Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 52 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the product quality to be poor, with devices often being faulty, not working as advertised, or producing distorted and tinny sounds. People frequently reported that the hearing aids did not fit properly, even with the smallest ear tips, making them uncomfortable or causing them to fall out. The refund process was a major source of frustration, with many struggling to receive a full refund despite the advertised 45-day risk-free trial, which customers often described as misleading or unfulfilled. Reviewers also highlighted significant issues with customer contact, noting that communication was appalling, responses were delayed, and obtaining a return address was difficult or impossible. However, some people were satisfied with the product, finding the hearing aids to be superior to other options and significantly improving their hearing, leading to a positive impact on their daily lives.

So far, so good…

Received mine yesterday. Charged up and fitted ear tips per instructions, and inserted in ears. A few whistles then they settled down. All good on first day, but still getting used to adjusting volume and programme. They seem to work for me, so I will continue using them, and experimenting with adjustments in different environments. Will need replacement ear tips regularly since my old NHS aids make my ears generate lots of wax. Can’t seem to find out how to order them just yet. Recharged overnight and fingers crossed today that they will continue to work.

The 45 day refund is a complete scam

The 45 day refund is a complete scam. Read the small print and you'll see they have a get out clause for everything -"diminished value" means you'll never get your £149 back. Avoid at all costs!!!

I wish I had never heard of this company

I wish I had never heard of this company. Purchased on 12th APRIL. Received Hearing Aids on 16th APRIL Although the User manual was stamped PASS QA01 the actual package had the ten varying size of ear tips missing from The Accessory box. This box was slightly damaged and had clearly been repackaged following a 'return' as the charging cable wasn't secured.
Seems this company stall at every stage requesting photos (of what's missing??). They denied sending out 'Returns but asked if the Wax Guards were "blocked or discoloured"!
Tips arrived 29th APRL and I enquired if this was now the commencement of the trial period but "Lorraine" said NO. However, I was unable to use even the XS SIZE tip without severe screeching feed back. Many more emails ensued, with them continuing to request photos and further information while sending resources to "Help While I get Used To Them". BUT NO TIPS ACTUALLY FITTED MY EAR!
I have stated I am unable to send phots, and can see from other reviews that my experience is the same as theirs when dealing with Smart Hearing.
On 5th MAY I requested a refund due to the size of my ear canal not allowing even the XS to fit/work without screeching feedback.
On 13th MAY, they appear to acknowledge what I've been told by a hospital Audiologist, that my ear canals are very small/narrow, and have now "escalated my case to their Legal Department for a "formal review to consider a fair outcome". This "typically takes 2-3 business days to complete their review".
Of course they may now say I am outside the Trial Period!!
Meanwhile, I will be contacting Consumer Advice & Trading Standards regarding my position with Smart Hearing

Have expensive hearing aids from…

Have expensive hearing aids from Specsavers for the last 4 years. I have had problems with my ears( block up regularly) since childhood and have them syringed 3 times a year. Specsavers ones hook over the ear and wanted to try ones that fitted in the ear but not at Specsavers prices. The cost of these ones far out weighed the risk price wise so ordered a pair which arrived about 5 days after ordered. First time I tried them had a lot of feed back but then I'm due for my next appointment for ear syringing. Tried them again changed the domes for larger ones and their great, can hear better than with Specsavers £2000 ones. So yes very pleased with my purchase."

NOT worth your time nor money

ordered these hearing aids about a month ago, tried them on all settings and all volumes for a couple of hours each time, they amplify the sound but in a very mechanical tone. They are not the quality that they suggest they are in their ads. Communication with the company is appalling. They clearly hope that by making you chase their help desk that you will give up and hence donate £149 to their bottom line. Still trying to get return instructions but not at all hopeful of success. IF you heed any advise at all, don't touch these with a barge pole !!!

The hearing aids are probably good but…

The hearing aids are probably good but the pair that I've received are faulty. The right hand one makes an extremely loud noise randomly and it impacts on my tinnitus. So I am unable to use them. I've contacted smart hearing and they are at present promising to replace them but they are not very good. I've had to wait and wait they are far outside their promised remit of replying within 48 hours. Now I just keep getting repeat emails saying the same thing over and over. I've replied with the same answer verifying my address. I guess it's an algorithm I'm dealing with not a person.
The aids when I've briefly had them working seem ok. They make my voice very loud but I still can't hear the TV that well.
The whole experience has been a lot of hassle and very disappointing.

Hearing aids good but did not fit in my ears

The hearing aids did not fit in my ears. My ear canals were too narrow and they did not stay in my ears. I asked to return them for a refund as stated in their advertisement (I sent them the requested photos) but all I got was emails, nine in total. I have returned them to the return address on the package so I await their refund of £149. I will update if and when I receive it.

Update: My Revolut bank resolved my dispute and I received a refund.

I am now receiving emails from Smart Hearing asking me to retrieve the sent parcel as the return address on package was not the correct address to send them to. I have to contact that address and retrieve the parcel. When I have retrieved the package I have to contact them again for the ‘correct’ address and return the aids by recorded delivery. This will take a long time! Meanwhile their name keeps changing from Smart Hearing to Try Smart Hearing and Hear Well. Thankfully to my Bank I received my £149.99.

A new lease of hearing for my 86 year old mum x

My 86 year old mum is very hard of hearing and as such watched our lips and tried to join in our conversation. We tried a few hearing aids but the smile on mum's face when we put in her smart hearing aids would bring you to tears. Now other family members have ordered. Also the communication from Christine was 1st class, cannot fault my experience.

Very Happy Wife

I found the hearing aids far superior to the set I was supplied from the NHS. I wear them every day for 8+ hours on average. I have settled on the 2nd Mode which I find to be the comfortable for my hearing. I place them in the charging station at night and I think I shall probably only charge the charging station once a week. So far the person that is most pleased with my hearing aids is my wife (she has stopped shouting at me).
