I’ve had a very positive experience with Dhruva. The concepts are well taught and the lessons are well structured.I have noticed a significant improvement in my son’s Spag and overall confidence.
Her support played a crucial role in helping my son successfully pass the top grammar school entrance exams(QE, WILSONS,ST OLAVES). She provided clear guidance, effective strategies, and consistent encouragement throughout the process. I would highly recommend her to other families preparing for similar exams.

I have now known Dhruva for over a year now and can confidently say that she has been my saviour on the 11+ journey! Maths is a straightforward subject to teach as is purely logical and the kids grasp it with relative ease. Teaching English…however, requires utmost patience and a real love for the language! Dhruva has both … and some!!! She has selflessly laboured with my children and brought them to a point where they actually lookup to share a clever literary device in the book that they are voraciously devouring!!!
I have utmost respect for her work-ethic, her genuine,affectionate bond with the kids and her ability to explore subtle shades of meaning in any text!

After living in London for three years, we returned to South Korea last year. Our primary goal was to find a qualified tutor who could provide authentic lessons to help our children maintain and improve their proficiency at home.

Dhruva has exceeded our expectations. She is an incredibly flexible tutor who tailors her classes to our specific needs and encourages my children to practice without feeling pressured. I highly recommend Dhruva for 11+ English preparation. She has excellent subject knowledge and a very effective teaching approach. What stood out most was how well she adapted her teaching to suit the my son’s learning style. Her strategies for improving comprehension were particularly helpful, and she shared many useful techniques that made it easier to understand and analyse passages. The sessions were structured, engaging, and focused on building confidence as well as skills. I highly recommend Dhruva Sondhi from The Language Studios, who supported my son with his Eleven Plus English preparation. Her lessons were exceptionally well‑structured, engaging, and perfectly aligned with the demands of the exam. She explained concepts with clarity and patience, guiding him through SPAG, vocabulary, long comprehension, and creative writing.
Dhruva took the time to understand his weaker areas and gently encouraged him to come out of his shell. Her calm, patient approach helped him overcome his initial reluctance to write and express himself. Through her consistent encouragement and step‑by‑step support, especially in crafting responses to comprehension questions, his confidence in tackling long comprehension grew significantly.

Her dedicated focus on vocabulary and her encouragement to use new words in writing noticeably strengthened his expression. In addition, Dhruva’s in‑depth grammar course helped him master tricky grammar concepts with ease. Poetry comprehension, which initially felt daunting for him, became easy for him to comprehend due to her clear explanations and well‑structured lessons on poetic techniques.

With her guidance, my son successfully cleared Stage 1 & 2 exams for Grammar Schools in Sutton and Stage 1 exams for Tiffin School, and St Olave's Grammar School. Stage 2 results are yet to be announced.

Dhruva is a fantastic teacher who genuinely cares about her students’ success. She is one of those rare teachers who does not give up on her students and believes that every child has the potential to succeed and achieve strong results when provided with the right guidance and support.

I would highly recommend her to anyone preparing for the Eleven Plus.

We cannot recommend Dhruva highly enough. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed both her group and individual sessions. This was largely due to Dhruva's wonderful manner and an approach that makes learning genuinely enjoyable.
​Before starting with Dhruva, our daughter had hit a plateau in English Comprehension and Creative Writing. Dhruva’s targeted guidance helped her break through that ceiling and reach new levels of excellence. The results speak for themselves: our daughter passed all her 11+ exams, securing academic scholarships to both Guildford High School and Surbiton High, as well as passing the Sutton Grammar exams for entry to Wallington High and Nonsuch (awaiting Tiffins). Ergo, I cannot thank Dhruva enough for all her time and effort for which we will always be grateful for.

I am delighted to share my appreciation for Dhruva’s English lessons, which have been an invaluable part of my daughter Janvi’s learning journey so far. As a Year 3 student preparing for the 11+ exams, Janvi initially found some aspects of English challenging. However, under Dhruva’s expert guidance, she has made remarkable progress, both in confidence and skill.
Dhruva’s approach to teaching English is not only thorough but also holistic, making a tangible difference in my daughter’s development. Her reading classes, which focus on understanding literary devices, have given Janvi a deeper appreciation of texts. She’s now able to identify metaphors, similes, personification, and more, allowing her to interpret passages with greater insight.
Additionally, Dhruva’s focus on expanding vocabulary through synonyms and antonyms has been a game-changer. Janvi’s word bank has grown significantly, which is helping her with both reading comprehension and writing tasks. The ability to recognize subtle differences between similar words and choose the most fitting one has enhanced her writing style and clarity.
Dhruva’s group reading lessons are engaging, interactive, and well-paced, ensuring children never feel overwhelmed.
Janvi is steadily making progress towards her 11+ goals, and I can confidently say that Dhruva's personalised care and her dedication to teaching has played a pivotal role in this achievement. We as parents are excited to see where this continued progress will take Janvi in the future!

My daughter started her lessons with Dhruva in the last few months of her 11plus prep process - I really appreciated that Dhruva got to know her strengths and development areas properly and tailored her lessons to provide adequate challenge and interest for a child who enjoys being stretched. In an era of industrialised coaching lessons, what stood out for me were two things:
1) Dhruva's genuine interest and love of languages which meant a holistic approach to teaching, not merely going through papers but also offering guided reading and other ways to expand on skills
2) Her interest and understanding of each child's needs and motivations to keep them engaged during a stressful exam prep season

I have personally vouched for Dhruva to various friends and they have all been happy with her lessons

My daughter prepared for a wide range of schools (Tiffin Girls, Sutton Grammars, GHS, WHS, PHS, SPGS, LEH, SHS, KGS) and the results are only just starting to come through now. She passed the Kingston Grammar 10+ process, has scholarship offers from SHS, Guildford High, Putney High and LEH, and unexpectedly got an offer from SPGS as well despite no specific prep - thanks to Dhruva for preparing her well!
