I commissioned Southern Damp Proofing last December for tanking repairs in my pantry. Unfortunately, the experience has been a nightmare. From the start, the work felt rushed and the plastering finish was very poor. Despite my reservations, I paid them in full (in cash) before the job was fully tested because it was right before Christmas and I trusted them.

I was told that if any issues arose, they would return in January to fix them. As soon as the tanking began to leak, I reached out. The initial workers ghosted me immediately. I then escalated the issue to management, who initially promised to help, but they have since gone completely silent. They are now ignoring all my calls and emails. I am left with a leaking pantry which is damaging brand new panelling leading to futher damages and costs. Avoid this company, they will do half a job, take your money and ghost you.

After remediation works completed in December, we were left with more issues, including buckling panelling across three rooms and ongoing damp.

Three weeks ago, Southern Damp Proofing returned to resurvey and agreed to carry out further remediation to fix the issues they caused. Since then, we have been unable to get hold of them. We arranged three follow-up visits, all of which were missed with no resolution.

The property has been left in a worse condition than before the work started.

They were quick to come round and diagnose the damp problem (a leaking pipe under the basement floor and rising damp) and sent through a quote the same day. The job was booked in for 2 days later and completed quickly by the end of the week. There were no hidden costs and the team explained everything clearly. I am very pleased and would recommend them.

Southern damp proofing has been absolutely brilliant from the start to finish. 3 internal walls damp proofed and outside render repaired. I was told about every bit they have done step by step. I’ve had 2 follow up phone calls since completion. They donated 50 pound from the job to my charity of choice, even though they don’t post that they do this from every job. Really pleased

Really responsive, flexible on start dates & kept me up to date throughout the work. The team were polite, tidy and efficient. Dealing with damp swiftly and comprehensively is vital in any property, but as mine’s Victorian I really needed peace of mind that the fundamentals are dealt with. I’m really pleased with everything the team carried out.

Originally I was on the wrong end of a rogue employee who no longer works at the company, and was very aggrieved. But from that point on the company was great - they explained the situation to me very honestly, promised a full refund on work that was never carried out, and kept in touch throughout. They didn't end up doing any work for me, but the way they dealt with a very difficult situation says a lot about them.

We had a quote from 'sotherndamppprofing' for the vault area hallway and part living room area costing total £6,400 we went ahead with the work paid in full the work has not been carried out properly the vault area is full of holes/cracks from the substandard damp profing work and still has penetrating water Tobias Dono stated that it was condensation ? it is not .There are holes and cracks in the damp proofing treatment . The hallway is compromised and after being damp proofed on 8/1/25 still is damp never dried out ? I was told by Alan it was just salt ? there are serious issues with the substandard works which Tobias Dono and Alan who refuse to come back and make a proper job . The living room area we are yet to find out if the damp proofing was done correctly I will be very suprised if it has been done properly ?
Be aware their work is not up to standard and they will refuse to come address any issues or have a conversation ultimately its a very bad job I do not recommend them and my payment in trust was wasted as now have to get another contractor to remedie their mess

Can't recommend these enough, from beginning to end cannot fault the quality of the work and the communication was great, from the first phone call to the clearing up at the end of the job. Top class workmanship..

I had some rising damp on moving to a new house it was highlighted on the survey. I approached three companies for quotes and found Southern Damp Proofing. Checked out and saw that they were under new ownership and they had good reviews on their website but noticed a bad review which was a few years old (turns out it was the old owner).
