I realised quickly that this was a scamming company when I recieved no type of communication. I then tried to cancel the order. A day later they shipped it (this was after like 2 weeks). They sent me the WRONG size for bedding and only allow store credit if you return it first. I am asking for a full refund and for that to happen before the item gets given back. DO NOT waste your time or Money.
the lack of compliance with Australian Consumer Laws is shocking, I was assured that I would receive a refund due to me contacting within the 24 hour mark, additionally they stated as an excuse that the order has already entered the shipping process and yet according to shop and the literal site given tracking updates its completely unfulfilled. every email ive attempted to send hasnt been responded to for days on end, despite the website assuring responses within 24-48 hours (something that has yet to happen btw) and even worse ive recieved the exact same ai copy and paste response to each request genuinely appalling

I ordered a purple quilt cover it was blue and pink. I sent them a photo they stated it was the wrong one and they would send the correct one. They also forgot pillow cases. 2 months later when I asked where my new cover was they advised they had sent the correct one and I would not receive a replacement. Zip broke second time using it! I ordered in November and it’s nearly March and I’m still waiting on my pillowcases and having to chase them up!

This company doesn’t even deserve one star. Absolutely disgusting customer service. Almost uncontactable. Ship from China, yet claim to be an Australian company. Their tracking links barely work or update and they say the product is out for delivery and it doesn’t get delivered. Terrible communication. And such a scam. After seeing all these reviews now, I wish I’d done my research. I will be reporting to the ACCC.

This company is a total scam! They charge premium prices to then ship you poor quality products that look nothing like their site and come direct from a factory in china! Basically temu but pretending not to be!
I waited nearly 3 weeks for my order, to then have it arrive and look nothing like the pictures colours were wrong and quality awful, it looked nothing like what i paid for!
Contacted them to ask to return and they only offered store credit even after I explained the item doesn’t match what i order - they then admitted they take pictures from a distance and in different lighting basically admitting they are misleading people and still will not offer a refund. A store credit is all I am offered yet why would I want some other cheap crap from their site??? The item is stripe on one side and pink on the other, but the pink of the stripe is different to the pink on the back. So wrong!
Their customer service is a joke, the whole set up is a scam and I will be reporting it. How they can not offer refunds when items don’t match the description is beyond me. Appears this is a common experience for all shoppers which is so disappointing to see.

Worst business I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Order was incorrect, full order took another 3 weeks, then item did not match photograph on website. At every turn their 'customer service' was slow, offered nothing but roadblocks. 11 weeks since purchase and I'm extremely dissatisfied. Refuse to comply with Australian Consumer Law obligations. Have no moral compass.

This company is selling products that are identical to items on Temu for a fraction of the price, using the same images and descriptions, while presenting themselves as a legitimate retailer. It’s a drop-shipping operation with massive markups, and this is not made clear at checkout.
When I realised this and contacted them before the item was shipped, they refused to cancel the order or issue a refund, repeatedly hiding behind “policy.” They effectively do not offer refunds (only a store credit) unless you accept delivery from an overseas supplier and then jump through a returns process.
Any so-called “disclosure” about international suppliers is buried in FAQs and policy pages, not clearly presented when you’re actually paying. That’s misleading, plain and simple. Had this been transparent upfront, I would never have purchased.
I’ve now had to escalate the matter through my bank and have also been in contact with the ACCC regarding their conduct.
Do your research before buying. This is not the business it appears to be.
Order was left in the street, unfortunately I recovered it because I would have had a better chance of getting my money back if I just let it get stolen. Quality was terrible, advised we tried to wash it to fix it and contacted them to say we were unhappy. They advised I could return for a store credit - I advised this wouldn't fix the quality issue. They dropped their offer to $25 and when I advised them I would escalate externally they said they wouldn't help me anymore. They use AI to respond to emails and have clearly given up trying to fix the issues that people are sharing online and are feeling overwhelmed. I advised them I worked in customer escalations management and was happy to work with them towards a fair resolution and they just didn't care. I will be escalating this further across various channels and welcome others to reach out to me to work collaboratively on a favourable response.
Still waiting for my bedding. They claim to be an Australian company and the product has taken over 3 weeks. It’s been shipped and I’m guessing sourced from China I bet they are selling for a 60% profit. You could probably get the same product from Temu 1/4 the price.
I purchased a table lamp from The Simple Society. The product I received was shockingly different to the image online for the lamp I thought I was getting. The colour of the lamp was described as "Lime" but the lamp I received was plainly yellow. The lamp also came with a Chinese wall plug! When I emailed the customer service team to ask for a full refund as the product did not match the description on the website, I was gaslit and told that the lamp was the correct colour. On the wall plug side, I was told that the lamp was intended to be USB powered, however this was not mentioned ANYWHERE in the product description (and I do have screenshots of this in case they try to be sneaky and update the product listing after the fact) and the fact that a Chinese wall plug came with the lamp was not mentioned at all. I have been refused my legal entitlement to a refund but will be pursuing what I am rightfully entitled to. They will not stop me and I will not back down.
The product received differs materially from how it was advertised. The item was marketed with bows evenly covering the duvet, however the product received only has bows covering a small portion, with no disclosure that this would be the case for king size.
I contacted the merchant multiple times and provided photos. They have refused a refund and will only offer store credit. Since they are refusing to help me and under the Australian Consumer Law I am entitled to a FULL refund I have had no choice but to take it further and lodge complaints. Very disappointing.
The items sold by this company are sourced through cheap overseas companies like TEMU and Shein. This can be EASILY figured out by doing a google image search with the images on their website. Cheap items sold for over triple the price and then refuses to refund when customers receive the items and realise the scam.
I purchased from the Simple Society in December and still waiting. They claim to be an Adelaide company. Yea right when your products come from china. Also apparently offer refunds to some yet I was told I can only get store credit. Stick your store credit Im not interested. I also tried to cancel countless times but took a third party to get involved before I even got a reply 2 weeks later. Week 3 still nothing now apparently in transit. I so wish I read reviews before buying. I'd rather burn the item that buy again which is all you offer with your ridiculous store credit.
UPDATE: at the same time The Simple Society responded to this review advising they've offered a refund - they emailed me and said no refunds can be offered. What a joke company!
This appears to be a scam website. Unfortunately, without checking reviews first, I was taken in by their aesthetic Instagram and website imagery and purchased a bedding set in December. While the delivery took a long time, I initially attributed this to the busy holiday period. When the order finally arrived, the sheets were poorly packaged, completely different from what was advertised, and made from a cheap, synthetic fabric. After weeks of back-and-forth with The Simple Society and repeated refusals to provide a refund, I received an email suggesting that colour perception is tricky, and that if I looked more closely at their website images, the discrepancy would make sense. Conveniently, those images had been changed after my complaint. Unfortunately for The Simple Society, I had already taken screenshots of the original photos from both their website and Instagram, and it is clear the imagery has been altered. This is an extremely brazen and misleading practice. I have reported the matter to the ACCC and am awaiting their response. A hard lesson in the importance of doing proper research before purchasing.

I have emailed them a million times to see where it is. I then asked to cancel the order and get a refund. The response has been the same generic reply, "we are sorry for this. Your order is being looked into. Thank you for your patience"
I have now fully run out of patience - and will be reporting them!

EDIT - review did not get approved straight away, there was a delay in approval on trust pilot. And I have not got any notification that item was out of stock, just an assurance from you it was in the hands of the courier (which obviously it wasn't). It only got refunded when I cancelled it via after pay. But nice try..

Edit 15/1/26 @thesimplesociety totally stuffed me around items arrived damaged/faulty as per their refund policy should give refund when damaged/faulty. Take forever to respond and dragged it out for weeks luckily I was able to get a refund through payment method 👎
