Thank you for a truly unforgettable experience
Thank you for a truly unforgettable customer experience. I have never felt so humiliated while simply trying to buy a phone.
I have been a loyal customer for years. I have previously purchased devices from you in instalments and have always paid my bills and financial obligations on time. Yet after placing an online order, providing the requested information, and coming to the store in person, I found myself in the ridiculous position of having to practically prove that I could afford a phone.
I have a permanent employment contract, where I have been working as a developer for approximately three years. I have had a car lease for almost four years and have always met my financial obligations. I have also had other instalment purchases and financial commitments without any issues.
Apparently, however, none of this is sufficient to purchase an ordinary phone from you in instalments. I was told that I would need a guarantor who has permanent residence in Slovenia and permanent employment.
The most disappointing part is not even the decision itself, but the way the entire process is handled from the customer’s perspective. I placed the order, submitted the requested information, travelled to the store in person, and only then discovered that I was expected to provide a guarantor. In the end, my online order was simply cancelled.
If these are your company’s internal rules and credit criteria, that is of course your decision. However, it would be far more professional and respectful to clearly communicate such requirements BEFORE a customer places an order and comes to the store — rather than putting them in an uncomfortable and humiliating situation at the very end of the process.
At this point, it is not even about the phone. I can easily buy one somewhere else without going through all of this. It is about how you treat your customers.
After being a customer for several years and consistently meeting my obligations, it is remarkable to be treated with this level of distrust and made to feel that I have to prove that I am somehow “suitable” enough to buy a phone from you in instalments.
So, thank you for the experience. I will buy the phone elsewhere. Unfortunately, the impression of how your company treats a long-term customer will stay with me for much longer.
