Scam card setup to fish for people's personal information

I got one of these cards as a gift card. Reading the back of the card it said that the funds do not expire, so I didn't think about rushing to use it. What they didn't tell you, and what a lot of people here reported was that they charge money per month, so it was empty by the time I went to use it. Absolute scam.

Do NOT purchase "The Perfect Gift…

Do NOT purchase "The Perfect Gift Visa". I recently found a gift card I received as a gift and have never used. The card is now past it's expiry date but their site offers to send you a new card. When I called the 800 number I was told that the card is activated when it is purchased (by the gift giver) not when I start using it (as the gift receiver). Therefore, the card now has a balance of $0. My frient paid $55.95 ($50 gift card + $5.95) and I was able to use $0. Total rip off.

Liars and Thieves

They said they would send me a replacement $50 card, made me spend hours filling out my name and address to mail it to me over a support phone call. The card hasn't arrived more than 3 months later. Filthy liars.

Would never go for one of these

Would never go for one of these. Hidden expiry date! So if you dont spend it, VISA gets to keep it I guess. That is actually illegal in Canada, but they are getting away with it. never again.

How is this even legal

How is this even legal? Complete scam. Same as all the other 1 star reviews. Received a $100 gift card and put it away for a rainy day. Just went to use it and the balance is $0 as they siphoned the money out in bogus fees. Will report to governmental agencies as this company needs to be stopped.

Scam card

Received it as a gift 3 years ago - just opened the pack a few days ago and called CS to get a new card sent as the expiry date was May 2025. Was told that it was already essentially entirely spent back in 2022 at some restaurant in Houston, TX. I have never been there and the card was literally sealed and with me the entire time. They said they could not do anything and I should have reported the fraud at the time - if I never opened it, how would I know? Extremely scammy company.

The Perfect Gift visa card is a Perfect Trap and Scam

During the Covid-19 pandemic, our department sent me a prepaid gift card called "The Perfect Gift" visa card, value $75, as an appreciation to staff for working during the lock down time. It was in my drawer until a few weeks ago, I used it for shopping. It was declined. I tried in another store, also the payment was declined. One sale staff pealed off the sticker on the card and said that the card was expired. I was shocked to know that a prepaid gift card has an expiration date! And the expiration date is covered with a sticker!
Today, I called the customer service of the Perfect Gift and asked whether I could have a replacement card. The service staff checked my card number and told me that there was no money left in the card, because $3 monthly fee is charged over these years. I was even more shocked, saying that I never activated this card. He said that upon purchasing this card over the counter, it was activated and monthly fees started at that time.
It is the first time that I got to know a prepaid gift card charges monthly fees and has an expiration date, and the expiration date is covered. That is 100% cheating and scamming!
I said to the service staff that this so-called Perfect Gift card should be re-named as "Perfect Trap card" or "Perfect Scam card". Although it is not the fault of the service staff, this Perfect Gift visa company is definitely a shameless scammer!
Lessons learned: no more gift card to friends and family members. Cash only!

Absolute scam

Absolute scam.
I received a $125 gift card couple years ago, tried using it today - I had under $50 left on the card because of the $3 monthly maintenance fee that kicked in one year after the card is purchased which is the activation date (news flash because I thought the first time I used the card would be considered the activation date). Also found out today that I lost another $30 on a $250 Perfect Gift Visa card to maintenance fee - a card that I was saving for a ‘rainy day’. This is an absolute scam. They took $100 from card worth $125 - to maintain CASH.

Card is worthless due to $3

Card is worthless due to $3, monthly fee, unless you use right away. Do not buy or gift these cards. They just take your money. Your throwing your hard earned money away.

Got totally screwed

Got totally screwed. Was given 2 VISA gift cards in February. One expired CT 2024 and one expired 05/27. Went to use the cards in October 2024. Jad no funds left on the 25.00 card because the 3.00 a month visa fee was applied. Lost everything. Tried to use the other card to purchase something in August 2024 which was more than the 100.00 on the card, and because of this the card was declined and they zero balanced the gift card. Multipl, multiple, multiple scams by VISA. BullXXXX

Absolute scam

Absolute scam. I wish zero stars was an option, but I have to settle for one. They charge a 20% additional fee for prepaid gift cards, then get around Canadian Laws by draining the balance with additional monthly fees.

I had a stack of these cards for previous birthdays and finally got around to redeeming them, thinking that Canadian law prevents them from expiring. Instead I found them all completely drained.

I don't understand how this is legal. I hope there is a class action lawsuit soon.

Total scam. NEVER BUY THESE

The awful gift

The awful gift
The lousy gift
The anti gift
I can't think of a single reason that justifies the $3 fee, there should be a law against that kind of practice, they just do it because they can. It's disgusting

HORRIBLE WEBSITE, HIDDEN FEES

This is is the worst site I've ever dealt with. Received this as a gift and just recently went to use it. Needed to replace the card since it has expired but it says funds do not. Call customer service and get told I have no money left because they charged me a monthly fee for not using it. That is complete theft and is absolutely repulsive. I lost $50 because they decided I didn't use my card fast enough. Never experienced something so atrocious. Woman tells me it's on the back of the card, which it's not so then she goes oh well it's on our website. just kept repeating the same stuff and did not care that they basically just stole my money. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!!!!!

Give cash instead

I tried to use this card online and it didn't work. So then I forgot about the card and decided to finally use it at a store. They told me it didn't work. I then went online and their website took 5 mins to try to load the card only to tell me to call their customer service. When I got around to finally calling customer service they told me the card was blocked. It had been blocked for months because I tried to use it online at an "insecure" site. I'm pretty sure I tried to use it on Amazon. Since then they have been deducting $3/mth. So now I have $14 left on the card and never used it!! Even though I tried to use it on several occasions. This is so upsetting because it was a gift for my 8 yr old. Not only do they charge a fee to buy the card but they take $3 off each month you don't use it after 12 mths of inactivity. What a rip off. This should be illegal. When I called they said they would send me another card in the mail with the remaining balance. Visa gross profit ending in 2023 was over $32B. Billion!! Disgusting

Unauthorized fee of $3 started one week…

Unauthorized fee of $3 started one week after I got it for Christmas last year. I filed a dispute, no contact from them. I then received an email stating they closed my dispute. They are a fraudulent company. Not only do they start charging you a service fee but to buy the card you have to pay a $5.97.
