We have been trying to move an electric supply over to a new tenant since December 2025 Smartest Energy make the process as difficult as possible demanding unreasonable details & documents. It should be a simple process. Their customer service team are rude and unhelpful ask to speak to a supervisor or manager and there isnt one or they are 'on holiday' today this response is always given which suggests a person with responsibility does not want to deal with a low grade customer on the telephone. In a highly regulated world it is unbelievable that an energy company can just block and make a switch as difficult as possible in an effort to retain the account. I have 35 supplies with them. I will NOT be renewing and I will never use them again once the contracts expire. Be warned, go elsewhere!

After 3 failed attempts with different customer agents, I finally made progress when Mathew took my case on. He was knowledgeable, professional and dealt with the issues I’m having with my contract. He is now following the progress of my complaint with the other departments.

Poor service, incorrect billing, no accountability
I signed a contract renewal with Smartest Energy in October 2025, which was supposed to take effect from January 2026.
However, the agreed tariff was never applied, and I have been charged on a much higher out-of-contract flexible rate instead.
What’s worse is the customer service experience. I have been repeatedly passed between the renewals team and customer service, with neither taking ownership or resolving the issue.
This has resulted in overcharging and a significant waste of time chasing something that should have been handled correctly from the start.
Very disappointing experience so far. I hope this can be resolved quickly, otherwise I will be escalating this to the Energy Ombudsman.
