My sister told me about Smith Thompson…

My sister told me about Smith Thompson a year ago, but I was stuck in a contract with ADT. I was not happy with ADT because of the constantly increasing rates. My contract finally expired and I quickly switched to Smith Thompson. The technician switched me over in an hour and took the time to answer my questions and explain every thing to me. I am now paying half the price for the same service. What a great service! Peter in Plano TX.

Good Bye ADT - Hello Smith Thompson

I was with ADT/Brinks for almost 10 years. My rate went up one too many times and sometimes when I would trip the alarm ADT wouldn't call me. So I decided to start shopping. A friend referred me to Smith Thompson and it sounded too good to be true -- a locally based security company that provides the same services as ADT however it never raises its rates. The technician that did the Smith Thompson install was professional and courteous. I'm so happy I've switched and when people ask me about my security company I always tell them to check out Smith Thompson.

Tierd of overpaying for Monitoring

We were with another Security company for years and got tired of the overpriced monitoring and equipment upgrades. We shopped around and found Smith Thompson to be a perfect choice. The Tech that set our service up was very polite and knowledgeable. We are very happy with our new service and price with Smith Thompson.

So professional

So professional! Other company told me I needed new system. STS came and changed a battery and changed over my monitoring system for free. And monthly fee is way better too!! Feel so confident in them.

Smith Thompson

I have been a Smith Thompson customer for over three years. During that time, I have moved to a new home. I was expecting a hassle in trying to set up monitoring for my new address while continuing monitoring for my old address during the relocation process, but there was no hassle!!! They understood what I was trying to do in keeping monitoring on at both addresses and make the process of moving my service painless. Thanks, Smith Thompson.

Unethical tactics

Just contacted the company to inquire about monitoring service and was transferred twice, first to billing speaking with Lauire (sp?) (maybe I wasn’t clear about looking for service to the person who initially answered the call) and then to sales speaking with Brittney.

Positive - the first two individuals I spoke with were very friendly and seemed helpful.

Specifically looking at monitoring as I have existing equipment that works flawlessly and haven’t had any issues with the current monitoring provider, just looking at cost. Was clear about this with Brittney since my current provider also provided the installation but the contract is coming up and the current monthly pricing has included the cost of the “free” equipment. One of her first questions was the type of equipment I have - 2Gig specifically, and she informed me that was proprietary equipment and I would need a new install. She was trying to sell me a story that the wiring couldn’t be recovered. I’m sorry but magnets in existing hardwiring don’t understand the word proprietary. I could believe that maybe some of the wireless components would be proprietary but she told me the whole module would not be able to be used.

This was the first company I contacted because I have heard a lot of commercials on the radio professing how great the company is and I also would like to keep business local but she told me only the company who installed my equipment would be able to provide me service. Hmmm....low an behold the next call I made to a different company is very familiar with 2Gig equipment and provided a whole lot of details including what they would not be able to do.

Just based on this interaction alone and the false information provided I could not recommend a company that seems intent on selling unnecessary equipment.

Scott- Bryttani is a new rep, and didn't quite use the correct lingo.This has been addressed, I'm sorry about that. She is however correct that we don't use the 2GIG panel, and you are correct that hardwiring and magnets aren't proprietary. The reason why we don't use 2GIG panels is simply because we chose to use: DSC, Honeywell, or the IQ2. That is what we've found to have the highest reliability and user satisfaction. I highly recommend Smith Thompson

I highly recommend Smith Thompson. I have been with them for almost a year and I must say that I have been completely satisfied! When the installation tech came out he was very informative and didn’t mind answering the million questions I had about the system that he was installing. The things I love most is the affordability with no cancellation fee, excellent customer service, and being able to control my alarm from my phone. I have no complaints!

5 stars, no contracts

Great home security monitoring company with absolutely no contracts! I couldn't imagine going with another company that forced you into a 24-36 month contract.

The tech that was sent out to do my install and hook up was great. Very personable, professional and knowledgeable. He made a comment about the velvet Elvis painting above my fireplace that sparked a nice 20 minute conversation.

I cannot recommend Smith Thompson enough

After experiencing dishonesty and…

After experiencing dishonesty and difficult results with several companies, I decided to give Smith Thompson a call. I am glad I did because the experience was painless and very satisfying. I was able to get service in a timely manner and the tech was very professional and cleaned up after the installation. I will recommend this company to others.

Very unprofessional technical support…

Very unprofessional technical support team.
I called because my key fob wasn't working, get in touch with a technical support member Andrew. He was trying to sell me a new key fob because the serial number he was looking for it's not there. Also very rude and unprofessional . I submit a support online to the company but no one contacted me. Very unprofessional technical support team.

Unfortunately the reason this customer was having 'trouble' with the support team was that his account had been terminated for non payment....twice... in the last year. No one was trying to sell him anything and no one was rude or unprofessional. It's important that the truth be disclosed here as this is clearly a misuse of the review system.

Best Option to keep your Home Safe

I live in McKinney and have Smith Thompson for my first house. They are Honest, reliable and best value for your money. They give you everything or better that other big names offer you in the name of home security without swindling you of your hard earned money. The installation was quick and the services are efficient. They called within a few seconds, when I accidentally tripped the alarm a few times. Smith Thompson is a trusted name in Texas. I will definitely recommend.

A great choice

I have a recent-construction home that came with a pre-wired security system. I spent a good amount of time checking with my neighborhood Facebook page and online reviews about my options for security monitoring companies. I finally settled on Smith Thompson. They scheduled me out quickly to activate their service on my system.

Have to say I'm impressed by their price for monitoring and even mobile app control. The monthly price is about half what I would have paid with the other company I considered! I know the service works well because I've accidentally set off my alarm a couple times now and they call right away :).

The short version is, I highly recommend Smith Thompson Security in the Frisco/Plano area.

Go With Smith Thompson!

We had been with a different security company for 27 years. As our bill continued to rise, we decided to shop around. Smith Thompson had solid reviews - so we called. They have been Great! Our bill is half what it was before and they set up our system using the equipment we already had. The tech who came out was very nice and efficient. Have been very happy with our switch to Smith Thompson!

I would recommend Smith Thompson…

I would recommend Smith Thompson without any reservations whatsoever! We were customers of Protection One for over 25 years and then we moved and realized that there isn't a contract with Smith Thomson! Their customer service is TOP NOTCH! My daughter will be moving into her first home next month and we will definitely tell her to get Smith Thompson!

Great Home Security Provider

We chose Smith Thompson Home Security for our new home because of their reputation. Their prices are affordable and their services were exactly what we were looking for and the company didn't push us to upsell for services we didn't need. Our technician was very courteous and knowledgeable. He provided us with a user manual and explained how to use our system in a way that was easy to understand. He was very willing and able to answer all of our questions and was very personable. We've been using Smith Thompson Home Security for a few months and have been pleased with the services provided. We continue to recommend them to friends, family, and neighbors because of the excellent service we've been provided.
