Cool idea but let down by long term unreliability
Tried to turn the water off yesterday morning and the remote switch on my Surestop wouldn't work. These units were all the rage some years back (I fitted mine around six years ago) and I still think the basic idea is a good one - but it just isn't defendable for customers to be hitting these sorts of unreliability issues on something that is *supposed* to make it easy to shut the water down in an emergency. I've just spent several hours removing mine completely as I don't trust it now having read other peoples experiences and reflected on mine - and in it's place is a quarter turn full bore Pegler lever valve. That's still pretty easy to turn off.
I don’t usually gush over service
I don’t usually gush over service, I don’t usually leave reviews either but I have to commend this company for its customer service.
I had a fault in my sure stop. It has been installed for a fair while. The remote switch started to leak when switched off. Real nuisance!
I contacted sales with a picture of the offending item. Victoria Barlow answered my query to my complete satisfaction by sending a replacement that arrived next day. Now all fitted and fully functional.
Thanks so much I really appreciate your customer support.
Best wishes
Geoffrey

Very disappointed switch will not switch supply off Its about 10-12 years old but when needs it fails to do what it’s supposed to do and that is to cut the supply when needed

Leaking shutoff switch.
Second property I've been too that had surestop fitted and both leaked from the switch plate when turned off.
Can't buy just the switch.
When I phoned surestop I was informed that the switches aren't available separately and I would have to purchase a full kit to get a replacement.

Brilliant customer service
Our existing Surestop developed a fault which Surestop said couldn't be fixed which was disappointing as it was only 2 years old. An email to them and they offered to replace the entire unit which arrived the next day. Brilliant customer service.

We had a problem with an old Surestop that was not shutting off the supply. I contacted customer services for advice and Victoria offered to send a replacement unit free of charge which was received the next day. Excellent customer service, couldn't ask for better!

I had a problem with an old installation which sprung a leak from the small pipes adjacent to the switch. A telephone call to sales (Victoria) produced a delivery of a new length of pipe by first class post. very quick. hank you.

Excellent service and product
I called Surestop today for some brochures for my customers and wanted to let you know how helpful the lady and gent I spoke to were. Thanks guys!!!!
I loved fitting surestops when I worked for Dyno. I have now started my own company and recommend them for everyone, not just the elderly.
The surestop even saved our house a few year ago when a pipe burst upstairs and water was coming through the ceiling.

Saved my home
I work as an OT and recommend surestops all the time. I had one fitted in my own home about 3 years ago and yesterday it saved my house!!!! We could hear water running, went into the hall and water had started to come through the ceiling. Switched off the surestop and all water stopped!!!! We caught it just in time. I am so grateful.
Please note to this day no idea where my original stopcock is.

Useless
The front of the switch fell away from the base and water started to come out of the switch mechanism Cheap inside parts. Had to find the proper stopcock to stop the water damage and now looking for a plumber to get rid of the unit. Don't get one you could regret it after a few years.

Our SureStop worked ten months before seizing!
We had a SureStop fitted last April, 2022 when the kitchen was refurbished. The original brass stopcock had become very tight over its 43 years. No problems until this week when we found the mains water pressure started fluctuating irregularly. Then yesterday, the pressure disappeared altogether. At the moment, the kitchen restorers are now removing the device completely as the valve unit was fitted behind the cupboard below the sink. The manufacturer only warrants the device for two years.

Do you really need one ?
I’ve noticed my laminated flooring had started to bow near my kitchen sink( I know laminate right never again)
After investigating it was coming from the sure stop shut off valve but not the inlet and outlet that was dryer then Bin Laden old flip flops…after trying to find out where the water was coming from I noticed the tiniest get off water spraying away from in side the shut off valve great I thought on Christmas Eve 🙄 not sure why my plumber thought it was a good idea exactly as directly under the it was the water mains stopcock what was easy for me to turn off. So on this Christmas Eve I’ve got the job off fixing it instead of watching die hard. I can’t see the point off having one if you can easily get to your mains stopcock and capable off turning it off
So I’m going to take my chances and take it out
(It’s only 2 years old as well)
and the money I save off buying a rather expensive surestop will go towards the flooring, kitchen plinth & end panels I’ve got to replace because off it.
Merry Christmas ho ho ho sorry no no no

I work for a large housing association and despite pleading with our surveyor not to fit them when installing new kitchens. They're failing all over our estates lasting about two years and the cost is ridiculous

They are overjoyed with it as they say " Given them complete piece of mind"
They love the fact that they can turn their water off by a flick of a switch!

I had a Surestop installed in my mums when new kitchen was being fitted. It’s a great product, now she can turn water off easily without worrying about how to get washing machine out. I would give 10 out of 10 if I could, every home should have one.

Poor water pressure
We have just had these fitted with our knee kitchen. Since they’ve been fitted we have lost water pressure. Very dissatisfied
