Disgusting company

This company needs shutting down, it is diabolical, its disgusting how you prey on elderly people. They've been taking money from my mums account since 2014, dread to think how much she's lost. Luckily the bank flagged a payment which brought it to our attention. The thing is we dont even know how my mums got on their system. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

They Hang up when you try to cancel. The online site refuses to let you register to manage your account.
UPDATE:
After initial frustration, I managed to cancel by phone, and was actually dealt with in a polite and professional manner.

No Big Saving at All!

Like most of the reviews here I’ve just been through my 76 year old mothers. This company have taken £174.00 from her account - she is very vulnerable. This is of no use to her and probably not even aware of the money being taken - I will be taking action to get her money back. Absolute disgrace!!

We can assure you that any charges applied and associated with our memberships do require permission to confirm understanding and agreement when the member calls our order line. It is definitely not our intention to offer the membership club to vulnerable individuals.

We would like to look into this matter further for you, please email into enquiries@thebigsavingsclub.com so that we can assist you.

Hi Anthony,

We are very sorry to hear that you feel this way.

Any membership charges incurred will be taken from the original billing source used when purchasing a product on the order line. The Individual would need to call up and provide their own banking information and provide a password to join.

If you feel that something has gone wrong please email in to enquiries@thebigsavingsclub.com so that we can investigate this for you.

Shame on you!

My elderly mother has been charged for a membership she never took out, just like all these other people. There’s no way she gave out her bank details. She wouldn’t know them! Scam artists. Shame on you.

Yep all totally legit..?

Yep all totally legit... until your customer is an 88 year old lady trying her best to avoid scams and gotyas.
Totally unaware of her membership and the direct debit.
Would be interesting to know the age profile of this company's customers. I think I know the answer and they should ask themselves why is this the case and do they care about it...?
She won't be taking her European holiday benefit..or any of the other "benefits" apart from perhaps a £10 Sainsbury's voucher.
Membership cancelled. The company should proactively contact elderly customers annually to check there really is a benefit for them and they want to continue membership before they "take" their money...again and again. Not all will be capable of helping themselves.

Scam - Fraud confirmed by bank

The big savings club tried to take £110 from my uncle's bank. Thankfully they alerted him to the activity being fraudulent.

Whether its a scammer using the Service user number of The big savings club or then directly. Avoid at all costs.

Hi Dave,

We take claims of mis-sold memberships seriously, as transparency with our products and processes is a top priority of ours.

If at any point during this initial phone call it is deemed the member is in anyway vulnerable or unable to make an informed decision on the suability of the club, the membership would not have gone ahead. Unfortunately, this isn’t always immediately obvious over the phone.

Furthermore, if a claim is made that guidelines have not been followed, we will always to our best to investigate the matter.

Please do get in touch.

Hi there Victor,

We are sorry to hear that you have unwanted charges on your account.

However, here at the Big Savings Club £29.95 is not a charge we would debit for our membership. Any charges from ourselves would have 'The Big Savings Club' displayed on the reference. We have been confused a lot recently with a few different companies with similar/shortened names.

We kindly request that you please remove your review as it has nothing to do with our company.

Also looking at your previous replies to reviews you’ve said that people have been confused with another company. But when you go onto your website it says that premium is £29.99, how conveniently! More of the same

More of the same, taking £24.98 from my elderly father’s account for something that not only he didn’t sign up for but cannot use. When ringing up they keep saying the will ring him back but no one ever does, we’ve just written this money off and cancelled the cards. Don’t know how these people sleep at night

Unauthorized Deceptive Practices For Financial Gain

Original 1* Review

Unauthorized charges of 2 x £24.98 and 1x £44.99 was debited from my bank account with description ,"16 Jan £44.99 BIG SAVINGS CLUB 01273 668849 GB", causing authorised bills not to be paid. I never signed up to this company, have no idea who this company is until a random charge was illegally taken from my bank account. The absence of any agreement or recognition with this entity intensifies my repulsion at their blatant lack of integrity.

I would never agree to this charge in a million years so deceptive practices have been used to get my bank details. I have no idea who this company is, what they do or who they partner with.

Details have been gained by deception. I have visited their website trying to resolve the issue, used my email address to try login to their website, to which I was prompted with a message "Invalid username or email". The reason why, I never gave them my details, never agreed to pay them, never signed any contract. This breach of privacy and trust is not only unethical but showcases a severe deficiency in moral standards.

I contacted the company to try resolve the issue and get a refund, I was greeted with:

"From: enquiries (at) thebigsavingsclub (dot) com

Thank you for contacting us.

Please be assured that our Customer Support Team will always endeavour to respond as quickly as possible. Sometimes due to high volumes of mail we can receive from our Members, we kindly ask that you allow up to 2 working days for a response.

Your understanding is appreciated and we look forward to assisting you with your enquiry.

Customer Support
The Big Savings Club
www (dot) thebigsavingsclub (dot) com
01273 668 849".

As usual with these emotionally defective individuals, their swift ability to deduct funds sharply contrasts with their apparent sluggishness in addressing issues, perpetuating a disheartening pattern of unethical conduct.

Picture this, it has just been Christmas, funds are low, there's a cost of living crisis, energy prices, food prices etc are at a high, everyone is struggling to heat their home and eat in winter. And this companies deceptive practices put you into financial hardship, true story.

Updated 3* Review

Update: After making a one time purchase with Ideal World in November 2022 for a pair of boots, Ideal World unknowingly signed me up to The Big Savings Club which led to charges of 2 x £24.98 and 1x £44.99 unknown to myself. Who, have fully funded the money as a gesture of good will. So the deceptive practices come from The Big Savings Club buissness relationship with Ideal World.

In defence of the company, once I made them aware of the deception, they have righted the wrongs. It was an advisor called Kelsey Lee who showed a moral compass and rescued the negligent actions of colleagues past.

Hi there Lee,

We’re sorry to hear you feel the service you received had been unsatisfactory in the first instance.

We take claims of mis-sold memberships seriously, as transparency with our products and processes is a top priority of ours. At time of initial agreement, the advisor should always cover any charges involved, the opt out policy and passing of details.

In this case it was established the post was being sent to an older address, as we’d not been notified of the change. However, it was great to speak with you today and resolve the matter.
