Scammers - Please Avoid!!

I would not recommend Techgear London based on my experience.
I took my phone in because it was stuck on the logo. I was initially told it was a battery issue, then later a “display chip”, and eventually a “motherboard” problem. The diagnosis kept changing, which made it difficult to trust what I was being told.
They also asked me to pay upfront for parts and labour before the full problem was diagnosed. After repeated delays and confusing explanations, I demanded my phone be returned. I had to fight for my refund after a very unpleasant exchange. I dislike confrontations, and this experience left me shaken, but I’m glad I stood my ground.
My phone was kept for almost a week. After speaking to other repair shops, I was advised that the information I had been given did not sound accurate, and that the phone should not have been kept that long without a clear diagnosis.
I also experienced some account security issues after this period. I cannot say whether this was related, but it has added to my concerns.
Looking back, I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews before using this shop. The positive reviews on Google are not honest and made by similar names/surnames. I would strongly recommend others do their research and consider alternatives.

Avoid this company—scammers with a storefront.

They claim to take payment after the job is done, but they charged me before starting on my PC.

I brought my PC in because it wouldn’t turn on. They initially quoted £60 but invoiced me £300 before the work was finished. They replaced my SSD (with FIFA 23 files on it) and installed a dodgy version of Windows. Parts were missing, and after three days, the PC stopped working again.

Their communication is atrocious—constant chasing, missed deadlines, and broken promises. A so-called “technician” came to my place just to press the power button and confirm it didn’t turn on. The manager never called back despite multiple assurances. I essentially had an email conversation with myself.

I was eventually given a partial refund, but I still believe they shouldn’t have been paid at all. My missing parts remain unaccounted for. They insist they were inside the PC, but I provided video proof they weren’t. In the end he just sent me £50 to replace the missing SSD and the other missing parts. I have changed my passwords on everything and it was good to do so since I had a ping come up saying that someone was trying to access my email the day after my pc came back.

Also my computer became really slow after its return from them so do not know what they have done. I will have to send it back to the original company who made my PC to diagnose the issue so that they can fix it for me. I cant even play the most simple games without it being really slow and dropping frames. If you are a student, professional or casual gamer AVOID at all costs!

I reported them to Trading Standards, and I recommend anyone else do the same.

This ordeal began in November and dragged into February, with the company ignoring my messages while seemingly faking positive reviews or replying to negative reviews that they believe were not real.

Also saw other reviews that included the emergency stuff so the owner couldn't reply like family in hospital, they were in hospital, in Manchester so cant deal with the issue and I find it funny how its the same story with all of us.

Save yourself the headache—do not use this company for repairs or anything. And if you already have used them then goodluck and report it to Trading standards!

Scammer Scumbags

If I could rate these rip off scumbags lower I would. Unprofessional, scam artists. Avoid at all costs

Went and inquired about my ps5 to be repaired, as I had a problem with my fan it wasn’t working or making any sound, besides making a thump noise every 20 second , it was overheating then turning off within minutes of turning it on, was quoted £40-50

Took it in on a Friday a week or two later, suddenly I was gold it was £80 to get a “deep clean” and an extra £40 to get new thermal paste, I said it was the fan, got told no no it’s a known issue and that this would fix it

It was my own fault and stupidly agreed as I already took it in, card machine came out, tapped my card

They firstly didn’t tell me that there was vat on top, so the bill came to £145 I only found this out when I checked the receipt I asked for when got on the tube

Went away, looked online as I felt something was wrong, my heart dropped, most of the positive reviews on google are clearly written by bots or just plain fake, they all quote the same rubbish and are poorly spelt. Most of the reviews with more information are so so low and have a list of horror story’s

2 days of agonising go past, I keep telling myself it would be ok and that I’m overthinking things

On the Monday morning my phone starts pinging constantly, the PlayStation app on my phone was informing me I was playing a game fallout 4.. I assumed they were just testing it, the pings continue for hours, then new ones popped up, they were downloading games from my digital library

I call them up and ask if my PlayStation is ready to be picked up, I get fobbed off and say they would call me when it’s done. I confront them and ask them why they were playing games on it and downloading games from my library from my personal account. The owner got very angry with me, made up some rubbish and started raising his voice making excuses. I didn't back down and asked if it was necessary for a deep clean. He begrudgingly said he’d talk to the person and that he was closing it up now and it would be ready to collect in a few hours.

Picked up the PlayStation, I asked if they tested it to make sure it worked, the owner was sitting there then hid in the back when I came in. One of the other guys said yes, I asked if there was a problem what guarantees do I have, they said 3 months or something to that level

Took the console home, plugged it in it immediately had the same issue, nothing had been done to it. Same issue, I called up, and told them it wasn’t working “that’s why I was downloading the game” I got as a reply, I asked what they were going to do about it, and got told that he would speak to his boss and call me back

Checked the outside of the case and there was dust on the vents still. Great deep clean

Guess what? Surprise surprise no one got back to me. Life got in the way and never went Back to them physically.

Friends told me to change all the passwords, add a 2 factor log in , delete payment information, and 100% not take it back as I had clearly been mugged off.

A deep clean does not require anyone to access your account information, or download games

with a PlayStation you can use your own account or set up a new guest profile (I had an offline account for my girlfriend on there) but they didn’t bother and used mine

Don’t make the same mistake I made by stupidly trusting them I’m down £145 and nothing was done. Just read through their reviews, most seem to be written worse than if AI wrote them.

Avoid like the plague

DON'T TRUST THEM !!

Spent an hour arguing with these guys because they wouldn't give me a refund.
All i wanted was a cable for ipad to tv and they sold me a really really expensive usb-c adaptor and hdmi cable claiming "its definitely going to work i promise you". of course it didn't work at all. so next day i return it and ask for a refund. after much arguing they eventually agreed!! but then told me they needed half an hour to go through 'security checks'. so i return after half an hour and then suddenly they've changed their minds!!! so then i have to argue again with the manager who tells me they will give me another cable. i don't want another cable, i just want my money back. i looked online and i think i've found the right cable and its not the one they offered me. i don't trust anything these guys say. the manager then threatened to fight me in court 'on principle'. as if the idea that the customer is always right is a principle that is wrong. My advice is stay away from them. Here are their details:
