Janky

The program (or at least the mobile app) is very laggy, sometimes it will freeze and then it wouldn't save. The audio is very low quality so it's sometimes hard to understand. Games make activities longer than it should be which is annoying, especially if your trying to get things done quick. If you are a parent with a child that is homeschooling, DO NOT use this. Instead, use a different program. Some of the five star reviews are bots so I wouldn't trust them.

Everything I read is true

Everything I read is true, the original spellingCity helped my kids so much, the new site not so much doesn't even let kids know when they choose the wrong answers. At least you can still use the original for spelling words.

They don't even deserve one star!

During the lockdown my students were able to have fun accessing the Vocabulary Spelling City to play their assigned games as well as practice for their test.

I was surprised that they chose to merge with another company and immediately saw the pitfalls. Unfortunately, my parents had already contributed to paying for the year, so I was stuck. In fact, it was due to end this month,

I tried my best for over two months to try and understand the operations of this new platform, but to no avail.

Disappointment is a complete understatement. Please bring back the old website and app.

VocabularyA-Z, a convoluted, inscrutable mess.

My son used SpellingCity successfully for 5 years. We loved it. It was wonderful. Now, it's been replaced by VocabularyA-Z, a convoluted, inscrutable mess that is totally useless. Have a problem? They have support: 5-7 days for a reply. You can create a lesson, but kids can only use it one time; that's not practice, that's assessment. They can't even figure out how time zones work, so lessons may not appear until the scheduled time in their time zone, not your time zone. There's little doubt in my mind that the site was created by Left coast liberals with no experience with kids at all.

Spelling City was excellent

Spelling City was excellent; A-Z is a nightmare. I will not renew my subscription for the same reasons that every other Spelling City teacher has listed. All complaints are true.

A-Z is the most convoluted

A-Z is the most convoluted, idiotic product to begin with, and instead of simply buying a fully functioning Spelling City and let that be enough, they run it through the same stupid platform they use for their own apps. What is left is a product that is totally worthless. Totally useless. Simply disheartening.

I will never use this company again

The switch to Vocabulary A-Z was a nightmare. One day I sent my students to work on the their spelling and vocabulary on the computer. It was during Covid and all my students were using Spelling City for their Spelling and Vocab work. The students contacted me and said they could not do their work. When I tried to figure out what had happened I discovered an email from the night before the transfer happened about coming to a training about the transfer and then another email saying the transfer had occurred. I went to the training the next day and was told how the transfer process would occur and what I needed to do to prepare. The problem was that it had already occurred for me and my students and I did not have the opportunity to prepare. Because of this, I lost almost all the data on my students progress for the year. Vocabulary A-Z customer service was horrible. I attempted to contact them repeatedly. I finally talked to a customer service rep and was basically told that there was nothing they could do to help me, nor could the refund me my money. I asked them to delete my account and they couldn't even manage to do this. I will never support this company again.

Not What I Paid For

The switch from Spelling City to Vocabulary A-Z has been AWFUL!!! This is not what I paid for when I purchased my subscription to Spelling City. The limited number of words (thankfully changed), the constant need to type in meanings, the inability to see HOW a child misspelled a word, and the overall lack of user friendliness are just a few of the unacceptable differences between the two. I purchased this for SPELLING (thus the name...Spelling City) not VOCABULARY (new name...Vocabulary A-Z).

In addition, when I attended the virtual professional development on the new site, the instructors were not helpful at all, and at times they were downright rude to me when I asked a question. At one point I expressed my frustration over the fact that my some of my lists did not transfer, and their reply was "Oh well".

I will not renew my subscription, and I will be looking for a program that does what I pay for it to do.

Loved Spelling City, hate Vocal A-Z

My students and I loved Spelling City. Over the 8 or so years I have had a premium account, I have created lists for all the topics I teach in ESOL. I loathe Vocab A-Z. It is a complete rip off. It is not user friendly and I have been frustrated with it since day one. I am only still using it because of the number of hours I had spent creating the lists that were transferred from Spelling City. The cost is also unacceptable with all the new restrictions and limitations of the site. I have 41 students but each license is limited to 36 students. If I use another license, I have to have a separate login and then copy all the lists. I hate it with a passion. I will not be renewing our subscription unless it reverts to the Spelling City layout and functionality.

I miss the old Spelling City.

I wish I could give the new Spelling City (Vocab A-Z) a zero but I must give it at least one star. The new platform is not user friendly, I can not access activities and assign them based on needs. The premade activities that are downloadable are not grade appropriate, I have to log in every word manually AND the definitions because I see the "word not found" message all the time. It's ridiculous. I will not be renewing my account. The old Spelling City was easy for teachers and students to use, the kids enjoyed it, I was able to access scores and change assignments with ease, but now....such a shame.

This is Bad, REALY REALY BAD

In this times as a student I stoped using this app because I can't pass nearly all of the games!
And, since I bought it with my money I think it's not fair for us not using it at the 100%.
