Defective Step. Unacceptable customer service and repeated attempts to charge me extra
I bought the StapStep Pro through Bol.com only over two months ago. From the first use, the electronic brake did not function properly — the motor kept running while braking, which is a serious safety risk, I was unaware and drove with this deffect 240km.
When I reported this, the seller (StapStep Retail BV) immediately blamed “water damage” and tried to avoid warranty by demanding that I pay:
The shipping costs to send the scooter back, inspection costs of ca.50EUR if the problem was not warranty related.
Over €100 in repair and return costs.
Even after that, they admitted they cannot guarantee the scooter will work after repair.
On top of this, their communication was unprofessional. They repeatedly threatened me with costs to discourage my warranty claim, and when I refused to pay, they basically told me to “do with it what you want” and closed my case without a solution.
This shows not only a defective product but also very poor customer service and a pattern of trying to shift costs onto the customer instead of honoring the legal warranty. For a premium-priced scooter, this is unacceptable. I strongly advise against buying from this retailer.
