System 76's selection of hardware is 'right-on' and exceeds expectations. Kudos for that! Everything works as expected. Since I am a long-time Linux user (This is my 5th Sys76 purchase) I was not agha... See more

The laptop fails every time it goes to suspend. Power failing a brand new laptop is the only way to recover. A quick google search reveals this has been a known issue for about a year. I guess quality control is out of the question. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

Great laptop ups shipping sucked you lost a star.
Note, it would be nice to have a charger that uses the 12v port vs USB

Great customer service and tech support. Couldn't be happier.

Here's the updated version:
So Microsoft decided they needed permission to spy on every keystroke across all my screens to use Windows 11. That was the final straw for me - time to switch to Linux. I did what I usually do now and asked my AI which Linux computer to get. Actually, I asked three different AIs, and they all came back with the same answer: System 76.
I was planning to just order one of their pre-configured systems with some upgrades, but the company emailed me back and said I'd be better off with a custom configuration - and save money doing it. So that's what I did.
This computer is an absolute beast. I loaded it up with tons of memory, the fastest chip I could get, two SSD drives and a regular drive for a total of 12 TB of storage. The whole thing came to about $3,000. When I compared it to Windows computers with similar specs - Ryzen 9, 64GB RAM - those were running around $6,000.
The unit itself is attractive, very well built, fairly compact, completely quiet, and crazy fast. Oh, and half the price of comparable Windows machines. Their phone support has been great too. I'm very pleased with this system.

System76 laptops rock for Linux fans-seamless Pop!_OS integration, solid Intel builds, and durable designs. Darter Pro model’s a beast, but battery life’s meh. Great support too. 9/10!

I bought this PC for data science experiments and it has not disappointed. The hardware is great and nicely put together in a well built tower. I was able to fine tune a model with a small dataset in a reasonable amount of time (2 hrs). The only small concern I have is a sound from the fan when I startup the pc, however afterwards it works smoothly. May be a thing to look into. Another big thing for me is to use a 48 inch monitor which has never worked with any Linux system except PopOS. This is exceptional in my opinion. Finally, the support was very good. I had some questions when I was purchasing, I called and they answered in detail.
Edit: The response below demonstrates even better support for me and that is so important. Besides offering great hardware and software for my needs as a data scientist, standing behind the product is something rare.

The laptop met my expectations, and I really enjoyed using Pop!_OS. I tested its performance with Monte Carlo simulations, machine learning, and deep learning calculations, and the system performed well in all the tests

The Oryx laptop is an incredibly nice piece of hardware. Great specs, looks nice, but could use a couple more USB ports.
The Cosmic desktop is not-so-nice. I didn't realize the Oryx would ship with Cosmic Beta instead of the mature and fully tested Original PoP!_OS. Cosmic seemed fine at first, but running the GUI updater tool broke it irreparably after less than 2 hours of cursory usage.
Faced with a reinstall, I decided to pick a different distro since Cosmic still isn't ready to come out of the oven.
Paying a premium price for premium hardware and a Linux experience that just works is fine if you get both of those things. Right now, the Oryx is premium hardware with a premium price and a buggy Beta Linux experience that will definitely damage System76's reputation as Windows 10 refugees flee to Linux distros that claim to be "Windows-like" and "just work," but still need a lot more testing and polish.
System76 tech support is very nice to communicate with and have been helpful, but helpful support only goes so far when the end user is paying to be a Beta tester.

Lemur, basic configuration. Very capable for its around-the-house purpose. The apparent build quality on the machine is great. The learning curve for Pop!_OS is basically zero, coming from Ubuntu. Zero complaints at this time.

The result was a repaired laptop that is again functioning. There was a request for an assessment that was a dependency to proceed with the repair. The first assessment led to the repair decision. A second assessment was delivered, and new repairs were needed. Fortunately, the new repairs didn't exceed the economical threshold to proceed, but there was money already sunk into the effort that would have been otherwise lost, if that was the case.

Thanks for being there for us, and providing new speakers. For sure that made a world of difference and told us the factory ones were defective as the volume is now more normal for a laptop.
Thanks again, Randy

System 76 has first-rate customer support. I've bought my computers from them since 2009. Periodically, a glitch arises. Their customer service folks always help me solve it. This company stands behind its products and cares about its customers.

I absolutely love my new desktop computer and System76 tech support is awesome, too. I had trouble with the Nvidia card being buggy from the start. I blame Nvidia, not System76. At first I thought the problem was my new monitor that arrived the same day, because it would go blank for no reason. When I attached my old monitor, it went blank too, so I realized it was the GPU. Tech support gave me a fix, but later an Nvidia driver update introduced another bug that would shut off my programs without saving them during Suspend mode! There were other bugs, too. Online I found out that Nvidia is lousy with their drivers and driver updates so I asked tech support if I could replace the Nvidia for an AMD. System76 agreed, even though it was more than a month after my purchase date! Tech support even gave me advice on the different graphics card choices based on my input and needs. They spent a lot of time giving me email help (and even phone help), giving me helpful PDF manuals, letting me know what script to put in a terminal, etc. Most companies don't do any of that. With all their help and exchange, I am so happy with my new computer! I should also mention that System76 computers are really well built. I don't think I ever experienced a company that is as good as System76! I don't write reviews, but this company really deserved one.
