At Sun Life, I was oriented about what insurance is all about and how it can benefit my family in the future. My financial advisor, Renen Farquirabao, is very approachable and always up to date in giving me important updates and guiding me through the step-by-step process. He assisted me very well throughout the entire transaction.
My experience at Sun Life Philippines was very informative and meaningful. It has been a year since I’ve attempted to withdraw from sunlife.
I’ve done everything they have asked me to do.
( signed all paperwork by going to the Philippine consulate and having all papers notarized in 2 different occasions, sent allll the info asked, I even had a relative hand deliver some of the paperwork that was notarized. Plus, they asked me to take a pic with the page motorized with my signature.)
I did everything asked by the agent.
Nope! 1 year later and I’m still waiting. Though I’m in America, it should not take a year for me to get my money and cancel my policy.
Will I ever recommend this company … NO
It hurts even more because the agent is a relative :(

Made payment on Feb 25 but my application got approved on May 12. I followed up countless times. If I did not inform them that I will withdraw my application and will ask for a refund, they won't action it. Ops department are lazy to follow up. Imagine if something bad (knock on woods) happened to the policy owner within the timeframe. You should hire better people and implement better processes. You just proved your incompetence. I would have given 0 star if it is an option, or probably a negative number. Service is very disappointing.

The company provides good training and support, especially for new advisors, and offers products with both protection and living benefits, which are very relevant to clients’ needs.
One challenge is the sales-driven environment, which can be tough at times, but overall, Sun Life does well in developing its people and providing meaningful financial solutions.

I like sunlife . It is one of the best life insurance in the philippines.
Surrender process took MONTHS
I wanted to cancel my Maxilink prime to get my remaining funds but FA isn't responding. I submitted all of the requirements, and affidavit but they keep on pushing other requirements. What initially should be from sept. 2025 lasted to April 2026. The amount dropped by the time I got it.
From there on, I don't trusst them with my money and tell everyone I know not to take their insurance.

Getting insurance with Sun Life has… been hard.
Getting insurance with Sun Life has been an overall extremely difficult experience. The process however was made much easier thanks to Miss Brenda Lee Labastida.

Disappointed with your policy surrender process
I’m honestly disappointed with my experience processing a policy surrender with Sun Life Philippines. The requirements are very inconvenient for customers.
I misplaced both my policy contract and my husband’s, and they require a notarized Declaration of Loss just to proceed with the surrender. I understand the need for documentation, but the process feels unnecessarily complicated for customers who are simply trying to withdraw their own money.
I already submitted clear photos of the completed forms, including the notarized Declaration of Loss. I even sent live photos of the documents, but the financial advisor still required me to send scanned copies specifically through the CamScanner app. This feels excessive and inconvenient.
I also work in the insurance industry, and in many cases clear photos of signed documents are already acceptable as long as the information is visible and complete. Requiring customers to scan through a specific app just adds another unnecessary step.
I hope Sun Life Philippines can review and simplify their surrender process to make it more customer-friendly. Policyholders should not feel like it’s this difficult to access their own funds.
