service last year we agreed to an auto renewal. They say all of their services are auto renew. We were never informed. RI law says they have to notify us of an upcoming renewal. We never received anything from them. They respond that they have copies of what was sent on file. That doesn't prove that it was sent or that we received it. Here is a summary of RI laws concerning auto renewal;
Clear and conspicuous disclosure of terms: Businesses must clearly disclose the terms of the automatic renewal offer, including the duration of the renewal and price changes, before the consumer agrees.
Affirmative consent: Consumers must provide affirmative consent to the auto-renewal terms before being charged.
Acknowledgement of terms and cancellation policy: Businesses must provide consumers with a retainable acknowledgment of the terms and clear instructions on how to cancel. If there's a free trial, cancellation instructions must be provided, and cancellation must be allowed before charging.
Renewal notice: In certain situations, such as a free trial over 31 days or a promotional price over 31 days, businesses must send a notice stating the service will renew, the renewal terms, ways to cancel, and contact information. Let me repeat, the highlights are "clear and conspicuous disclosure" and "affirmative consent". There is nothing on their website that mentions auto renewal of all their services. IF they sent a notice, NOT responding to a notice is not consent. People need to know that. To add to the error they performed the service while we are under watering restrictions due to a drought! It's doomed to failure. It's not supposed to be done until LATE August, early September at best! Trying to get a refund you get rerouted through a maze of phone lines and can't talk to anyone local. We talked to someone in Trinidad! He offered us half our money back. I refused. I want it all back. It's the wrong time of year, we can't water it. We have an auto renewal policy for our oil delivery. Santoro Oil call us and sends a letter every year and asks us to confirm that we want to continue. That's what good service looks like. I filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Unit of the State Attorney General and wrote to the consumer protection division of two television stations. I'm going to spread the word until I get a full refund. Trust Pilot is next and then every review site I can find. John, Narragansett RI

Great at first but Failing the last 2 years.

The first 2 years with them my lawn looked Great ! Last year it was horrible but we didn't get much rain so I can kind of understand why. This year I didn't Pre-Pay for the year but because I didn't I've had to call and ask them to come out twice to service my lawn. I shouldn't have to do that ! I left a message a few days ago & they still haven't responded. No text or email. The Gentleman that does my yard who's name is Paul Is Fantastic. The rest of you leave something to be desired. My lawn looks So ,So this year. I'm seriously considering dropping them next year. My Brother had them and did drop them.

After four applications from TruGreen

After four applications from TruGreen, my lawn looked worse than when they started. I had multiple people evaluate the condition, and I was told it might be grubs or other issues—yet TruGreen had no real answers or solutions.

Eventually, I developed rust grass and decided to cancel the service. I took matters into my own hands and reached out to a local commercial landscaping company. They gave me excellent insight and recommended a proper fertilizer.

Despite TruGreen telling me to “give it time” since the yard hadn't been fertilized in a few years, I followed the new advice—and within three weeks of applying the recommended fertilizer, my lawn was deep green and thriving. After three applications, it’s fuller than ever. What was once the worst lawn on the block is now the best-looking yard in the neighborhood.

In my opinion, TruGreen’s products seem ineffective—maybe watered down—and I’ve noticed similar poor results from others nearby who also use their service.

Would not recommend. It was a simple fix, but their treatments never delivered results.

Just say no ... 1.5 reviews after 5,000 + reviews ... need a negative number to rate them by

Too bad the reviews don't offer a negative number ratings ! Set up account to only spay "fertilizer/weed killer". A person was supposed to come out prior to first spraying to determine weed types in yard and grass type to determine type of chemicals to use... Didn't happen ! Instead TruGreen showed up unannounced and sprayed spraying that included 2 type of insect control that were never requested each at a $50 cost. Total bill was $150 instead of the $50 agreed to. They did correct this. Finally scheduled a person to come by and view yard for weeds and grass type, for 7/28/25 (today)... they just no showed .. said they couldn't fit it in the schedule, mind you that it was scheduled the week prior on 7/24/25... Why wasn't I told this then ? Rather than sitting around all day waiting. Seems the overall rating of 1.5 after 5,000+ reviews is very, very accurate. Too bad as their prices seemed very reasonable ... as that saying goes... you get what you pay for, except seems with TruGreen you don't even get it !

Worst customer service I’ve ever…

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Technicians are great. Products are horrible. I signed up for a season’s package at the beginning of the season describing exactly what I wanted chemicals in the front natural in the back the technicians proceeded to come out and treat the lawn by the second visit. My lawn looked really bad so I called to complain and they sent a technician out to retreat the lawn nothing changed. I called again every time I call I get a different rep and I have to explain my package to them and then finally I get a technician tells me I don’t have chemicals and I need a waiver because I live in New York. Meanwhile, they’ve already been treating my lawn with chemicals that I paid for this went on for weeks. One Customer Service Rep said he was going to email me a waiver form and get it cleared up and that waiver form never showed up. I called again and again every time spending hours on the phone explaining What has happened to this point and finally had enough of wasted time and my lawn is now looking horrendous with overgrown weeds and crab grass and called again asking for a supervisor to call me and another week went by no call back from ANY Supervisor. I called again for a supervisor another week went by no phone call. I called demanding a refund on my money and they decided to give me 1/3 of what I paid and still no supervisor. And a supervisor is the only one who can refund your full amount and that’s why they don’t call me..

I have been using these people for a…

I have been using these people for a couple of years. The previous homeowner used them as well. Sales rep came to my house the other day and told me I had some nutsedge that they could take care of. Few days later the tech came out and treated the lawn. Three days later I still hav a heavy chemical smell. And a large portion of my property is now brown. Not just the nutsedge, GOOD GRASS is also cooked. Sent pictures to the rep, but he basically told me they could come out and do another treatment. Sure throw some more chemical on top of what you already killed. No thanks. I’m going to cancel them. Please PLEASE do yourself a favor and don’t hire these people. I basically spent $277.00 for someone to come out and destroy my lawn.

Trugreen needs a math lesson

Spent over $400 on 5 treatments and my yard looks worse than when they started. The tech runs through my yard and doesn’t apply anywhere near the amounts they are supposed to apply. The ticket he left said, 1 gallon for every 1000 sq ft, but applied 1.43 gallons. My area as listed on the same ticket is 14281 sq ft. Terrible service

True Green is not the company you want…

True Green is not the company you want to hire for your lawn. They will destroy your lawn and anything good you have on your property. Their own staff coming out - laughing when they see what is being done to our grass. We have a dead lawn! We've used this company for several years. Every time we tried to cancel the service, they would call back bagging for our business, offering big discounts and even offering free services and every year we fall for these offers, at the same time, our lawn was getting worse and more worse. This company should be taken out of business for all the damage they do to people's lawn

Zero isn’t an option

Zero isn’t an option. Called for info. Chris Anderson seemed insightful but wanted my CC number. I wanted to see the paperwork/info first. Not a fan but said OK. Gave home number only but got cell number because email wasn’t coming through. Received a call from him 30 mins later, why haven’t I accepted and paid? Told him I would look over and do it later. Four calls on my home phone yesterday. Two calls to cell phone today with a text too. Three more calls on home phone. All in 24 hours. Responded to Chris that I am no longer interested, don’t deal with high pressure companies. He responded that if I had given him my CC number I wouldn’t be getting the calls. I responded with DO NOT REACH OUT TO ME AGAIN and received a gaslighting 3 screen text how this is all my fault for not paying when he asked. HARASSMENT before I’m even a customer? Giving this review and filing a complaint with the BBB. No idea how they are still in business!! I have the screenshots and will use them if needed.
