studentuniverse canceled my flights and didn't tell me. I checked with the airlline and they had no record of my trip. When I called studentuniverse they said that the price had gone up. Rather than tell me this, they just canceled my trip. I have a confirmation at our agreed upon price with a StudentUniverse reservation code and an airline reservation code. They told me they could rebook me at a higher price. And then they told me that they could not rebook me on my dates. They still haven't refunded my money. I feel sorry for the "customer service" person, but she said that there was nobody there that could help me and she suggested that I try to rebook on my own.

When it's good, it's absolutely OK. And I mean ok as in just ok. You can definitely find a cheap flight, but not any cheaper than any other flight search engine. When it's bad, it's probably the worst travel agency you can deal with. Expect to receive no notification when your flights are canceled. And don't expect the agents you contact to be able to help. (This is not their fault, they are lovely and the company policies are to blame.) Honestly never want to flip a table as much as I have dealing with this company.

I would give zero stars if I could. I had a booking confirmation from them, and they cancelled the reservation without telling me. We showed up to the airport with the confirmed tickets, but they had cancelled them. Avoid this company at all costs.
Horrific
Horrific. The company booked me and my boyfriend as 2 youth tickets, we are over the age of 25 so we were unable to board the flight. We had to buy 2 new one way tickets at the counter for $3,236 EUR the morning of the flight. The company would only reimburse me the original flight cost which was only roughly $900.
I requested them to pay the difference and they refuse - even though they messed up my booking. Absolute joke of a company.
Robbed
I bought two flights, round trips and paid for baggage. I had to change one flight before 24 hrs and they didn't transfer the baggage purchase. I was robbed, only way to say it. There is no way to justify they couldn't do the transfer because I called the airline and they told me if Student Universe called their Support it could be done. So that means IT CAN BE DONE and THEY DON'T WANT TO. They made easy money with me... $112. I had to go directly to the airline and buy for baggage AGAIN!! If I could give them less than an F!!!!

Everything has been smooth so far. I recently purchased United Airlines tickets for a round trip from Los Angeles to Milan. After adding the itinerary to my United Account, I double-checked everything—it’s all in order. In my view, the folks who’ve had a tough time are probably the ones whose flights got canceled or needed rebooking. When you book through a third-party website (whether it’s for car rentals, hotels, or airlines), handling changes or cancellations can be more challenging. For a hassle-free experience, my recommendation is to book directly with the specific company you’re planning to use. However, if you’re looking to save some cash and don’t anticipate any changes or cancellations, going with a third-party website can score you significant discounts. Remember to compare prices; sometimes, third-party platforms offer better deals.
Unbelievably great
I had booked a flight through them after being skeptical for weeks, and checked a few days later to see that the prices dropped substantially on a MUCH better flight. Called them up and within 15 minutes they had changed my itinerary to the cheaper flight and refunded me the difference. Quite literally 1/4 of the price of booking through the airline directly. Insane.
Very bad customer service
Very bad customer service. My advice is to book directly from the airline, at least you get decent customer service. Very disappointing for them to claim being a student focused company. Never again.
Edit: sir/madam, please read the hundreds of other reviews: your customer service is very bad and unfriendly. The issue I'm describing was immediately resolved by the airline itself. Turns out, there was an easy solution. Good luck with improving your company.

Flight Change
I called three times to try to change my flights after gathering some information with Luke, who provided amazing customer service and genuinely tried to help me. When I called back to the call center after talking to the the airline company, I asked for Luke, he wasn’t available, so I had to speak with someone else who wasn't very helpful in finding the cheapest fare to change my flights. However, on my third call, I spoke to Kyle, who was as good as Luke and actually put effort into helping me. He did a great job! Thank you, guys, for understanding and being empathetic to my situation, and for going above and beyond to assist your customers. That’s the level of treatment all customers should receive when reaching out to a customer service center.
Gap Year Trip to Australia
My daughter and I booked her flight from London to Australia during her gap year (2023-2024). Unfortunately, the airline changed part of her trip back to the UK, which meant she would miss her connection. I called Student Universe, I was answered quickly by a gentleman called Nick.
Nick was super helpful, courteous, patient and articulate. He came across as an expert in his field and was fast and efficient in accommodating my daughters wishes for her trip back home.
I will definitely use Student Universe in the future, as this experience tells me they are ready to assist their customers when and wherever they need help. Definitely worth the 5 stars!
Unwilling to rebook despite agreeable airline and customer
We thought this site was great, love student pricing and all. BUT when a problem comes up, it is clear that you are on your own and this company will not resolve it or is only going to resolve it for a list of fees - cute trick. The issue that occurred at the airport that caused the missed flight was resolved over the phone with the airline and they gave a green light to rebook at no cost (thank you KLM, you’re the best), but the third party agency needed to call in, seems like a simple step… That was 9 hours ago. Divanni, who is 18 years old, was stranded for 11 hours in the airport waiting for 'an email' that has still never came, though updates were promised. There were two flights today that he could have been rebooked on. NO COMMUNICATION FROM SU. this is shockingly bad customer service, because flight cancellations and changes are obviously urgent situations, and airlines typically resolve it as quickly as possible. student universe seems perfectly fine with stranding students, young adults, in precarious situations and trying to get more fees out of a desparate situation. We called at least five times because there were no emails or return calls. Called again this evening, and immediately after we see that the reservation has been deactivated and cannot be opened. Interesting. We are keeping documentation of all of this, and will work with KLM to report this to consumer protection authorities. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!! THEY WILL ABANDON YOU WHEN ANYTHING GOES WRONG EVEN IF IT IS EASILY REPAIRABLE.

I will NEVER EVER use this site again. I accidentally booked the wrong date two days ago, and reached out right afterwards to ask for help in rebooking.I was told that I should wait three hours until the ticket was issued, and then call back. Never mind that this would be at one a.m. I was told that this was the only way to go. I have been stuck in phone hell ever since. They keep on telling me that they are waiting for approval from the airline to process my request. I got one email saying that they tried calling me, but I didn’t answer. Well no wonder- that was at four a.m.!!!! I have received no confirmation, no tickets, just emails after each call to customer service telling me that they registered my call. I am going to cancel the credit card charge and lodge a complaint with the NYS Consumer Protection Board. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!!

One of the worst companies iv had to deal with.
My partner is disabled and I requested assistance which they said they had spoken to the airline and had requested this. Apon arrival at the airport it was clear this hadn’t been done.
We also paid extra for special meals which we never got because the airline knew nothing about it. Resulting in us not eating for 2-3 days. We still have a flight back to the uk in a weeks time which I am hoping might be better.
I definitely will not be using student universe again.

Beware you will never get the seats you paid for
1)The whole basis for this company’s existence is to give its student client base better deals on travel. This is the first failing point. Prices are no better if not dearer than on other simpler to use sites / airlines direct.
2) the whole booking experience is very convoluted and awkward requiring photos of passports and credit cards and authorisations if you as a parent want to purchase a ticket for your children.
3) The cherry on the cake comes when you try to get an answer from them afte 3 months and on the eve of your flight chasing the print out of the seats you have paid for 3 months earlier, just to be told that they are sorry and that they will refund you the cost of your purchased seats!!! This only because I wrote to them chasing this issue up; had I not? …. I don’t know!
Never will I avail myself of this company’s services again! Terrible!
