Bought a beautiful pair of bamboo hoops. The service was amazing. All queries promptly answered. When my package arrived it was a delight. Lovely scented paper. A sensorial delight. I wear my hoops daily, they bring me such joy and honestly the buying experience has been a huge part of that.

I’ve purchased several vintage and antique items from this company over the years without issue, but my experience with their hard plating service has been disappointing.

A previous order arrived with visible patches of silver still showing through the plating. That was refunded without issue, but unfortunately the same standard slipped again.

More recently, I paid £340 to have a chain hard plated in 9ct gold, with an added dog clip. On arrival, the bale attached to the new clip was visibly twisted. I contacted Rebecca within an hour of delivery - the necklace had not been worn.

While a repair was offered, I was told I would need to cover the return postage, despite this clearly being a finishing fault. The issue was dismissed as “just a very minor aesthetic issue and not a security issue,” which misses the point entirely - at this price level, you expect a properly finished item, not something visibly flawed.

After returning the necklace, I was refunded in full (including the postage that was initially refused). However, I was then instantly blocked on Instagram, which appears to be their primary sales channel.

Blocking a repeat customer for raising a legitimate issue is a particularly poor way to handle complaints. It suggests the business is more interested in avoiding criticism than addressing it and undermines confidence in how issues are handled.

To ensure an accurate portrayal: I was returning a custom piece not because I’m a difficult picky customer, nor because I changed my mind about it on a whim, but because of quality control issues with the gold plating service that left the item with multiple noticeable silver patches and in the second instance, because a clasp was not soldered, with a noticeable twist in it that could interfere with the clasps integrity.

I was absolutely blocked as opposed to restricted.
Screen shots of messages show I was 100% blocked (image posted on Google reviews) - the Trash Lobster account came up as ‘Instagram User’ - this only happens when someone is blocked by another account, not simply restricted for ‘inbox management’.

This was my first Trash Lobster purchase but baby I’ll be back! Couldn’t be happier, absolutely unreal stunner of a chain (dare I say my new fave?) and impeccable customer service. Thank you x1 million!!

Such a lovely buying experience through layaway payment procedure. Made all the better when my beautiful bracelet arrived in its eco packaging at break neck speed once I made my final payment. Honestly would buy again and again, and sadly for my bank balance, I am in the process of doing so ;)

I have bought from Rebecca several times now - one charm and multiple chains. I am always blown away when they arrive and I always end up getting a lot of wear out of them (I cannot stress this enough from someone who often gets bored of her jewellery and moves on. Not so with Rebecca’s chains). Also important to say is she checks her chains thoroughly before selling - sometimes with antique or vintage jewellery you start wearing a chain and find that it kinks or sits not quite right. Rebecca always chooses chains that have a great construction and sit perfectly. Lastly, she is absolutely lovely to deal with. Honestly I’d love it if we could just hang out. A true gem. Cannot recommend enough.

Have purchased from Rebecca 3 times now (twice under the incredible rebrand) and am just always blown away. First, as an American I just assume I won’t see any packages from the UK for at least a month or two, as has been my experience with other sellers in the UK, but somehow, as if by sorcery it’s never more than 2 weeks to get my Trash Lobster goodies. Next she has taught me so so much about jewelry, styles, antique and vintage terminology. The love of the old gold is contagious and I caught the bug. Finally her pricing is incredibly fair. Even with the constant rise in gold price, there is always something for everyone on the site and during her story sales. Truly everyone can shop with Rebecca and find a piece they love without breaking the bank. My favorite!
