I had been buying games true Steam for 10 years. Never ran into blockers where I would need the sellers (Steam's) support. Until a week ago. I ran into a large scale scam, fraud, called Ashes of Creat... See more

They will not refund your money if you contact them directly, you will need to chargeback with your bank by calling them and telling them which purchase on your card to refund. I refunded my game by reporting the game keeps crashing.
Zero care for customers
Zero care for customers. Got sold a buggy game. Took 3 hours to try to trouble shoot connectivity. Refused a refund. Apart from being ripped off, the worst thing was the 'talk to the hand' responses from the company. Try buying through Epic Games or GOG instead. Anything except Steam. An average of 1.8 stars in customer satisfaction says it all.
I Cannot Trust Steam Anymore
I cannot trust Steam anymore i got sixth community ban for asking about pricing items on Community Market while user trying to scam me and shark to buy a not real price. I think this Company Supports Scammers and didn't do any actions to stop, also i lost over ~380 USD and ~632 USD and this money never be return all my computer life now in a Hell.

I wish I would have come here first
I wish I would have come here first. Be warned. Do not. I repeat. Do not buy a valve index. The hardware is absolute garbage. The first one they sent me had scuffed lenses. So I started a return process. The first month of my owning a steam vr, I spent 20 days waiting on steams AWFUL customer service ticket system, and their ridiculously slow RMA process. They sent me a second HMD and this one flickers. The screen loses power off and on. So I yet again, send my complaint to steam and wait 12 hours on their response. This is steam's only offered customer service. There is no phone option, no live chat option. You send them a message, and they reply to you 12-24 hours later to ask a question. You answer that question, and they eventually get back to you 12-24 hours later. I'm now having to send my second headset back and wait another 20 days for them to send a third one. I received the first one on April 4th 2025. Today is May 10th 2025, and I'm working on my third headset now. They refuse to refund it. Steam does not care about its customers, or their satisfaction. Be warned. Do NOT buy a steam deck, or a vr system or you will be sorry.
I have nothing to show for the 800 dollars I spent except an empty place on my desk where a vr headset should be sitting, and an empty wallet.
I tried more than an hour
I tried more than an hour, trying to create an account on steam, trying different methods, methods like creating a new account, reestablishing my password, putting in codes that were sent to my email. Nothing of them worked. Steam just sucks.
One of the worst gaming platform/Don't waste money on it!
One of the worst gaming platform you can play on!
I had an account that I used for a long time but one day when I wanted to enter the password it was saying incorrect then tried the phone number I had in steam but error then went for steam support they asked everything I gave them like card details and everything I had bought many games there then they wanted the original email on which the account was made like seriously? I made this account like years ago and i had lost the email as well but i gave you the my card details and phone number with address what else do you need even the emails I used but they say they can't help then made another account and then bought a game but day 2 and and I can't login because its showing error again and again!
absolutely awful
absolutely awful. Taken money twice so for one time purchase then i take the money back via paypal as they wont give refunds. They then take the one time purchase back and block my account. Then they have a different person each day responding to my emails and they just keep saying different things but wont return the items
Lost $750 on Steam — Support won’t help at all
I’ve been a loyal Steam user for many years. I invested a lot of time, real money, and dedication into my account, always respecting the rules and keeping everything secure.
Recently, I lost around $750 worth of in-game items — and despite doing absolutely nothing wrong (no account sharing, no phishing, no suspicious trades), Steam Support just responded with cold, automated messages.
They said:
“Steam does not restore items under any circumstances.”
“You will not receive further replies.”
No investigation. No empathy. No attempt to understand or help. I was treated like just another number. It’s shocking that a platform this big refuses to take care of its loyal users.
I’m not asking for favors — just a fair and human review of my case.
If you use Steam, think twice before investing too much… because if something goes wrong, you’ll be on your own.

Steam has a huge game library and great sales, but customer support can be slow.
Steam Password unable to reset, request lodged but no response from Steam support
I lodged a complaint in the morning to get my steam account password reset. There was an outage @ steam servers which impacted my account. Let me know to I reset my password as I can't do this on my end. Error : You have exceeded the number of allowed recovery attempts. Please try again later or try a different recovery method. The servers were down and login/password reset failed will errors. Now it says I cant reset??!!

Title: Steam Refuses Refund for Unplayable Just Cause 4 - Unacceptable!
I purchased Just Cause 4 from Steam, only to be met with nothing but issues. The game has been unplayable from the start, freezing constantly despite my best efforts to troubleshoot with the Steam support team and follow all of Square Enix’s recommendations. Even after reaching out to Square Enix, I was told to perform multiple fixes, including adjusting my graphics settings, reinstalling the game, and updating drivers. None of these worked.
I followed every step, and after 13 hours of wasted time, the game still refuses to run properly. When I requested a refund through Steam, I was denied despite the game being broken and unplayable. The support team cited the 2-hour playtime limit, which is absurd given that the issue only became apparent after playing longer. How am I supposed to know a game is defective after just 2 hours? Steam’s policy is unreasonable, and it doesn’t account for games that are unplayable due to technical issues discovered after initial use.
I paid for a product that doesn’t work, and Steam’s refusal to offer a refund is completely unacceptable. I will not be using their platform for purchases in the future and will be exploring my options to dispute the charge through other means. I strongly advise against purchasing from Steam if you expect any sort of fair customer service or protection as a consumer.
update:
Steam’s refund policy is broken. I recently purchased Just Cause 4 Complete Edition and encountered major technical issues that made the game unplayable. Despite contacting Steam Support multiple times and providing evidence, they refused to issue a refund because I had slightly over 2 hours of playtime—completely ignoring the fact that the game was defective.
It was only after I escalated my case to UK consumer protection agencies, the CMA, UKICC, and Citizens Advice, and publicly exposed their unfair treatment that they suddenly changed their stance and offered me a refund. If I had not fought back, I would have been left with a broken product and no recourse.
Steam’s refund policy is deeply flawed:
It does not consider cases where a game is unplayable due to technical failures.
It forces consumers to fight through layers of bureaucracy to get what they are legally entitled to.
It is rigid and unfair, only bending when public exposure or legal action is threatened.
Why should consumers have to go to extreme lengths to receive fair treatment? How many others have been silenced or ignored because they didn't know how to escalate their cases? I refuse to let this slide. Steam needs to revise its refund policy to align with fair consumer protection laws.
If you are in a similar situation, don’t give up. Keep pushing back, escalate your case, and expose them publicly. Steam only listens when they’re afraid of real consequences.

I just want to change my phone number
I just want to change my phone number, but they ask about CD key, Mr. Cash, old account.
I have no idea what they are talking about, what is Mr. Cash? There is no CD key in my email. I evened just bought a game like they said to get the CD key, but not.
Waste of my time.
I've been using Steam for years
I've been using Steam for years, and it continues to impress me as the best digital gaming platform out there.
Best online game store
Best online game store, i dont like the licensing part, but the refund policy is great and the compatibility too.
If you play a game less than 2 hours or have it for less than 14 days, usually you can refund (not always), i ended up buying games on steam instead of others because modding compatiblity and other things, like multiplayer are better
Awful experience
Steam support customer service has been truly awful. Everytime I reach out to them after trying to make a purchase they tell me to provide all account details of the credit card used and momentarily shut down my account because they’re system suspects fraudulently activity because I used so many credit cards. That’s where the snake bites its tail because the only reason I had to ask half my family to give me their credit card information is because they wouldn’t accept my credit card in the first place. It’s honestly a joke at this point. So the only thing that customer service has so far been doing is shut down my account and over and over again have me send them my personal details to confirm that I really am me. I have never experienced anything like this before. On top of that there seems to be no phone number to settle this issue. What a mess.
Pathetic Response
Just signed up. Asked for a refund based on game is now unplayable after 3hours (Bug preventing future progress)
Reply was “ Inline with Australian law no refund is offered”
Very unprofessional and support is a joke
