Service Drop at Stammershalle

This review is focused on the restaurant (as a hotel guest).

We came to Stammershalle in 2014 and we were met with a very positive attitude and high service level with flexibility. What often is present in southern Europe, namely flexibility based service, was also to found at Stammershalle in 2014. For foreign guests, I would like to say that in Denmark in general, the flexibility in restaurants (and hotels) is often not present. Most restaurants and hotels in Denmark use students as the main waiter group instead of the professionals they have in France, Italy and so forth.

However...
Back to Stammershalle in 2018, this service had disappeared or dropped to a level that was disappointing. Back in 2014, we had the possibility to order a small meal to the room one day as an alternative to having dinner in the restaurant, where we had dinner the 3 first days. The restaurant being fully booked, we asked if they could help with a small snack or meal. Here we were wet with a young man’s (main waiter?) negative attitude, “we don’t do room service”. Attitude + missing flexibility.
At breakfast the first day, I gave positive feed back on the breakfast with the only comment, that the boiled eggs were kind of totally liquid, and not soft boiled with liquid yolk. The waiter, with great negative attitude, told me that she always boils them 5 min and that I should go home and practice my egg boiling!!!
Even though having an espresso machine present, the same lady, refused to do a caffelatte, as “she was not trained and literally ran in to the kitchen to avoid the conversation”. In the afternoon the day before an espresso was ordered and delivered, so the machine worked and with a “trained” coffee brewer.

Attitude and lack of flexibility is what I think of words describing the restaurant at Stammershalle. Sometimes it comes down to a person or two who always can be replaced by service minded and “trained” staff.

The hotel reception and the rest of the hotel are very kind and service focused.
