When I didn't have issues, the platform is easy to use for scheduling and staying in contact with therapists. BUT when I needed customer assistance the platform is terrible. No phone number. The chat sets you up with AI. When you do need an agent, they keep you waiting for a long time. All for a simple fix that if I was on the phone with someone I'd be able to resolve the issue just by sending a photo or chatting for 2 mins or less.

This isn't a review about my therapist, this is specifically for TalkSpace. TalkSpace will not provide invoices, due dates, or notices for when you will be charged for your sessions. They send it to your insurance, once the insurance processes it you will then get charged directly to the card or bank account you provided when signing up for their services. If you have a usually empty bank account like mine, then this will be a problem as I have to budget and track every penny coming out of my account. This has caused me to overdraw, come up short for rent or other bills, and had to dispute one of the charges with my bank because I was charged for a full 60 min when the provider was only with me for 30. I have been seeing my therapist since the beginning of March, I just got billed for the three sessions I've had all at once so $325 was unexpectedly taken out of my account and I now have no money for gas to get to work for the next two weeks since they happened to hit my bank account right after I was paid. I had previous communication with TalkSpace regarding getting notices or invoices before they charge my account and they told me they are unable to do so but is happy to provide me with an account summary at the end of the billing cycle each month..like that would help me in the moments they are unexpectedly taking money out of my account. If you are on a tight budget and you have really bad insurance like I do (giant booooooooooo to united healthcare, insurance is the biggest scam in the USA) then do not go through TalkSpace, go through a provider that is willing to invoice you or tell you the cost ahead of time. I paid $124 for one session, $66 for the second, and $132 for the third so I can't even plan for these expenses. If they would be willing to give me an invoice amount and a date they will be charging my account I can work with that but they won't.

The flexibility is great! I love that I can schedule when it fits into my schedule best. I can adjust the time length of the appointments.

The platform is extremely accessible and easy to use/navigate. I meet with two different professionals and they both offer excellent services. I loved being able to search for a therapist that met my specific needs.

I appreciated my therapist very much. There were only a few technical issues i had trouble with such us : rescheduling forced your appointment to be a video call ( which i personally do not want ). receiving phone calls or certain notifications while in a call would force mute you and the only way to unmute would be to re-join the call. The reminder that your appointment was tomorrow happens at exactly 24 hours before the appointment, when you can no longer adjust your time, or three days before ; I think the reminder should be the hour before the 24 hour mark, things happen. I understand the 24 hour rule for therapists but there were several appointments i had to attend while sick. Additionally, setting the next appointment out of the session - i do not know my availability very far in advance due to work, which meant i was making guesses when id be available. If i was not set to points given to me by work, and had insurance that would cover the program, i would have continued using this service in place of in person therapy.

I was worried that video calls wouldn't work as well as face- to-face, but I have found that my Talkspace therapy is comfortable and immersive.
My therapist is the best- she keeps me focused on the hard tasks that I'd love to avoid, and really listens.
Unlike several other therapists I have had over the years, I feel like she and I are making true progress.

I've made a great connection with my therapist over the course of our time together. She has a good memory when it comes to the wide range of things we've talked about, she's very encouraging and supportive of me, and I really feel like I can talk to her about anything. The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is mainly because our sessions are pretty formal (which I selected), but sometimes it can be a little too formal (i.e. hearing her kids outside the door, cat interrupting sessions lol, other misc. interruptions). We still have great sessions though.

Janelle is very insightful. She has brought up things in therapy that I did realize was the root of most of my issues. I look forward to continue working with her.

Kelly is always kind, caring, and gives tangible actions and advice for me to use. She has helped me tremendously in the time I've been seeing her.

We appreciated the therapist’s support. However, the sessions tended to be more open-ended and did not provide the level of structure or clear guidance we were looking for. Over time, we found ourselves revisiting the same issues without defined strategies or agreements to move things forward.
For couples dealing with recurring conflict, a more directive and structured approach may be helpful.
