Don't waste your money

I took travel insurance in April 2023 and my tour operator cancelled original trip and booked us for next trip with different dates. I have tried to change my trip dates on Citybond Suretravel website online but it doesn't work. I have emailed them thrice and always get auto response they will get back to us in 48 hours as they are busy. But from 5th July till now they are not able to even email me back. I am appalled in today's time when we are all struggling with money issues this company is happy to take money but not help customers. Pathetic service!

Items now excluded since making a claim.

Some two years ago departing from a caribbean holiday, our suitcases were left in the hotel lobby for around three hours. During that time my suitcase was broken into and two items were taken.
The suitcase had two wide belts to protect and identify it. Because of these belts it wasn't until arriving home that I discovered after removing the belts that the combination lock had been broken and forced.
Checking the suitcase contents I discovered my scuba diving regulators and diving computer had been stolen.
Then began the tortuous claims procedure.
Thankfully I had reported the theft immediately to the insurance broker who sold me the policy.
CityBond at first stated the claim was invalid because I had not reported the theft to the holiday rep. and the local police, and because I had not discovered the theft until returning home did not seem to count.
My claim included copies of the original receipts for the stolen items, however they were insistent that because the theft was not reported at the time of the theft the claim was invalid.
My local insurance broker took control and eventually got CityBond, albeit begrudgingly, to pay the claim less of course the £65 excess fee.
The policy is now due again for renewal, thankfully I read through the exclusions small print and guess what has now just been added to the list of excluded items? SCUBA diving equipment.
This last year both diving holidays to Jamaica and the Red Sea were canceled so the £300+ premium was not even used, and I had no idea then that they had since written in that scuba gear was excluded.
SCUBA divers beware, your equipment will no longer be covered.
I will not be renewing this policy.

Not fit for purpose - avoid like the plague!

Getting mown down by a car, driving on wrong side of the road, whilst on a week-long organised cycling trip in Sardinia, which then ran over my bike – seemed almost pleasant compared to dealing with CityBondTravelSure (CBTS) and their claim handlers.
So day two of a week long holiday I’m hospitalised, and my two week old £3.5k bike is destroyed. The Fiat 500 that drove into me has big dents in the bonnet and the windscreen smashed in.
I say to CBTS:
Can you repatriate me? No
Can I claim for my lost holiday? No you stayed in Sardina!
Can I claim any costs for staying on in Sardina after the smash? Some –not much
Can I claim for my bike? No
The list goes on. Think the lowest point was one of their advisors saying “……if you read the T&C……yes I know this seems unfair……I know how you feel…….”
I’m now trying to recover losses and damages via a solicitor. Today I find out that the legal cover in my ‘Premium’ CBTS policy is so minimalist that I’ll have to hand over 25% to the solicitor. That’s if I see any settlement as due to Brexit and impeding loss of our links to regulatory frameworks – may claim may well vanish into the ether.

0/10 Awful !!!

Absolutely awful company, happy to take your money not so keen to pay when you make a claim, I even paid a premium for better cover.
Five of us were travelling to see the Italy V England RUGBY game in Rome, Italy went into lockdown so we were unable to travel, we all had our own independent insurance, out of the five of us three have been paid by there insurance companies who have excepted the trip was cancelled by the Italian government.
I personally have had nothing but difficulty, delaying tactics and belligerence from day one and it continues still.
I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!
