Victoria (an experienced midwife) was great - warm, welcoming & very knowledgeable. The course was in a small group of 7 couples at Hughenden village hall on weekends which was very convenient. There... See more

Sling Library Help
I came to see Lisa at the sling library as I had brought a sling but didn’t have the confidence on how to use it, as a wrap sling and being a first time mum.
Lisa was really knowledgeable and took the time to explain the sling to use and gave me the confidence to master it on my own!
Lisa offered advice on other topics, was really friendly and I have been happily recommending to others. I am sure I will be back for a future course or support.
Village Midwife - North Hampshire with Nikki
My husband and I participated in The Village Midwife antenatal course in North Hampshire with Nikki, and we are so incredibly happy with our choice! I was 36 weeks pregnant when we attended, the furthest along in our group but that wasn't an issue at all. The information Nikki gave us was so helpful as we discussed the birth of our baby and what happens when the baby gets here! Most courses just focus on the birth, especially with having a hypnobirthing mindset, but Nikki showed us that hypnobirthing stems beyond birth and into the fourth trimester continuing to use methods learned through the process.
My husband and I refer back to the booklet handout all the time, we felt informed during labour and had the confidence to ask questions where we were uncertain.
I hear a lot about another common antenatal course that people say is outdated information 'but you make friends', whereas The Village Midwife course is informative, interactive, and a lovely comfortable place to meet expectant parents. I definitely recommend this course to anyone debating which course will give you the best experience and information.
And a big thank you to Nikki who made everyone feel comfortable and confident, and for not being biased towards one type of birth or only teaching us about the "perfect" labour/birth which is all people see on social media nowadays. I felt supported not only during the course, but know where to ask for help afterwards, that means a lot.
Do not go anywhere else
Do not go anywhere else!
After not really thinking antenatal classes were really important or necessary, I was told by my friends they are only to meet new mums, and with the cost of the classes on top of everything you have to buy for a baby….i really wasn’t sold. However….when the village midwife (in Worcester) had an unexpected slot open up on her course, I decided to attend as I was curious about birth, pain relief and the entire process. I expected to feel a bit like it was a waste of money…
I could not have been more wrong!! This course has been the most positive, inspiring and empowering part of our baby journey so far. We learnt about birth and the pain relief available and the side effects of these. My husband and I felt with this knowledge we are in control of our birthing journey despite what it may bring. I feel that we have the knowledge to choose the right choice for us no matter what unexpectedly happens.
Not just the birth, we learnt so so much about the 4th trimester and adjusting to our lives as new parents. Lisa is always on hand even after the classes have finished for any advice. She’s a practicing midwife and therefore can offer real life experience and up to date information. Lisa is so kind and approachable and I couldn’t event imagine doing this course with anyone else. I have already recommended her and this course to 3 of my friends who are early pregnancy. I will most definitely be doing the postnatal course with her as well. It was an experience and information that I didn’t know I needed to prepare me for motherhood and child birth. Really really recommend.
Amazing course, would recommend again and again!
The course was so informative and the knowledge that we have gained from the course is huge. Lisa is fab when delivering the course, very approachable and knowledgeable and it is because of her that we’re going into labour and parenthood feeling prepared and inspired to be the best we can be.
Amazing! Thank you Sophie Gallant!
This course was brilliant and so eye-opening. Would 100% recommend for new mums! Sophie Gallant was fantastic and always delivered the key information in a fun and lighthearted way. I’m so glad my partner and I did this course as I now feel more informed of the choices, the risks and most importantly, I feel empowered to make the right decisions for me and baby.
I also very recently started having some early labour signs and Sophie was immediately on hand via WhatsApp to answer any questions I had. So so helpful and could not recommend her enough!
Personal antenatal classes
The Village Midwife is a really personal course, as there is only a small amount of couples who attend the sessions. This meant that whilst we were covering the topics, we had plenty of time to delve deeper into discussion, ask plenty of questions and share thoughts and opinions.
Sophie made us feel very welcome and was really knowledgeable, she has been in touch since the course has ended to see how we’re getting on which again, just adds to the personal feel of this course.
We were given a booklet with lots of detailed information about pregnancy, birth and postnatal care. We’ve found so much useful information in it and have bene referring back to it as we get closer to birth, particularly to brush up on what the types of induction and assisted delivery are.
Both my partner and I are so glad we joined these classes, and we would recommend their services to anyone expecting! :)
We loved our classes with Sophie
We loved our classes with Sophie, really engaging, informative and super helpful!
We enjoyed the mix of activities and discussion and also enjoyed the venue and social time to meet other new parents!
Really recommend to others, nothing to worry about and really friendly and comfortable environment!
Thanks :)
This course was exactly what I needed…
This course was exactly what I needed as a first time mum. So much information is included and provided in a helpful and kind way. No question was unanswered and all advice was given with no judgement. I felt at ease with both the group, midwife, and guest speakers. I learnt so much and have come away feeling supported and informed. I would highly recommend this course. A special mention for Jenni who was fantastic.
This course is an absolute must
This course is an absolute must, I can't recommend enough we had an amazing experience and can't believe how much we didn't know and just to feel comfortable with the huge life changing chapter to come. My wife and I wish we could have Jenni as our midwife she really makes you feel comfortable and puts you at ease she really is a wonder woman. Thank you once again for everything
Great course!
We had a course in Northchurch with Aimee Lennox. The course was really well run and had lots of valuable information, which answered so many questions we had in the run up to the birth. It was also a lovely way to meet other couples who were expecting. Would definitely recommend!!
1-1 course in Suffolk
We did a 1-1 course with Sophie Gallant which was brilliant. Sophie came to our house and as first time parents made us feel totally at ease and that no question was too small.
Sophie’s style and delivery was excellent; she had phenomenal subject matter knowledge which was so informative and delivered in a really natural and engaging way which encouraged good dialogue.
Sophie gave us confidence when it comes to making decisions around the birth and gave us an optimistic and yet realistic mindset of what is to come.
We would highly recommend Sophie and The Village Midwife course to any other prospective parents.
Lisa is fantastic
Lisa is fantastic. We didn’t originally plan on doing an antenatal course but wanted to become more informed about the parenthood journey. We are so glad we found Lisa, as it was such a positive experience. She is calm, reassuring and encouraging and so very knowledgeable. She also gave us the confidence when it came to decision making, knowing that there isn’t a definitive right or wrong but a considered and informed decision. The ongoing support and encouragement is also wonderful-we’re popping in to borrow a sling later. Thank you Lisa
Antenatal Course in High Wycombe
Both my husband and I found the course extremely informative and it gave us a realistic but optimistic view of labor. Sophie is highly knowledgeable and has loads of experience as a midwife. She delivered the information in an easy to understand format with a good sense of humour that kept the sessions enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us, Sophie. We would highly recommend this course to any new parents.
Great course, loads of info but very friendly!
We did a course with Jenni in Bicester and it was excellent! She's a really great teacher and 3 hours flew by each week. I feel armed with knowledge now. It was great having a practising midwife teach the course, and a local one at that, as she could tell us so much about what to expect and answer pretty much any question! Thanks Jenni :)
Positive and empowering
I cannot recommend Sophie, The Village Midwife enough. The prenatal course has left my partner and I feeling really confident when it comes to giving birth to our first child. Sophie is realistic, honest but extremely positive and empowering and our whole group felt the same way. We are looking forward to attending the postnatal course once our baby arrives. My parents have even booked onto the course for Grandparents. Thank you Sophie and Robyn! Emma and Luke x
Couldn’t recommend enough!
We had chosen the hypnobirthing service with The Village Midwife. We had the lovely Sophie Gallant. I can honestly say this is genuinely the most informed and empowering experience for me and my partner. We learnt, we experienced and practiced some techniques together. We indulged in the learning and the resources available are absolutely fantastic. We couldn’t recommend them enough and Sophie was great at making this personal to us in such a professional way. Thank you so much!
We would be back if we are blessed ever again one day.
Great experience for first time parents
Lisa is friendly, informative and puts you at ease from the moment you meet her. As first time parents we found the village midwife anti natal class a great learning experience, this was further enhanced by both Lisa’s experience and personable nature. Would definitely recommend!
Lisa was fantastic. Highly recommend
Lisa was fantastic! Full of knowledge and made it a safe place to share and discuss issues/concerns. I learnt so much and has really helped increase my confidence and a great opportunity to meet some other mums. Highly recommend!
100% reccommended for new parents.
Sophie was very welcoming and it was a well organised and engaging course, both instructor led and with lots of open discussion. I would 100% reccommend. I felt much more positive about the coming trials and tribulations.
Antenatal Course - Rushcliffe
We did the antenatal course with Rachel at East Leake and would highly recommend for any expectant parents. The course is very informative and covers all the important subjects surrounding birth and beyond so you feel as prepared as you can for when your little one makes an appearance. Rachel is very supportive, answering any questions you may have and is friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth the money.
