After numerous phone calls and emails, I can say they finally have delivered. The quality and finish of the product were never in question. I agreed to a neutral rating upon delivery of the product after a lengthy and frustrating wait for the product following prompt payment.

The most expensive mistake I have ever…

The most expensive mistake I have ever made. I like the concept and decided to purchase one. I wasn't able to hang it right away and the batteries went dead. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't get into it so I called the company and they said buy another battery pack. (Imagine that, spend more money!) I ordered the battery pack, and when it arrived, it's still would not open the shelf. I have never been so frustrated with a product in all my life. The idea is nice, but the design is terrible and you're pretty well stuck, if you have the misfortune like I did. Save the money!!
UPDATE: After receiving a response to my review, Tactical Traps, was NOT correct with their responce. Yes, it was a while since I ordered the shelf, however, I did reach out.. MARCH 2026!! This is where they told me they couldn't assist me. All I could do was buy more of their products which, in my original post, did NOTHING to fix the problem! Bottom line their product has a POOR design & should be worked out if they want to continue to charge such large prices.
TO TACTICAL TRAPS: While I appreciate you looking into the history of my purchase AFTER this review, why didn't you just do that when I called and asked you to help me. If you had put that much effort into assisting me, you wouldn't have received a FACTUAL review like this! AND Rebuking a review doesn't make your poorly designed product better!!

We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble, but we do need to clarify a few things.

This order was placed approximately 6 years ago. The battery pack you mentioned is included with the original purchase, so a replacement is only needed if the original was lost over time.

We also have no record of you reaching out to us at any point over the past 6 years for assistance. In most cases, situations like this can be resolved quickly with basic troubleshooting.

Leaving a review years later, without ever contacting us for support, doesn’t give us a fair opportunity to help or correct the issue.

That said, if you’d like help getting your unit working properly, our support team is here and happy to assist.

I have a shelf but the batteries went…

I have a shelf but the batteries went dead n I could t get it open because the charging wire to lock was bad. I never knew until I needed to use it. Good shelf n quality in all but I was told they had a FIRE N they don’t know if they have the part I need to get my box open if I need to in case my batteries went dead again. I really don’t want to mess up my wall again to get this box. So I hope they have a replacement because I don’t have anything to do with yall having a FIRE..My apologies but I paid yall too. Why must the customer suffer because yall had a fire in the replacements could be lost. This is very bad business. I was just getting ready to purchase 2 more for my new house but if yall have another FIRE again I need a replacement part imma be SHIT OUT OF LUCK AGAIN..😢😢

Hi Eddie, We had a fire and the entire building burnt to the ground. Everything inside went with it. We now have updated locks and wires for our locks. Please email us photos of the side of your lock and we can take a look to see if this wire is part of the new locks systems.

The shelf is attractive looking but we…

The shelf is attractive looking but we are constantly having to replace the batteries, which is no easy feat. It seems like every time we open the shelf the lock won't engage again. We do all the trouble shooting steps and ultimately end up replacing the batteries. After this last episode we're going to replace the batteries, close the door and no longer use it as a gun safe. It's now just a shelf. Bad design where the batteries are located. Sorry Tactical Traps, pretty to look at for functionality sucks.

Order # 352023,352025. Great experience! My very first time dealing with the company I was concerned 😟. It was heavily damaged in shipping, but they handled it professionally! They replaced the product and sent my other orders without incident or hassle! I would recommend tactical traps to anyone who needs gun concealment products! They make quality products and are top notch!

Customer Service cant get any worse!

I ordered a tactical shelf, due to the holiday season, I waited until the 14 business days to reach out and check the status. I was told that my unit was complete, but they were waiting on hinges. I waited another 2 weeks and was told that they were waiting on parts (still?). As I was getting frustrated I said cancel my order, I'm no longer interested. I was put on hold and the rep stated that she "caught the manager in passing in the hall" and would mail out a unit that day. When it came, It was missing the foam insert. I mounted it, and it didn't work. I called and stated that I wanted to return the unit and get a refund. instead I was sent a troubleshooting link. No wanting to deal with this any longer, I asked to speak to a manager. I was told that I would get a call by the end of the day. Instead I got an email stating that, the "unit is no longer refundable because I mounted it" For the next several days I kept calling, asking to speak to a manager and every time I was lied to with the same lie of "They will call you by the end of the day" After 2 complaints with the BBB, I finally got a call back. I did get a phone call from a tech, that offered to help, but with no warning of the call, I was not at home, and couldn't get the help while I was in front of the unit. The manager (Nicole) was rude, and kept talking over me. I asked her why she never called me back after the Customer Service rep said that she would. Her lie was, that she was sick for a couple days and that the Customer Service reps work from home. If they work from home, how did they catch you in the hallway to get a unit mailed to me? Finally I raised my voice and told her to stop talking over me and to listen. I told her the unit didn't work. and I'd like a refund. She didn't even entertain the idea, her solution was to do a zoom call so a tech could verify that the unit didn't work. I'm not saying that unit didn't work when it shipped out, I'm saying that the unit doesn't work now. I did trouble shoot the unit with the link provided by the company, still nothing. Questioning ones Integrity does sit good with me. The unit was missing parts, It did not come with the foam insert, and it is supposed to come with lights. The lights are missing as well. Where is the quality control? If you watched the video I sent, you will see that there are no lights in the unit! If the unit was tested at the shop, why are so many parts missing? So I asked why no one was held accountable for not calling back, products that don't work, and missing parts to the unit. She got mad and hung the phone up on me, thus laving me holding a broken unit. I would strongly discourage anyone from getting any product from Tactical Traps, they are a fraud company and DO NOT lookout for there customers.

Your shelf was successfully mounted and operating. If it hadn’t been functioning when you received it, it wouldn’t have opened in the first place. The issue shown in your video is a simple alignment adjustment that takes only a few seconds. That’s exactly why we use an adjustable hinge system — walls are rarely perfectly square, and the hinge allows for quick fine-tuning after mounting.
Our technician offered to walk you through the adjustment over Zoom because it’s typically a three-second fix. You declined that assistance and instead requested a refund.
Per our policy, once a shelf has been mounted, it is no longer eligible for return. We cannot resell a mounted unit. That said, we’ve made multiple attempts to help resolve this quickly and professionally.
This is not a product defect — it’s a mounting adjustment, and we have a simple solution. We’re still willing to help you correct it. But characterizing this as a product failure isn’t accurate.
If you’re open to it, we’re ready to assist and get this resolved immediately.

I have had my pistol shelf for six years. I recently stopped replacing batteries as recommended by Tactical Traps (my bad). Their support helped me to regain entry into the shelf to replace the batteries and get my shelf working again. They were very quick to respond to an email and provided great telephone support. Great quality product and awesome technical support.

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Ordered a gun shelf on Dec 10th for a Christmas present, it’s now Feb 4th. Still haven’t received ANYTHING from them. They said it was lost in shipping. BS, the tracking showed it never left, only a label was created. I’ve had 2 conversations with them over the phone and multiple emails back and forth. On Jan 22nd they said they were processing a refund (at my request) and should receive in 5-7 business days. We’re past that, no refund and no product. Now they’re telling me it’s out for delivery. After we discussed a refund and they emailed a follow up confirmation that I would get my refund. Because we’re so far past Christmas I had to purchase another gift and don’t want the gun shelf now. Do yourself a favor and don’t make a purchase cus you might end up like me - out $316. Bad business

Got a new wall unit for Christmas

Got a new wall unit for Christmas, the unit must have been older stock and had issues with the lock. Tch support was no help at all, after several calls and emails she said it was to old and the lock would need to be replaced for 100, they do not have stock of locks.
I would never buy a product from them again. They always make excuses and reply back to these reviews to save their asses. but it would be better to just make it right with a new customer.
You have been told!
If you have problems with the New lock, make sure you search on line for a replacement it was 13.99 not 100. and the other vendors unit works like it should. stay clear of these bozos.!!!

They say they offered a 50.00 credit but I was never offered that. This company is shady stay clear if possible. ( I fixed the unit with amazon parts for 13.00)

Problems with shelves and customer service

We purchased 3 of the shelves. We were able to get them mounted and they worked fine for a while. The first issue we had with one shelf was that it would not close. We were unable to get a resolution from the company so we ended up using a screw to shut the shelf. This one is now just a shelf. More recently we had a second shelf fail to open. We used the battery operated opener to try to open the shelf and it would not open. Unfortunately, we have two guns in this shelf that we not cannot get to.

I did send an email and was sent a PDF on how to open the shelf, even though I told them I had tried those options already. My next option was to set up a call with a technician. I was given a link to set up a call and I chose an available date and time. I joined the Zoom link 2 minutes before the call started and after waiting for 10 minutes with no one from Tactical Traps joining, I left the Zoom meeting. I have sent a second email to Tactical Traps asking for more assistance. Due to today being a holiday, I have not heard back from them.

We have one more shelf that is still operational. I love the idea of these shelves, but I caution anyone buying these about the issues I have stated in this review. Again, right now, we have one shelf that has two guns in it that we can't get to, which is the exact opposite of what these shelves are supposed to do.

The Tactical Trap folks were absolutely…

The Tactical Trap folks were absolutely spectacular....
first, we had huge shipping issues, even though it was all on the carrier, Tactical traps made up for it and was the true definition of taking care of a customer. I could not be more pleased.
On the product itself, it is perfect in function as well as looks. Mounted it, set new batteries, and cut foam for fitment. Wife is happy with the looks as well. From this experience, I will be purchasing more from Tactical Traps.

I received my American flag safe today…

I received my American flag safe today and it is amazing!! I purchased it for myself for my birthday and Christmas gift all in one,, The craftsmanship is outstanding and I’m super excited to get it on the wall, thank you tactical traps for being right on target answering emails and questions in a very quick manner.

Arms Hide in Plain Sight

These guys are great. I’ve bought the long shelves, short shelves, clocks, mirrors — all work right and well. All are well made and high quality and the locks are solid (and easy). I think the value is definitely there.

Frustrating beyond belief

No instructions. No mounting parts. Couldn't get it open. Their website had the worst instructions I ever saw, and they didn't include any of the parts needed with the thing. While it looked incredible -- I was so frustrated by everything I finally tossed it in the trash. Yeah -- over a hundred bucks worth of trash. It was that bad. They should have a metal mounting bracket with each unit so mounting to a wall would be easy. Again -- they don't. The whole thing was just frustrating.

Eats batteries

Ordered a shelf in 2019. The shelf fit and finish is great. Got the LED motion light and 3 cards. Everything is fine in that respect. My issue is the release mechanism for the trap. It eats batteries like crazy. If left idle they last about 3 months. If used it will open 3-4 times and batteries are toast. Im using Duracell so not because cheap batteries. 4 AAA every 3 months is a bit excessive. I have the backup but, in an emergency who has time. At $9 a 4 pack it really isn't worth it. Paying $40 a year to keep this thing operating is crazy. I don't know if they all do this but, mine does. I would think knowing the Rifd reader is always in a ready mode using power they could put a pass through outlet that runs the reader as well as keeping concealment. You could put a plug in lamp or cell charger on shelf and send the unit power down to the wall, also having a battery backup, and no one would suspect the wire. If the reader didn't eat batteries this would be a 5 star product.
