Enchanted Bed Company (Topsham)
We bought a bespoke European king size bed from Enchanted Beds (formerly Dartmoor Bed Company) in Topsham, Devon. Two years ago. Great service, great choice of beds, but best of all, we could buy the bed-size we wanted.
However, within a year we began to detect an odour coming from the (Widdecombe) headboard. Not strong at first, but it grew. Strangely, this indescribable odour would come and go. Eventually, we reported it, but unfortunately on the day the company sent someone to check it out, the smell was not there. A week later, it came back with a vengeance. Following advice we detached it from the bed and put it in another bedroom. Again the odour came and went. Enchanted Beds couldn't help, so the only option was to buy a new one. (July 2025). At the time the new headboard arrived, the old headboard was 'ripe'. Even the removal guys agreed there was a smell. Enchanted Beds promised they would investigate and report back. A month later, we were informed they could not detect a bad smell. Their investigation was inconclusive. We were shocked.
The question is, are we the only customers with this problem? Please let us know. Or let the company know. This smell woke us up at night on occassions, it was sometimes that strong.
