New glasses were wrong.

I really don't understand why it is so difficult to get something straightforward right first time. I have no complaints about the actual optometrist examinations I have received at this opticians. I have always found them to be very thorough. Where I do have issues is with the dispensing team. I recently ordered some new glasses which require a special colour lens tint. I arrived today to discover the new glasses had a tint that was completely wrong. The assistant whilst apologetic looked askance when I told her it was the wrong colour tint. She then told me that only a single colour tint exists in my colour. That clearly wasn't true since the colour of my current glasses was totally different to that contained in the new set. I also made a point of handing my current glasses to the previous assistant when ordering this new pair. She assured me she knew exactly which colour I needed: clearly not. But what also irritates me is the fact I was expected to pay in advance rather than when they have produced the correct glasses. This is not the first time these opticians assistants have messed up my order. Is it really so wrong to expect someone to do their job properly first-time?

Don’t waste your time, money and effort with this place.

Used this company for a pair of glasses for husband. Got glasses home 3 days later arm broke so had to take back and repair.
This week I have received junk mail from them regarding hearing aids.i have a zero tolerance policy to junk mail at my address and idont care who its fromif i wanted your service i would enquire and ask without the postman needing a wheelbarrow to deliver it. I have now asked you
to remove my husbands details from your registered service. I have also blocked your number on my phone. I won’t be back I will return to my regular optical service with my disabled husband . Lousy service in branch from start to finish. I won’t be back.

This applies to the March Cambs branch. Avoid it.

Histon branch - Disappointing experience

REVIEW FOR SPECTACULAR OPTICIAN IN HISTON, CAMBRIDGE:

My appointment started 20 minutes late. While the eye exam itself was fine (£50), the rest of my experience felt more like a sales pitch than genuine healthcare advice.

The optometrist used multiple scare tactics. I was told the rate of change in my prescription was "alarming," but an optometrist friend later confirmed it was a normal, age-related shift. They then made the medically incorrect claim that my current glasses (from a reputable online company) were likely "poor quality" and had caused this change.

This was followed by an aggressive upsell for Zeiss blue-blocking lenses for computer work, with the false claim that they aren't available from online retailers (they are).

The final straw was being charged £35 for a 10-second Pupillary Distance measurement made with a ruler—costing nearly as much as the exam itself. Most opticians include this for free or charge £5-£10. The fee felt designed to discourage me from buying glasses elsewhere.

I came in undecided about purchasing glasses here. The scare tactics, upselling, and overcharging made the decision easy - I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
