Perfect Expereince

After been scammed by Drivalia in Alicante, this car hire from Thrifty at St Beauvais Paris Airport was perfect.

Fast collection, pleasant staff, no hard extra insurance sell and no scam at the end for any fake damage.

The automatic MG provided was a pleasure to drive and the unlimited milage deal left me worry free on my tour of France and Switzerland.

Happy to recommend

thief, voleur

I booked 3 weeks in the United States in Palm Springs via rental car. I gave a deposit on arrival of 500 euros. I returned the vehicle clean, I was told that everything was ok. I arrive in Paris and there, I have the levy of 500 euros for cleaning the vehicle outside. supporting proof on the invoice. it's a theft. I can't say anything that I accept the withdrawal to my bank account. it's disgusting. and Rentalcar does nothing at all. in short, a nice slap in the head where we are helpless. they are thieves, I have never seen this, I travel a lot and reserve rental cars I am 52 years old respectful. I advise you to be very careful and to prefer another serious agency, even Rentalcar is a scandal in after-sales.

Don't use a car voucher scheme with 3rd part and Thrifty

Our Easyjet flight EZS1492 was planned to leave 11:20 BHX and arrive at GVA 14:00, please find attached evidence of flight delay. The pilot said the delay was due to Easyjet staff shortages. The majority of this delay occurred once we were sitting on the plane and boarding. Our flight number was included on our car hire booking. A call to the number on the booking resulted in a looped voice message and ended the call. The booking contract stated that the car hire companies desk opening times were between 08:00 and 22:00 Saturdays, please see attached extract from contract still online and available.

We arrived at Geneva, we split up so my wife collected our baggage and I went to collect the car, I arrived at the car collection desk at 14:55

I found the car hire desk was closed with a temporary opening hours sign, we have a photo of this if it helps, it stated the desk closed at 2pm. Easyjet failed here to align it's car hire booking opening hours Sat – 08.00 – 22.00 with the actual opening hours of the car hire provider of until 14:00pm. We still arrived to collect the car within a reasonable period after planned collection considering the stated opening hours.

We found other people in the same situation, we are in contact with them.

We made many calls to different numbers to try and rectify the situation but we could only get in automatic voice mail loops with finally calls being ended, we finally looked at alternative options to travel to our accommodation, with the only alternative being to hire another car for 1 day and return the next day to collect our originally hired vehicle. The only available from Geneva from Hertz Switzerland. We booked the car for 1 day with the intention of contacting Thrifty / Car Trawler on Sunday to swap.

We then discovered that the Sunday opening times for the Thrifty desk was not as advertised (08.00 – 22.30). They were closed on Sunday too.

On Monday 21st Feb we finally made contact with Car Trawler, they advised us that there was no vehicle availability to return the vehicle and swap it for our original booking therefore we had no alternative but to extend the Hertz car hire for the rest of the week. The Car Trawler help desk person clearly asked us to keep receipts as we would be able to claim the difference in cost Between our Hertz car hire and our Car Trawler (Easyjet Car Rental) booking on our return.

Both Easyjet and Car Trawler deny any blame and blame Thrifty, hence the poor review now for Thrifty.

Very Bad experience at Limoges Airport

Accused of a small damage we absolutely did not do to a door sill. Apparently it had been covered over by something similar to tippex - not sure how we could have spotted this and Thrifty had obviously missed it from the previous return. We had only hired the car for a day! At returns the guy would not do a check with us - we should have smelled a rat then! Also a faulty fuel gauge on vehicle that we were not told about in advance even though they knew about the issue - according to them "Thrifty state that there is a recurrent problem with the Peugeot 208 in that when the car is full the needle does not always point to “full” . They would say that though! Wonder if Peugeot agree. I'd never use them again but if you do check the car like crazy and be very very wary!

Thrifty Toulouse

Thrifty were excellent in April 19, booked through Zest car rental.
Thrifty share the Hertz desk (they are subsidiary of Hertz)
No queue
We were given a larger car than booked at no additional cost
We were offered extra insurance but turned it down as we have an annual car rental policy
Absolutely no hard sale, warnings or threat about this
We were clearly informed of the full to full fuel policy
There staff available at pick up to inspect the car with the customer
On return, we were given written confirmation that no charge would be taken from our credit card
Extremely happy with Thrifty
