Ordered Christmas drink...7 bottles... one got smashed in transit...rang up drink basket twice... took my details.. said someone will ring you back ...still waiting...3 weeks later... ordered plenty of drink basket over the years... just goes to show..any problems..they take you money and run .... definitely won't be using drink basket again
Not Always Customer Friendly
I ordered a bottle of Thunder (the brand name) Rhubarb & Ginger vodka from The Drinks Basket via Amazon. I wanted to try it as I have bought the Thunder Toffee Vodka a few times over the past year or two. I have to admit that I have mainly bought the toffee version from a local warehouse cash & carry as it does not incur the shipping cost. However, as the rhubarb version is listed as a limited edition and works out to about £3 more expensive, there is no problem on that score as obviously different flavour = different price.
However, when the box arrived I opened it to find a bottle of the toffee version. I immediately contacted the company via Amazon to let them know. I was sent a reply saying the 'relevant department' would contact me. I waited a few days and sent them another message in which I suggested they either reimburse me the difference in price, or even better they send a replacement and get the delivery person to collect the wrong item (still in its box) and return it to the company. I thought these were good ideas. I had mentioned in my message to them, that as I am now in my seventh decade of life it was to much hassle to lug the thing to a post office and pay the postage etc to return it.
I then heard from the 'relevant department' who just sent a copy of the route the package took to arrive at my address. It was just letting me know that I had received a package - which I obviously knew as I had told them it had arrived. Alibet the wrong thing arrived and as I had used the 'track my package' on the Amazon site, it seemed pointless sending me the details of the tracking. I wrote back to explain that detail, and have heard nothing/nada since then.So now I am the proud owner of the wrong item.
I told them I would just write a review on Amazon - and here, to let people know about the bad deal I received. I did the Amazon review and had a message from Amazon saying it would 'look into the matter'. (I'm not sure if they have put my review on the site yet). However, I am a bit annoyed that a company the size of The Drinks Basket treats people in this way. I guess they realise - in the same way as the government do, that pensioners are the easiest target as they are past their use/sell-by-date and will be dead soon. I assume 'hopefully' - before there is a massive repayment of £3(ish) - which may or may not bankrupt the company, or a replacement by sending the correct (bought and paid for) bottle of vodka.
I think I have ordered from them before and taking my money is no problem. Admitting they make mistakes is another ball game entirely, or so it seems.
I just find it incredible that companies act in this manner. I have never been dismissed/ignored so abruptly by any company I have dealt with over the past sixty odd years. I suppose it is a sign of the times. But hey-ho. I'll be a pile of burned ashes or a pile of bones in a wooden box soon. So that will be a relief to any company who refuses to sort out genuine mistakes they make. But at least I contributed an extra £3 profit before being given the finger. God bless the little angels in charge of this company for being so dedicated toward making maximum profit at the cost of a customer.
#Edit: - I heard from Amazon today. It seems that pointing out detailed problems about a delivery, the response from a company, the price difference between what was ordered and what arrived is not allowed. It was more-or-less the same as my comment above. Oh well, the big boys win, I lose. So much for fairness and honesty with established companies. Is it even worth the bother of being honest - it gets you nowhere.

CAM, SCAM SCAM. Do not order from this company, it is a scam. I placed an order 10 days ago with next day delivery, nothing. Sent an emai, no answer, phoned up, nobody picked up no answer. I will phone my bank today and contact the police to warn of this company and web site.

Very poor customer service
I ordered 3 bottles of Scotch, but when they arrived they were not the ones I ordered. Two phone calls and three emails later, and I'm still waiting for an acknowledgement let alone a resolution. Very poor customer service.
