Never again
Never again. Suprises me they are still around, 5 out of my last 5 dealings with these dishonest people have been negative. Someone at this place must suffer from hyperhidrosis. Save yourself the headache and ignore their high dollar bids for your books. They lack communication skills, offer little explanation when a book is not accepted, and if they offer any explanation *see hyperhidrosis comment above. No one is minding the children on the book buying playground. It would be nice to have just one of these in play
1-books returned
2- the option to have them returned even if there is a cost to do so
3-proof of their "recycling" they claim to do with rejected books.
Without a watchdog over the playground, the continued thievery of millions of books every year will continue. Do not trust them.

Don't do it.
Id give them 0 stars if I could. Pretty sure they stole my book... Just received in the mail the shipping label cut of off of the package I sent with a sticker saying it was refused. No book, no money and it's over a month later.
Do not suggest selling your books to…
Do not suggest selling your books to them at all. They offered me about 3 dollars more for a book so I selected them. I sold over 35 textbooks after finishing my RN degree and they were the only company I had issues with. Claimed they had to take off $16 on a textbook as it had a 1 inch by .25 inch stain on the inside cover.
Then when requesting picture you one can’t even tell and then they are claiming water damage now. This is all in a book I never even used just brought to class to not get in trouble.
Stay away, liars, and much better companies to use. Bookbyte, Amazon, Abe books, etc
Stay far far away.
I mailed my books in to Textbook Maniac…
I mailed my books in to Textbook Maniac about a week and a half ago. They were delivered to them exactly 8 days ago, and despite their claim that you're paid within 5 days of receipt I have yet to be paid for them. I sent them a message that was supposed to responded to "within 24 hours" according to the company, and it was not responded to within that time frame, or even at all. I am very disappointed by their lack of responsiveness and would not recommend them to anybody I know.

Two good experiences, one bad one
I have had two very good experiences with this company, and one very bad one.
With the first two times, everything went off without a hitch--I used their shipping labels to send the books in question by media mail, they promptly received the books and I received the stated payment within five business days.
The third time around however, they claimed they could not buy one of my books because it had "excessive writing" (there were only notes in the margins in the first out of 30 chapters, and I have seen buyback companies buy works in much worse condition before). Even worse however, was their claim that one of the books I sent was fake. I know this is total BS, because I used the book in a PhD Level course last semester, and it was identical to all my classmates' and the professor's copy. . . .moreover, I got an A in the course using the book! The idea that it is fake is simply preposterous.
They ended up sending the book back to me. I will note that unlike many of the bad review stories I am seeing here, THEY DID NOT MAKE ME PAY THE RETURN SHIPPING. . .I spoke to a customer service rep on the phone, and he had them ship it back to me free of charge.
I am quite upset that they accused me of trying to sell a counterfeit book when I know for a fact that the book is real, but I was pleasantly surprised with their customer service, at least. Thus the three star rating.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH…
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH TEXTBOOKMANIACS.COM. I recently sent a book to them to re-sell and three weeks later I received an email stating that the book I sent was a fraudulent copy which I know for a fact it wasn’t. They would not pay me for it and said that if I wanted the book returned to me that I would have to pay the shipping. After speaking to three different people, I was ultimately told that they couldn’t prove that the book they were looking at was in fact the one I sent to them. I received the book in the mail today, after insisting that they pay the shipping, and I can 100% say that the book they sent me was definitely not the book I sent in. Should have checked their reviews first I guess since when I posted mine I was not alone with the same complaint. Apparently they base their business on scamming people.

Terrible experience with this company
Terrible experience with this company. I received a quote and a shipping label. I shipped the book out and the book was in great condition with only minimal wear and tear, with no highlights. They received the book, (as I tracked it) and they notified me that they received it, days late I might add. And then whenever it was passed the date that I should have received my money, they then emailed me and said that the book has a different cover than they thought it should. I have never altered a book to change the cover. They then changed my quote to zero dollars and said I would have to pay return shipping for the book! Stay away from this company at all costs! Book thieves!

Great Company To Do Business With
I've used this company for buybacks for over a year and have nothing but praise for the integrity of their service. This is one of the few buyback companies will still pay you a generous portion of their quoted price if the book does not completely meet all their condition requirement. (Other companies will discard the book for one violation.) They are easy to deal with and pay promptly. I've sent dozens of buybacks to them and never experienced any difficulty with them. A very competent and trustworthy company!
Avoid if at all possible
My preferred seller is amzn. Since they were not accepting couple of my books, I had to use this vendor. After receiving the book, they said 'water damage' and reduced the price by 57%. We do not have a choice as we need to pay for shipping to get the book back. That may not be worth sometimes. Once I accepted their reduced price, they paid it promptly.

DO NOT USE
They will quote you a fair price and then change it once they have books in hand. Additionally, they lie about the condition of the book when received. I sent new, never used textbooks to them and was the emailed that the cover and pages were ripped so that they could give a price lower than quoted.
They do give the option of returning the (now damaged?) book, but the shipping charge is higher than the deducted buy back price. Total scam.

Stole my books!
Stole my books!
These people claimed that my book was an instructor's copy and then said I'D have to pay for the return shipping. Don't sell to them they will steal your books and you won't see a penny!

I don't recommend selling to them
I don't recommend selling to them. The shipping label they send is for Media Mail, which is notoriously unreliable. They quoted me an unbelievably high payout, so I picked them over other options. Well, Media Mail made it all the way to Huntsville AL, which is where Textbook Maniac is located and then... stopped updating tracking. I'm pretty sure the package was delivered without being scanned, but Textbook Maniac told me they never got it. I emailed them several times and got contradictory responses.

Thieves
I shipped the book and it got to them within two days. I then got four emails all at the same time (exact same minute). First email said they got it and were processing it. The next email said they couldn’t pay me for it because their “superiors deemed it a fake book” and I could pay them to return it to me or they’d recycle it within ten days. Then an email with the book deducted from my total (now $0) and then another email saying they got my order and were now processing it. The book was brand new, hardly used, and definitely not fake. Horrendous company/service. Unfortunately sent them a rude email back.

Scam!
Do not sell to them! I sold two books to them a couple weeks ago and they claimed that they both had water damage (which they did not) and only gave me half the money. They also acted like they were doing me a favor by accepting them. I would not have sold it to them, except the other option was to pay for the shipping back to me. Do NOT sell to them!

Sold 2 textbooks and got a fair price for both. Had a great experience. I boxed books and sent them, got a check within a month. They bought one textbook back when other sites asked me to donate it!
SCAM! Stay away!
The company is a scam. BEWARE! I sent my textbooks to this company on 5/10/2018 and have not received any payment (today is 6/7/2018). I have emailed the customer service three times now, each time they respond saying that my order is "processing." At this point, I do not expect to realistically receive any payment. It's disgusting to me that this company has created a business based on taking advantage of students.

Bunch of lying, cheating, thieving gangsters. Claim your books are either lost or damaged during delivery. Just read the bad reviews. The good reviews are fake.

Excellent experience
Excellent experience. Super easy transaction and got paid quickly the exact quoted amount. Would recommend to everyone.
Theyll steal your books and say theyre…
Theyll steal your books and say theyre severely damaged then hold them hostage for a $4 shipping charge. Dont sell here, youll just lose your stuff or your money.
Reply from Textbook Manic (AKA Textbook Crooks): "Maybe it was damaged in transit." The book was packed in a sturdy box with bubble wrap and sent off in good condition. Yet somehow it arrived with "severe damage with staining and water wrinkling." Either TM needs to find themselves a better shipper that won't leave packages out in the rain or they are crooks who stole my book, got out of paying me $50, & got to re-sell the book for a hefty markup. Burn your old textbooks before you let these people steal yours for a profit.

I have used them 3 times this month, and I was never disappointed. Sold them textbooks, got paid exactly how they quoted. Payment was fast.
