I have been a loyal Torga customer for more than 10 years, and Bridgette from Maponya Mall Branch has been absolutely amazing throughout my journey. She has always provided the best customer service with kindness, patience, and professionalism. It is rare to find someone so dedicated and committed to helping customers. Bridgette is truly a valuable member of the Torga team, and I am grateful for all her support over the years.

I wrote a review a while back, about aftersales sevice at torga optical in Jeffreysbay. Having a new pair of glasses made, but still struggled to see, well I'm glad to say, got a call from Torga and my problem was, idenrified, short and sweet, retested, and the problem solved. Thanx guys, I will still always recommend you. Great service, and the best aftersales, customer service. 10/10

I purchased a pair of bifocal glasses from your Northgate branch, but unfortunately, one of the lenses developed what I believe to be a factory defect.

I was extremely disappointed to learn that Torga only offers a measly 30-day warranty on its lenses. As the defect became apparent after this period had expired, I was informed that the faulty lens could not simply be replaced. Instead, I was told that both lenses would need to be remade, provided i paid for the replacement.

I find this policy deeply disappointing. A manufacturing defect is fundamentally different from normal wear and tear, and I believe customers should not be expected to pay to correct a factory fault simply because it was discovered outside an unusually short warranty period.

I expected a far greater commitment to product quality and customer service from Torga.

A warranty should protect customers against manufacturing defects, not merely serve as a 30-day deadline after which responsibility shifts entirely to the customer. This experience has left me questioning both the quality of your products and your commitment to customer satisfaction.

The head office apparently dictates that the first eye test, which I took at the floor to ceiling window facing the street, is not done by the optician. This was dehumanizing. The optician had no empathy whatsoever. I am partially disabled and I had to ask for a safer chair. When I said I'd like to take a break for a few minutes, she said she was on her lunch break, and it would only take a few more minutes. In other words, she said no. When I said she lacked a bedside manner, she deflected it by saying other people think she is fantastic or words to that effect. I walked out. Disgraceful, and brand damage for Torga. 0%.
You cannot find their branch "Torga Optical Table View, Shop 3, Table View Shopping Centre, 86 Blaauwberg Rd, Table View" in your contactus page. I want my xrays and any other information destroyed.

Don't ever consider going to a Torga Branch, rather stick to Spec Savers who are much more affordable and you actually get what you asked and paid for.
Sending a complaint to Torga Customer Care is responded to by their CEO Ian Buchanan who you then think will actually sort your complaint out, but you actually then get palmed off and told that you got what you paid for and offered a 25% discount on your next purchase instead of just resolving the actual complaint. Never in my life will I deal with Torga again.
Update: The response is pathetic, not receiving my invoice for a year after asking numerous times is not the main complaint. My glasses were supposed to have the lenses that go darker in sunlight and confirmed multiple times by them that it would have this, but they most definitely do not but this fact just gets ignored. Why would I even want a 25% discount on my next purchase when I will NEVER deal with Torga again.

I was at Torga vryburg last year to test my eyes and got new glasses. This morning on 27 February 2026 got a call from the lawyers and said I owe Torga R6000 but we have all of it the day i went to get my glasses. Ita very poor services and I will not pay any lawyers fee or any other amount that they said i'm owing. I will never do business again with Torga.

I decided to try Torga Optical for my new glasses terrible decision i have had nothing but problems with my glasses since i received them one and a half yrs ago i had the lenses replaced after a yr as the film came of the lenses and 6 mths later it has happened again to the point they are now useless to wear.

I decided to try Torga as I used them years ago and was always happy with their specials, quality and pricing. As someone who does not earn the hugest salary I was enticed by their advertised specials- they definitely suited my pocket. I checked first with the lady out front about the advertised special- which was below R5000 - if it included bifocals - she said yes. I then proceeded with the eye test, chose lenses and was then hit with a quote of over R15000 for two pairs. Now I had just come from Woolworths where I looked at brand frames for R2000. I really liked a pair of Ralph Lauren frames for R1900. Torgas frames were nowhere near as nice and were almost double the price. I asked if I could then bring my own frames - would the price go down - sadly it went down, but not by much. I was so angry - the specials they advertise are a scam to get you into the shop - i left paying R600 for the eye test and went back to my usual optometrists who are much more reasonable and so accommodating when it comes to my budget. I see now that I definitely dodged a bullet - the complaints about poor quality products from Torga are concerning- especially when their prices are so high. This was Torga Rosebank, but it seems like they are all the same. I actually was very upset by my experience - I will never recommend or go back to Torga.

These glasses i have in 2025 do not work as well as previous lenses from TORGA,they seem to make my eyes tired very quickly were as older glasses don't have this effect.I won't be buying them again especially now just online.oh,and they never managed to adjust frame after a few visits.

Torga optical had the best help I've recieved in all of the years I've been going to optometrists. A big Thank you to Annelie, she's the best, at Torga optical the grove mall and the awesome help at the desk! You guys are stars.

I just want to thank the team of Torga Optical South Mall. They are very caring and kind. They went above and beyond to help my grandmother that needed help for her eyes to be tested at home for new glasses. My grandmother is in her 90's and they treated her with so much care and respect. They are very passionate about what they do and offer their customers. I am very happy with their service; they made a difference in my grandmothers' life. You don't get better service than what they give. Thank you for caring.

I choose a frame that did not work for me... then exchanged for a different pair.... I still was not happy.... lala and the howick staff accommodated me until I was happy service was great that you ladies

I had the worse service at Torga Cleary Park Port Elizabeth, I made my glasses the 3 of March 2025 and only recieved it on the 10th of April 2025. I have paid everything in full on how it was expected to me and was promise 14 working days, never got my glasses on the day I was supposed to and when I phoned they had excuses after excuses what upsets me more was they were laughing at me for being upset. I will never use Torga again and will never recommend it to anyone.

I recently underwent an eye test to obtain my new driver's license at Torga Optical in Carindale. Kim and her team provided excellent service. My prescription had changed, so I needed to order new glasses. My optometrist was extremely diligent and professional. Although I expected to wait 3-4 weeks for my new glasses, they arrived in just two weeks. The fitting process was effortless, and my glasses look and feel terrific. I would definitely recommend Kim and her professional team to anyone in need of optical care.
