I genuinely hate Sparx Maths (and also Sparx Reader). It's extremely stressful and time consuming. Most of the time, Sparx will set you work that isn't even learnt at school. It's an awful thing and H... See more

I dislike this horrible website because it is deathly boring and I hate the stupid book checks and it makes me want to cry at every failed attempt and the stupid purple flag- WHY IS IT PURPLE?
As a parent (with postgrad science…
As a parent (with postgrad science degree) of a 14 y/o boy who uses Sparx I agree with much of the complaints of the youth below.
Sparx needs to fix:
1. Bookmark checks. Kids take screen grabs, they don’t write anything down. Seeing hard work disappeared at a book check is too painful for no learning value whatsoever. Frustration isn’t conducive to learning.
2. Volume of work. What is said to be half an hour is more like 90 mins with parent help.
3. Shorten the videos to about 30 seconds and focus more on exact question type.
4. A report issue button. I have seen questions I am sure were correct marked incorrect.
5. Back end, report to teacher how long the work actually takes. I think Sparx are over-selling the volume of questions which can be done in 30 mins and schools should be given accurate info.
6. Sparx, claim this review profile and act like all feedback is a gift. Improve your product.
The worst maths homework website in the universe.
This website is utter garbage. First, the fact that you HAVE to get 100% is bad on its own, and missing even one question makes it mark the homework as incomplete. Secondly, I have found multiple mistakes in their answers. I had a question which I literally went through with the teacher and the answer he gave me was listed as wrong by sparx, despite going through the whole method. A ‘report mistakes’ button is definitely needed.
This website doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I would give it -10 stars.
Definitely not recommended for schools, since even though all students are required to complete the homework correctly, it ultimately leads to them cheating and learning absolutely nothing, which largely defeats the point of having meaningful homework in the first place.
Please, if any schools are reading this review, think twice before implementing this website for homework.
sh❕t site
I absolutely detest this site. The bookmark checks are so sh-t and unnecessary, makes me go slower. I'm obliged to get 100% or the homework isn't complete. To all those lucky b@stards that still use hegarty or mathswatch, be thankful ur not suffering this pain. #bringmrhegartyback
The most annoying maths homework site award goes to… Sparx.
My school’s been using Sparx since the start of this academic year. At the start it was decent, but then the flaws began to show through. The majority of these flaws are missing features - such as Report an Issue, or actually useful videos. For example, I got stuck on a topic that I find pretty easy: vectors and transformations. I answered at least 7 times, knowing the answer had to be correct. Each one of those times, I got the Incorrect message. I’ve resorted to using GauthMath to check my answer, and this app agreed with it - Sparx didn’t. The worst four things about the site are that the majority of videos are in no way, shape or form directly related to the question. Second, there isn’t a Report Issue button like with Hegarty. Third - bookwork checks. Like we’re going to use answer books to revise. Finally, the most irritating, annoying, and most pointless thing with Sparx is that you MUST get all the questions correct if you want to complete the homework. Otherwise it counts as missing. Sparx doesn’t adapt to its users, unlike what they claim. It’s another god-awful maths site that doesn’t do a thing in the student’s favour.
I’d give a negative amount of stars if possible. One star is far too generous.
the amount of book-work checks makes me…
the amount of book-work checks makes me literally cry
it adds unnecessary time to my assignments, I want hegetary back
There are some extreme reviews here so…
There are some extreme reviews here so I'll try to be honest
Firstly it expects you to write down the answer to every question which is tedious and impractical
Secondly there is nothing in place to help you if you can't do a question there is the option to watch a video that explains how to do a question however these have 3 problems the people making them often seem condescending which can ruin people's confidence they can also make things quite complicated when they don't need to be and a couple of times I received a help video that wasn't helpful
Thirdly they expect you to get 100% of the questions right which is unreasonable when there is so few things in place to help you if you get a question wrong
Fourthly it often takes much longer then suggested when it gives you really tedious questions or questions with multiple parts for example it may appear to teachers that I only have 30 questions which should only take an hour each if those questions can easily take over five minutes
Finally sometimes the questions are way too hard especially if you have just started the topic and I am saying this as top of my maths class
Overall I would not recommend and hope that someone will make a better system in the near future
makes me hate maths
makes me hate maths. the videos arent helpful whatsoever and it doesnt tell you what the correct answer is until you have it.
Reasons why sparxs maths is the worst
Reasons why sparxs maths is the worst:
-Lots of BOOKWORK CHEEEEEEEEECKS
-bookwork checks are awful and useless
-what its the point if u already done the answer
overall, sparx math SUCKS
ridiculously depressing
The bookwork checks need to be looked…
The bookwork checks need to be looked at. They gave me a failure even when i got it right.
Good, but has a flaw.
Trying to take an unbiased opinion, Sparx is a really good website but there are a couple of issues that easily could be fixed to make it a better experience for everyone. One is to give the right answer if you get a question wrong twice. Sparx despises the knowledge of what's right by not telling you what's right. Not only this you can't even flag an answer that might be wrong, meaning that this platform could have countless mistakes (which many think it does). Sort out this problem and my review will move to 4 or 5. However, the website has taught me a lot through ensuring I do homework and try to do it well. Videos are nothing like as good as hegarty math's, so I use both the tools at the same time.

It's so bad you lose your weekend and it's very stressful and confusing. It never helps you when you get questions wrong. Every time I got one wrong it didn't help me to improve
The minigames are rigged and I think…
The minigames are rigged and I think that that is rather silly if you ask me, which I fully understand no one has but that higher or lower game is not only completely unfair but promotes gambling and that is hardly epic.
Rubish
I personally find it awful and I hate it so much, the book work checks are, in my opinion, pointless, and the bookwork codes are random, meaning it's hard to keep track of them, and I'll often flick through my notebook unable to find the correct answers so just have to redo the question. At least, they should have a numbering system for the bookwork codes. As an example, task 1: question 1 could be T1Q1 etc. Not to mention, if you get the question wrong it doesn't show you the answer, so you have absolutely no chance to see where you went wrong.
DONT USE THIS BS
If you know how to do a section off by heart and decide oh I don't need to write it down I make you restart everything! THIS IS BS! DO NOT USE THIS APP.
stop the torture
I have never experienced more anger than when the bookwork check thing comes up and I look down to see no codes
