A Costly Mistake: My Experience with Terranova
My experience with Terranova has been extremely disappointing.
I initially hired Terranova in January 2026 to investigate and repair a leak in my roof. My choice was based on its strong reputation, positive online reviews, and recommendations from two people who had previously used its services.
After inspecting the roof using scaffolding, I was advised that a complete roof replacement was necessary rather than simply repairing the chimney leak, and because the weather made the repairs urgent, other work would be postponed so my property could be prioritised. A handwritten agreement for the full roof replacement was signed by both parties on the same day.
Communication throughout the project was poor. There were frequent requests for payment, but the regular updates and daily progress videos that had been promised were not consistently provided.
When the work was said to be complete, I identified five outstanding issues and notified the company by email. The supervisor agreed that these issues required attention, and the roofers returned to carry out further work. However, three significant issues remain unresolved.
Firstly, the site was not properly cleared. After the supervisor left, the workers stopped cleaning up and left debris on the lower roof and around the property. They also left a tap and hosepipe running when they departed.
Secondly, as I only discovered subsequently, the rotten timber beside the chimney had not been replaced but simply covered over. Thirdly, and again only discovered subsequently, the guttering has not been properly affixed, causing leakage when it rains. This has left me questioning the quality and integrity of the whole roof replacement. When I emailed Terranove again I had no response
A further concern was that without informing me or obtaining my permission, they treated the beading, without allowing to wood to dry out for a month as had been agreed, and involving toxic chemicals which meant the house should have been vacated, as had also been agreed. This raises concerns not only about workmanship but also about health and safety.
I therefore sought an independent opinion from another experienced roofer. He advised that while the roofing membrane used was of good quality, parts of the tiling workmanship were poor, the reclaimed tiles had not been cleaned as agreed, and the flashing work was incomplete. He also commented that the guttering installation and mismatched black fascia were below the expected standard and out of keeping with neighbouring properties. Most importantly, he stated that the rotten timber should never have been left in place beneath a covering piece of wood.
Overall, this has been an expensive and stressful experience. Based on my own experience, I cannot recommend Terranova.
