Great after sales

I’ve had my car just over a month, it had an issue with the front passenger seat belt, where it was twisted inside the panel. I contacted the After Sales team, who phoned me back same day to book me in, checked the issue within a week and then booked me in for a repair as it needed replacing. When I took my car for the repair, I asked if they could have it done within 2 hours as I needed to be back on time to collect my daughter and they had me out in 45 minutes! Really nice staff and quick service.

Extremely poor service and communication from Dealer.

My Son and daughter-in-law bought a car on 18.4.2026.
They were happy with the purchase and finance.
However, on 26th April notified the used car sales manager that they had experience problems with the vehicle, engine oil light came on after 200 miles and needed a top up of 1 litre. Screen wash was mt. Then a gearbox fault came up. Extremely poor communication with after sales which left them in the dark. On 11th May sent a Rejection Letter on as per 2015 consumer rights act. No formal response , They decided to pick the car up on the 28th May. Then on 6th June was booked into workshop and again very poor communication emails not answered and when you ring after sales call centre they take the message but no one calls you back. Then Finance company decided to engage an independent inspector who found nothing wrong with the car except it needed a service, Grab handle that had fallen off to be replaced and wheels needed balancing. TCW and independent inspector could not see the gearbox fault although we had sent a screen shot of the error. In the mean time due to the length of the investigation and we had requested our money back and not the car, my daughter-in-law had to buy another car to get to work. The finance company then threatened to pick up the car from trade centre Wales and sell it at auction and we would be liable for any outstanding finance. We travelled the 60 miles to Neath. Picked the car up on the 30th July ( Car had been serviced and all faults corrected on 27th July) first fault key fob battery flat and battery replaced then another grab handle fell off. We drove home and on the 4th August settled the finance agreement. 6th August the gearbox fault reappeared and the car went into limp mode but managed to get home. Mileage completed since leaving Neath on 30th July - 174 miles. Next morning AA called and they found the error on gearbox to be Clutch 1 on DSG gearbox plus a few other codes. We received a written report from the AA plus took photos of the OBD screen. On Monday 10th drove to Neath with all the written evidence and requesting our money back. They stated they could not do anything until the car is returned and then it would take a couple of days to get an answer. Car was picked up that afternoon by a recovery vehicle. It is now Tuesday 18th that's 8 days later and still await an answer on the gearbox condition and return of purchase price of vehicle. My son is away at sea, my daughter-in-law has two sons 5 and 11 with the youngest having a disability and she is completely distraught over the way TCW has dealt with her.
The company has asked me for more details. However this is quiet comprehensive my main concerns are,

1. 99 point check before purchase not carried out that is why after 200 miles found the oil light on and had to add 1.0 str of oil, Drivers side Grab handle fell off, wheels needed balancing and service light came on a few days after purchase.

2. Due to faulty gearbox and other problems requested my money back as per 2015 consumer credit act however it is now 20th August and still waiting. Seem to be a lot of delay tactics, It took 17 days to pick up car after initial request for money back. The car was at TCW on 6th June but the service and other items not completed until 27th July. Informed although had sent screen shot of gearbox problem that nothing was wrong with Gearbox. Picked car up from Neath on 30th July and gearbox failed after 174 miles on the 6th August. AA diagnosed problem to be Clutch 1 and submitted a report plus photos of the OBD screen. 10th August drove the 60 miles to Neath presented all evidence but was told could not do anything until car inspected. All codes left on OBD. When vehicle was checked a few days later they could not find the fault. Eventually they decided there was gearbox problem and on 20th August drove to TCW. Although on site,Manager called me and told me my case had now been escalated to senior management to decide whether I can have my money back. That is now 3 months and 9 days since I rejected the car.

3. If you have problem with your used car there is only one used car manager you can talk to. If you call either of the two TCW numbers you will get directed to a call centre. You then have to give all your details and they will pass on the message. The only problem is that you rarely get called back. If you send a email to the Used Car Manager again you can wait days for answer if you get one. Today I drove the 60 miles to TCW and could only speak to the receptionist there is no one else to speak to. This size of operation you would at least expect a customer service person.

I also went to the glossy showroom today and met a charming salesman but I just cringed and left.
I hope this additional information helps the senior management team and reviewers.
