The Costs Difference: Personal Use v Commercial Use
I purchased Speechelo recently at $37.
Following this I was presented with the Pro version on a landing page for an extra $197 on 19 March 2023.
There are many negative reviews complaining of subscriptions being charged.
Having researched this further, I found the following information which may be useful for future purchasers of the software.
Speechelo $37 is for personal use only. 30 voices.
This price is for a lifetime one off payment.
No subscription
Speechelo £197 (in addition to the $37) 170 voices.
This price is for a lifetime one off payment.
No subscription.
The Pro version is allows for 'Commercial Use"
Be mindful that there are affiliates out there selling Speechelo who do sell the product as subscriptions.
After reading one of the negative reviews our legal team contacted Speechelo directly for clarity. They have confirmed that there are no subscriptions on the package we purchased.
In terms of UX, the software adds value and isn't as bad as some reviewers are making it out to be.
I will update this review after understanding how out works at a later date.

Speechelo family's misleading scam
Reading other people's reviews and I see there is a common issue among different people. I am just sorry that I did not check the Trustpilot reviews for speechelo.com before I made a purchase.
I was bombarded for months with speechelo ads and decided to check it out. I was trying the Google's AI text to speech software and had good experience.
Yesterday I decided to check the price for this product and there was the "special founders price" BS but it was a fair price for a product I could moderately use. The landing page is completely non transparent, I could not find a single word about the specifics of a product. Nevertheless I decided to pay the 27$ and oh my I was surprised that I was redirected to a new landing page that now explains that the thing I bought was practically useless as I could not make commercial use of it?! Now, speechelo.com has clearly put the differences between the regular and Pro version, the only thing is that I should pay either a subscription for only "37$" or a one-time or lifetime payment of 197$.
For me, this is a misleading scam and it should be punished in some way by the authorities.
The worst thing, as someone mentioned here, is when you realize you must pay more there is an autorun video that says "Welcome to speechelo family", that is sooooooo..... you know.
I am currently so angry with speechelo's scam that I did not try the product at all and will surely ask for a refund as I am sure there are competitors that are transparent and business oriented.
Shame on you speechelo!

Speechelo standard of voices produced is very poor, only thing worse is their support.
The standard of voices produced is very poor, only made worse by the appalling support. The 1 Australian voice I had access to after paying my money was so horrible, it seemed fake and little more than a B grade actor trying to sound Aussie. Jim Carey took the mickey out of an Aussie accent in dumb and Dumber but it was far better than Speechelo. So Speechelo I consider is the dumbest.
I bought this software in good faith on the understanding I had 60 days to use the software and if I decided not to use it any further, I would get a full refund. I contacted the seller (within the 60 day period) in December via email to ask for a refund. The seller made a counter offer which I did not take up. However the seller still has not refunded my payment as per the original offer when I bought it. Note the software is used online only and needs activation. I only tried it once and it proved to be far less than satisfactory. I do not have a copy of the software and will be unable to access the software once they refund my money and remove my access code. I sent an email on March 12 2023 to remind the seller to refund me but they claim that this is now out of the 60 day period, I will not get a refund even though I clearly asked for a refund in December (within the 60 trial period).
Please Note I wrote to them several times in the last day or 2 with no satisfactory reply. Only a patronising reply saying sorry, but we can not refund you. I believe I gave them every opportunity to fix this and warned if they did not refund me I would take it further.
I can't wait to hear their patronising reply here.

Trust the negative reviews here, I decided to gamble and trusted the good reviews. I regretted it before I even got to the "members area" your forced to go through 3 very very long sections on "upgrading" to the pro version and other utilities they offer VERY LONG.
Then you get to the main section and see the FOUR voices you just purchased and the next thing you see is the limit you only get 500k characters a MONTH they tell you no direct limits but in the next sentence tell you if you go over 500k the system will lock you out SO I call that a direct limit.
Seems dishonest to me, 4 voices but unless your a kid only 3 one female two male. So the more people who buy the package the more your content will sound like everyone else
The single purchase fee drew me in but its actually like the fee to get in the door if you want a table, glass of water, menu and order food you have to pay more for each of them.
the Upgrade is a scam its not $47 usd its $47 4 times a year $188 USD a year WELL more than most others and you still have limits on the number of characters you can use.
For reference as to the type of business by the time my invoice hit my Email inbox Id received 4 emails from them pushing me to upgrade to pro and THEN the 4 must view (several scrolled pages) each of advertising. it was off putting to the extreme.
I just wanted to get to the product not wade through page after page telling me why what you just sold me was inferior and I should give you more for a better product.

On principle, I dislike these kind of business practices. I was on YT looking at Powerpoint content, and saw their ad "one time payment" I see. Heard all the fluff of the commercial, and "oh just 27 bucks". Buy. Then like 7 pages of "Special Offers you'll never see again". Then this guy on the welcome video has the audacity to say "Welcome to the Speechlo Family". (1/5 ethics/marketing style)
Now for the product; it's actually pretty good. Although limited in range of French voices for the basic pack, the ability to modify the speaking rate and pause function wherever needed in the text allows AI to give good results. (4/5 for product potential; 3/5 for below basic delivery on standard. = 3.5/5 )
I'll give Speechlo 2.5/5 for now...

A misleading SCAM
Speechelo offers a one-time price but neglects to tell you that your subscription is very restricted and that you need to subscribe to gain all of its benefits.
You get trapped into a funnel of extra costs to gain benefits.
Avoid getting trapped. Don't sign up.

Speechelo listed a 1-time payment offer for their software. When I upgraded, they turned that into a subscription without explaining that would happen. Now, I'm being charged for a subscription I don't use and there is no way to cancel the subscription through my profile. What's make that even worse is I don't use the software because it isn't that helpful.
As an update - I have asked several times for this company to stop the charges they are charging me and they have not. We have had to cancel our credit cards to stop this company from scamming our account. The original pitch was deceptive. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

I was looking for an alternative to my voice.
I was looking for an alternative to my (not-terribly-inspiring) voice narrating over math "how-to-do-it" videos for my online math tutoring business. Speechello has filled the bill admirably. I have the $27 version (which really is a bargain) and I use the Australian-English "Addison" synthetic voice, and it really is very clear and authentic. The only (minor) hassle I have with Speechello is that on rare occasions, the program hangs during speech processing, and I have to leave the site and rejoin. But this inconvenience is easily outweighed by the sheer usefulness of the product. Great software!

The software is easy to use
The software is easy to use. There is a video that explains you how to use it. Simple!
The other thing is that I have the pro version.much better. Now regarding the quality of voice that is the reason why I put 4 stars and not 5. For the French version for exemple, the voice sounds very robotic... I don't know if it is going to be the case in English... Also once the whole process is done, is the voice going to stay "human"? Don't know as I am not at that point. Otherwise brilliant tool and great support! Last thing, the founders are really in good communication with their clients which is rare! Try it!

Robotic and mispronouncing AI service
We are extremely disappointed with the quality of the voice. We decided on Billy Joel as we liked how it sounds on their website. When we got the final edit it sounds embarrassingly robotic and very far from the version they promote on their website. I would not recommend this service to anyone until we actually get what is promised to us. Wish I checked these reviews first as there are soo many 1 star. Not great and will now attempt to get my money back.
A pity as we really had our hopes up on this one.

Judging by the user interface, features, and selection and sound of voices, I Believe Speechelo to be one of the higher quality text to speech applications out there. The voices have the same level of clarity and expression as Revoicer, the new application that's been kicking around on YouTube ad's these days, so Speechelo is a very good, affordable alternative.

Dishonest marketing practices and unhelpful support
This business uses crappy contact form spam, and rudely uses incorrect email addresses on the “reply to” field to make it difficult to complain. When I contacted their support team to get taken off their spam list they refused and suggested instead that I just (effectively) turn off my contact form.
This business uses dishonest marketing practices and I do not recommend them.

Paddle net and cancellation
Contacted their customer service and received an email that subscription has been cancelled. Accidentally removed the email believing ongoing charges are gone.
Paddle.net again charged subscription and cancelled again on the paddle net.
Immediately disputed with my Citi credit card they are charging but dispute reversed.
To many people out there, please do not click the upgrade. They do not mention it is subscription and mis leading. It is extremely hard to find their customer service contact online. Whenever you receive receipt from paddle.net, then cancel there.
Who knows they will keep charge after cancellation after cancellation?
If Speechelo read my post, find my email and refund the charges made after cancellation request, not the paddle net.
