I am a seller. The website has illegal billing practices. I paid for premium bags and they are supposed to sell 90-100% of the bag and they didn’t and did not downgrade it to a regular selling bag aft... See more

Firstly I spent over $150, I purchased mainly things that were final sales, but did not expect them to be nothing more than garbage, three things had stains, two were ripped or damaged beyond repair. Was sent kids clothing under the impression they were adults. Very unhappy, will never order from them again.

I am very disappointed with this company. The very first kit I sent was great. I actually sold most of the items I sent and ended up making some money, which I used right on the spot to purchase from them and ended up spending some extra money on top of it.
However, I felt like that was a way to get me in. My other bags had huge problems and shame on me for giving them another chance. I did a closet purge a few months ago and had three big bags with high-end brand clothing and shoes, some of which were new with tags. All the items I sent were in great condition and I checked to make sure they were the brands that were accepted by the company. I noticed that some of my items were listed as "no earnings", even though they were high-end brands in great condition that were listed as accepted brands on their website. I also noticed that suddenly my items were not selling as quickly as the first bag was sold. Most of the items suddenly expired and later I noticed some of my items listed for sale again, even though I was told that the expired items would be donated.
Obviously, I won't be dealing with this company again. I wish I had just donated all my clothes to a charity vs. giving it to these people. Very disappointing.

I had purchased a couple of items from ThredUp that were nice and greatly discounted, so I decided to attempt to do a "clean out." I sent 9 items (my first mistake, more is better) and all were accepted for sale including a brand new, never worn dress that was marked down as having "minor wear on the fabric" and a pair of leather shoes I had spent over $ 100 for. Most things sold quickly, but for next to nothing. Two things were "donated" for some reason. In all, I made about $ 12 for my items and with their $ 15 selling fee, I ended up making absolutely NOTHING on the transaction.

I wish I could leave zero stars. This was a big mistake. I earned nothing from my sales and ended up owing money.
I basically paid them to sell my items with no return.
Terrible.

I am very unhappy with Thredup. I ordered about 4-5 shirts from them that I literally cannot wear that were marked "in good condition". One had a hole in it and the others were worn so much they are almost see thru. They did give me half credit for one.
I sent in a bag to sell items full of premium clothes from Prana, Athleta, Born leather boots, bathing suits with tags on them... really good stuff in very good condition. They rejected ALL but one of them and then donated them. I checked to see if I could have them returned and it states on the website that you can have items returned if you request. Well, I wasn't even given the option! I'm SUPER disappointed in Thredup. I tried to get ahold of a live agent and that seems to be impossible.
I will be honest and say I have found a couple of items for purchase that were almost brand new and was happy with those. But not accepting items in very good condition and then sending me items that have holes in them? I guess I'm missing something. I should have went with the local consignment store!
And I appreciate the reply and Thredup finally contacting me an offering to send my items back, I still have issue with this company. I really am not someone to write bad reviews, but I think it's important to voice concerns so hopefully improvements can be made.
The message I received stated there was a "strong odor" coming from the clothes and they cannot take them because some people are very sensitive to odors and perfumes. That being said, an entire bag of clothes I purchased in the past had to be soaked in vinegar and water TWICE to get the strong laundry scent out of the clothes because I am one of those who cannot handle strong scents. I sent back one of the items in the clean out bag, so pretty sure that is what they are talking about.
I don't want anything from this company, but clarity and integrity. And if you are going to be so adamant about what you "accept" and do not accept, be consistent. Almost half of what I have ordered, I never would have brought home from even Goodwill due to how they smelled and the condition they were in. Just be honest and reply to people when they reach out with their concerns. Unfortunately for me, it took writing a bad review.

This seems like such a great idea! And, it is indeed super simple, but the return on my sold items is literally pennies. I sold nine items so far and still own money! I’m glad to have the items go to people who will enjoy them, but would not recommend selling through Treadup.

This company is a scam !! You send items in , out of 30 items , thy might keep 9 and out of 9 they sell 4 and not 1 penny was earned after they took their service fee which is $7.49 an item and the items didn’t even sell for that . Don’t waste your time or effort to give them all their money

My items sold but no money in my account. Percent of payout for items sold ridiculously low. This company is a complete ripoff for sellers!!!!

2.5 stars if I could.
I placed a couple orders to find a dress for my brother’s wedding from ThredUp. I also sent a clean out bag so I am reviewing my overall experience with the company from these experiences starting with my first purchase in February.
At first, the whole thing seemed ideal. Used clothes at great prices! But there are lots of drawbacks to this company’s model:
1. Lack of info. Clothing sizes aren’t always accurate and there is minimal information on the type of fabric. Nearly everything I bought needed to be returned over the course of three orders mostly because the images don’t show the actual size well.
2. Returns cost you. They penalize you heavily with a restocking fee so you have to take a credit in order to get anything worthwhile back. Then you’re stuck trying to use the credit.
3. The smell. Idk what they spray the clothes with my you cannot get it out. No matter how many times you wash. We have a fragrance sensitive home so this is real problem for us. I’ve never had this issue with getting the smell out of local thrift store clothes.
4. Selling is pointless. I would not have sent my clothes to them if I had known how pathetic the $ would be. Like I don’t expect to make bank, but $ 0.48? How can you expect to pay the selling fee. I would have preferred to donate to my local thrift store had I known but they don’t really disclose before you send how little you will make for it.
On the positive side they cancelled one of my orders because they couldn’t find the dress but did eventually find it and still sent it to me which I thought was cool.
They also will waive restocking fees for certain things like if the size was misrepresented, but not all issues.

Worst "second hand" experience I have ever had. They give little to no profit margin for NWT name brand items like lululemon. They charge additional fees even after you paid the resale fee up front. They won't send you back clothes that they decide to not post or not sell either. Learn from my mistake and scroll right past this scam of a company.

Purchased a blouse described as XL and was tagged XL, but item was actually a S or XS.
I had to pay for the return despite the item being mistagged.

It's kind of weird that brand new w/tags, in demand, name brand clothes are deemed "ineligible for earnings", while three selling stained, old no name t shirts.
Customer service is unhelpful
Whatever, from here on out I'm just donating my clothes to a good cause - why should I give this shady business free stock

I admit that I might have been able to get an estimate of the value of the items that I sent to Thredup, but I still don't see how. I sent 9 items in, they donated 4 and listed 5. One was from Chico's one had never been worn. They offered me less than $8 for all of it. I asked them to mail it back to me, that I would pay for shipping, but they just ignored me. I feel like they have stolen from me at this point, I want the stuff more than I want $8. Scammy

Selling on thread up is a total disaster. I sent two full bags of good, decent clothes expecting some $. I don't actually know how much sold, but what was reported to me was very small and it was "paid" as "credits". Maybe I missed the fine print, but I would have been far better off finding a local reseller or even donating. One item didn't sell and I got an email if I wanted it back. I said sure, then got the pop-up that I would have to pay for the garment, plus handling, plus shipping. You have got to be kidding. WARNING - DON'T GO THERE.

I’ve ordered 3 times and they never send the right clothing. I’m starting to think they post fake pictures and sell different products. They only refund you their erroneous orders after you return the product.
Plus- I sent in 14 articles of luxury clothing, sold 1 item for $0.37 , they took a 14 fee then sent me an email saying I needed to buy the items back or they would recycle them.
Just to find out that my “disposed clothing” was still up for sale.
After this, I’m filing a complaint with the attorney general as well as an audit request with the department of revenue.
This is the most dishonest company I’ve ever been a “customer” of. No clue how they still have a business to operate.

I placed 4 orders with ThredUp. The first order never arrived and I tracked it through the shipping company and ThredUp. Chatted with customer service at both places a few times and learned the package was damaged and being returned. I was charged and never credited, even though the clothes I ordered were listed as for sale again after a few weeks, so I know they were received back by ThredUp. Not cool. Finally got my money back by going directly to my bank. Happily, the next three orders went much more smoothly and arrived nicely packaged. One item was sub par condition while all others were as great as advertised. I wanted to return a few items that did not fit well but it wasn’t worth the cost vs. the great price I paid so my nieces will benefit from those things. All in all I am very happy with the quality and condition for the prices and am looking forward to sporting these clothes.

Be very careful about keeping track of the items you send and the condition they are in. The people who evaluate the clothing are questionable. Brand new items with tags in perfect condition were considered unsellable and will be recycled. When questioned, customer service said they found flaws. These flaws were only found with new items and the used ones were sold for very small amounts.

I received the bag some time ago
I have not used it. I began to separate the items today 3/25/26. I began reading the experience from other clients. The Reviews each review had a red flag 🚩. I googled the company to get the phone number. wanted to know if it cost to send my items. There is a postage label on the bag. I’m gonna go with the first option and not use this program
