I’ve long been critical of Apple for its marketing strategy, which often prioritizes perception over substance. Unfortunately, my recent experience hasn’t improved that view—if anything, it’s reinforced it at the product level. Yes, this is a legacy device, and I understand that it’s no longer supported by design. But that design choice is precisely the issue. Apple’s approach to compatibility and lifecycle management feels less like thoughtful engineering and more like a calculated effort to accelerate obsolescence. Devices that are still perfectly functional are effectively sidelined, not because they’ve failed, but because they’ve been deliberately excluded. There’s a difference between innovation and forced turnover, and Apple seems increasingly comfortable blurring that line. For a company that positions itself as customer-centric, this strategy feels difficult to justify.
