Rude, aggressive & blunt staff who refuse complaints
I recently trusted The Bid to handle the auction of my nan’s bungalow, and it has been an absolute nightmare. I have never encountered a team so universally rude, aggressive, and dismissive. If you value your sanity, steer completely clear of Bid.
What makes this even worse is the sheer lack of empathy. I am the last remaining relative dealing with my nan during an incredibly difficult time—moving her out of the family home, getting her settled into a care home, and trying to manage her care costs and house sale all at once. It is already an exhausting, stressful situation, and Bid have actively dragged me lower and left me feeling completely deflated when I needed professionalism the most.
Here is a summary of how they operate:
Deceptive / Mis-selling: I was sold a package with a legal pack included. Turns out, it isn't the legal fees, I have to do that seperately, but when I questioned this, Kelly (Head of Sales) condescendingly told me "nobody includes legal fees" - like I should know this myself as i'm a part-time estate agent (If I was.... I wouldn't be needing help to sell a property).
Abysmal Customer Service & Aggression: The staff (specifically Gabby, and Kelly) have little communication etiquette. Gabby gave me conflicting information, flat-out lied about conversations she supposedly had with the local estate agent, and when I called her out on the inconsistencies, she ended up putting the phone down on me.
Zero Accountability & Stonewalling: When I asked to escalate my complaint to a manager, I was lied to. I was promised call-backs that never happened. When I got in touch with the company again and spoke to Kelly, she was incredibly defensive, dismissive, and refused to let me speak to Head Office. Staff here like to pass the blame between each other too.
Illegal Refusal of Subject Access Request (SAR): Because of how horribly I was spoken to, I requested copies of my call recordings under a Subject Access Request. Kelly flat-out refused to provide them. The only logical conclusion is that they've listened to how aggressive their staff were and the confliciting information and are actively hiding the evidence because they know they are in the wrong. I just cannot work out why else you would refuse it.
Inaccurate Marketing: They couldn't even be bothered to do a basic Google search when writing the property description. They highlighted schools that are a 50+ minute walk away, while completely ignoring the brilliant local schools and a specialized school for children with disabilities right behind the bungalow (a 4-to-5 minute walk). It shows a total lack of care.
This company takes the buyers £9600, misleads the seller, treats you like dirt on the phone, and then stops you from making a formal complaint. I wouldn't trust them with a family property ever again, absolutely shocking behaviour. 😭
