Great sounding library without a lot of baked in reverb/hall sound. Nice selection of articulations and very happy with alto flute and bass clarinet instruments. Easy to download and use in Kontakt player and reasonably priced!

As always, the Spitfire sounds are incredibly beautiful and very realistic.
Without adding any articulations, the instruments have a nice timbre. When you add articulations and dial in velocity they sound even better. The price is nice too.

Disappointed with lower winds, which is what I was mostly interested in. Too much discrepancy between the volume of the same note with different articulations. And as a composer who enters notes one at a time with MIDI, I would love to be able to change the articulation WITHOUT using keyswitches.
This is a very consistent, well recorded and edited collection of instruments and articulations. Not super lyrical but very musical and consistent collection of essentials especially the short notes. X4 alternates for marcato, tenuto, staccato. I have Spitfire Studio strings (pro version) too and its similarly well recorded and edited but is deficient in short bowed notes, it only has spicatto and a short brushed articulation. They can be blended to achieve a pseudo staccato art but its hard to make convincing. Further the marcato (attack) art has no repetitions, is super loud and cant really emulate repeating marcato notes. The Vanilla long articulation is useful to -emulate- tenuto notes, short'ish notes and has an alternate but the layered attack at high velocity -is- the marcato (attack) attack, without an alternation. One can blend the spicatto art and long art to emulate an alternating attack but its time consuming and hit and miss on final results both in assembly and in musical use. Suggestion for spitfire! Inspired by Studio Winds, record additional short bowed notes for spitfire studio strings at similar lengths to Studio Winds X4 (or 5 like BBC) alternates for marcato, tenuto, staccato (staccatissimo) and offer it as an add on perhaps? (kontakt 5 compatible like the original) Or re-release Studio Strings like Symphonic Strings with new -bread and butter- short articulations. I suspect it would make studio strings more appealing to people who always use at least one staccato articulation :-) Strings aside, many thanks for such a good package in Studio Winds.

Perfect library, easy to learn
Having been searching for a woodwinds library that offered flexibility at a good, I'd had my eye on SSW for a while. I prefer my libraries on the drier side rather than with an abundance of baked in roominess and studio woodwinds is great in this respect. The abundance of techniques is fantastic and the instruments (both solo and grouped) sound great, with the subtlety of each well captured. I have mostly been spending my time exploring each instrument and group so far with particular interest in the dynamic layers, all of which seem to scale well and avoid the old 0-60 all or nothing problem. Given how dry the library is it also fits in well with my template. Whilst I have yet to fully tweak for cohesion, it's 95% there out of the box. Even at full price this library comes highly recommended.
The instruments lack relief and dynamics and are "flattened" when listening. It will take me some time to give you a precise opinion but I am not very satisfied for the moment.
Great library discounted twice. Once because it completed my bundle and discounted for the winter sale. Amazing library!
As a clarinet player I am very surprised at how realistic this product sounds in the sessions

Perfect in every way, the patches are fast to load, the sound is beautiful and very expressive, legatos are surprisingly realistic. I have nothing to complain about here!! :)
Very nice sounding product I hope to upgrade to full version some day and possibly have more spitfire libraries as I am just only still learning and taking courses in theory to get better thanks again Spitfire! I like your little tutorials on youtube about orchestration and stuff like that too, thanks.!
I needed a woodwind library that would be simple and versatile while sounding realistic and inspiring. I found just that! The instruments are recorded with a great sound stage and depth of character. They sit in the mix where I need them to, with minimal effort and all of the emotional expressiveness I was expecting.

Delicate with a brilliant balance. Great orchestration and playfully Melodic. Easily one of my favorite woodwind libraries on the market. The glissandi's and falls/rips are great for transitional passages.
This completed my 'Studio' Orchestra. The dry sound of the Studio sets makes them so versatile. There are some quite beautiful sounds in this section. Instant inspiration.
The woodwinds sound beautiful, I think it's my favourite sample pack so far. Incredibly realistic and emotive sound, especially the bassoon <3
