Confidence through learning
’m currently in Module 10 of my interior design program (just two more to go!) and honestly, I’ve loved every part of this journey. What I appreciated most is the flexibility, being able to study alongside running my own interior styling business made it manageable and enjoyable. Modules suggestions
The modules are clear with pictures and details on layouts. I think having updates on these modules with dates is helpful. The Facebook group previously there were examples on assignments but noticed it’s not the same. Also having international students work on these modules will really make it better as we have read through them. Also given everyone uses YouTube tutorials this would also be a good idea.

The Interior Design Institute is one of the best courses I’ve ever done. The modules are extremely detailed and well-structured, breaking down every aspect of design into manageable areas. I’ve even learned to use SketchUp, which I know will be an invaluable skill for my work.
One of the best parts of the course is the support. Each student is assigned a tutor, and I was lucky enough to have Wendy, who has been so kind and encouraging. She made me feel comfortable and confident, especially when I was nervous about submitting my work.
The amount I’ve learned already has been so helpful in my professional journey. From understanding the principles of interior design to exploring its history and even creating floor plans from scratch, every module has been both informative and inspiring.
I’m excited to complete the full program and earn my diploma. This course has been an amazing experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to become an interior designer.

Good Basics, But Lacks Depth and Practical Guidance
I am currently enrolled in the Interior Design Institute (IDI) course and rate it 3 out of 5. While the course offers a basic introduction to interior design, this isn’t clearly communicated upfront, which can be misleading—especially for those who are considering pursuing a career in the field.
The course leans heavily on hand-drawing and does not properly guide students on how to use industry-relevant software. Given that you receive access to several design programs through a student license (which is a great benefit), I believe the course should include at least a basic introduction to these tools. This would better reflect the realities of working in a modern design environment.
Additionally, there is no clear guidance at the start regarding which materials you need to purchase, which can lead to confusion and unnecessary delays. The support offered is also quite limited—responses often feel generic and AI-generated, lacking the personal or technical insight that would truly help students.
Overall, this is a good course if you're looking for a simple overview of interior design. However, if your goal is to gain comprehensive, career-ready skills, be prepared to seek additional resources and learning opportunities beyond what IDI provides.

You’ve raised some very valid points, particularly around practical guidance and clarity on what’s needed at the start. We agree that learning to work with floor plans and digital tools is essential for anyone planning to enter the industry. That’s why we’re currently in the process of rewriting Module 4 to provide more in-depth instruction on how to create floor plans and use those skills more confidently.
We also offer several optional online workshops focused on space planning, with tutorials that walk through the process in more detail — many students have found these helpful as an extra layer of support.
In terms of support, we’re sorry to hear your experience hasn’t felt as personal as it should. We’ll pass this feedback on to the team so we can keep improving.

Initially, I was skeptical about taking an interior design course online, as I thought it would lack the hands-on, field experience that design work requires.
