The course content and structure is very comprehensive and well laid out. The Sketchup videos are easy to follow. When I've needed to communicate with them, I've always received a response. I'm looking forward to progressing through the modules.

Loving the course!
I am so pleased I decided to start my interior design journey with IDI. I am currently half way through the course and so far the modules have been really interesting and thorough.

Well worth the money!
The instruction provided by the Interior Design Institute has been incredibly helpful in my first years of interior design work. What I’ve learned so far has been well worth it, and I truly appreciate when my trainer is detail-oriented and gives criticism on how I can improve. I look forward to completing my final modules and would highly recommend this course. Khamille Joy has been an amazing teacher, and I always look forward to hearing her instruction at the end of each module.
I loved learning to create mood boards, and I incorporate these at my job almost every day.

A solid introduction to interior design, but not as complete as expected
I enrolled in the Interior Design Institute course with high expectations. I am currently halfway through the program, and my experience has been mixed so far.
The course material is clear and structured, but it is entirely reading-based. Personally, I expected more video support or recorded explanations from designers to help reinforce the learning process. While this may not be essential for everyone, it would make the course feel more complete.
I also found the tutor support somewhat limited. While working on the floor plan assignment, I sent two emails for clarification, and the responses I received were brief and did not fully address my questions. I eventually had to rely on friends for help to complete the assignment.
Another challenge is that students without prior experience with design software such as SketchUp may find it difficult to keep up, as there is little technical guidance provided.
That said, the course is not bad. It provides a good foundation and useful structure for beginners, but, in my opinion, it could benefit from more interactive teaching resources and stronger engagement with tutors.
Overall, I still believe the program has value, but it did not fully meet the expectations I had when enrolling.

I am really loving this course
I am really loving this course, it is current, intense, informative and provides you with all the tools and support network to help you make it through! It is a challenge for me with working 40 hour weeks and having a busy home life, the good thing is you can go at your own pace. I am finding it really rewarding doing this along side working in the industry so I can test my new learnings day to day.

Quite a challenging course. Interesting enough content, each assignment takes a great deal of time and motivation.

Great experience
The experience has been great. I’m really enjoying both the material and the projects. It’s interesting, and the best part is that it’s very hands-on. The program covers a broad spectrum, so I’m learning many different aspects of the industry, which I love.
The more challenging part is the technical side; learning new programs and figuring out how to use them to complete projects. But when it comes to the actual interior design content, it’s been fantastic.

We completely understand your comments regarding the need for more video content and more technical depth. We’re currently working on a full rewrite of this module, which is scheduled for release within the next month or so. While we realise this won’t directly benefit you now that you’ve completed the module, your feedback is incredibly valuable and is helping shape these improvements.
Regarding the symbols, this is something we approach very carefully. Industry symbols can vary quite significantly from country to country, which makes it challenging to include a single “universal” set that applies everywhere. For this reason, we always encourage our students to supplement their learning with additional local research to ensure they are aligned with industry standards in their specific region.
We really appreciate your input — it plays an important role in helping us improve the course for future students. Thank you for your feedback!

Study at your own pace
The most important advantage of this course for me is that it is self paced. I can complete the modules at my own time, whenever it suits my schedule. The modules are well designed and the assignments at the end of each module motivate me to improve and make my own research that will be useful in real interior design projects. So it is not just theory. I would definitely recommend this course for aspiring interior designers.
