Glad I read these reviews at 78% 1*s

Glad I read these reviews at 78% 1*s.

I've been trying for nearly a week asking what the leg length of their PJS are as I'm fed up of having to waste time and energy sending stuff back to manufacturers because the leg length is 3-4" too long - I'm the UK average height of 5' 3".

I had a bit of a non-answer "Our size Small is designed with a more petite fit in mind. When you first try them on, the legs may feel slightly longer, but this is because we use untreated organic cotton. After the first wash, the interlock fabric naturally tightens and shortens a little, giving a better overall fit." Then said "...leg length is a personal preference." Well, it is if you want them to fit.

So I emailed again asking specifically for hip-to-toe or inside leg measurement of their Medium - the small won't fit as it's equivalent to a size 8 - and if they shrink in the wash then...!

I received reply today (16/4/2026) advising they're a tiny team of two and it's Easter holiday, which I accepted (it's on their website). But then, I'd have thought any PJ company would know the leg length of their products.

Isn't shrinkage in the wash leaving us to completely guess the size?

I miss the days when I could just walk into M&S or BHS and buy good quality PJs that fitted straight off, were make in the UK and didn't cost a small fortune. I had a tartan check (a green and a red) from each of these stores, and they lasted me over 20 years, and I had to let them go to PJ Heaven (rag man a charity shop) last year. I really miss them.

It's not just Sleepy Doe. I've found the same with several companies including (to name a couple) Cyber Jammies and Fable & Eve - had a complete refund from them after their soft, modal hotel PJs virtually fell apart on me - they were £48 in the half price sale!

Thought I'd found 'the' PJs in Pixie Girl (not made in UK or Europe though) with perfect leg length and reasonable price but quality is rubbish - elastic in waistband, twisted on first sleep and can't twist it back, collar is all curled over so can't see the piping fully, I keep finding bits of webbing which I think is to make collar stay in place, on the floor, and the buttons started to fall undone after a couple of washes, each time I sleep in them or even just move around - the Fable & Eve ones did this too - must be to do with the soft modal fabric.

How did buying something so simple become so complicated, for good sake?

Shrink much more than 5%

First wear I absolutely loved the oversized fit (I’m a size 10 5ft8 and bought a medium) . Made the mistake of washing them on a normal wash and they shrunk by about a foot in length and so looked awful. However I presumed it was my fault and bought another pair as the first wear was so cozy. However after washing on delicate this pair also shrunk so that they’re flapping around my ankles. So disappointing.

The perfect pj!

I've been wearing, buying and gifting Sleepy Doe pjs for 5+ years now and love the brand and product. Their unique designs and quality material make them a great pj! I often buy throughout the year for myself and my two children. I also buy them often as presents for others. I'm shocked to read the other reviews, I have never once had an issue with the product, quality or custom service. I would highly recommend

Basic quality pyjamas that shrink and become misshapen

The pyjamas are a cotton jersey, of not brilliant quality. It advises on the website to go a size up which I duly did. It also says there will be a 5% shrinkage due to the fact it’s untreated cotton. Sadly I should think it was more like a 10+% shrinkage and the trousers are now too short and the top is too shorter and much wider.
I wrote to complain and got a very patronising and passive aggressive reply. Basically, bad luck mate we’re not at all interested. The other thing I find questionable is that they clearly state that anything bought in the sale online is final and they will not accept returns. This is really bad practice as I think that is contravening consumer rights. Don’t waste your money buying from this company,

Not worth the price

Very poor quality pyjamas especially for the price. I received a pair as a present and then gifted a pair to my sister. Both pairs have shrunk despite washing on 30 degrees and air drying. Also have lost their shape. I contacted customer services who were entirely unhelpful and didn’t seem interested in the feedback at all. Such a shame for a small company as I had a lot of faith in their products and ethos overall and the patterns are so lovely. Would stick to cheaper alternatives frankly.

Awful quality and bad customer service

Awful quality and bad customer service. Pyjamas washed as per instructions, purchased a size up due to cotton shrinkage. My pyjama bottoms ended up looking like shorts. Don’t waste your money, customer service are no help. Wish I’d read the reviews on here.

I bought 2 pairs of pyjamas a month ago…

I bought 2 pairs of pyjamas a month ago from sleepy doe. They were massive. The photographs make the quality look much better than they actually are in really life. The print sits on top of the fabric and they have poppers as used I assume in the kids wear. I wrote to lucy to return them and had pay for the return-fair enough. I sent by Royal Mail tracked.
I have emailed lucy at least 3 times and she just ignores my messages. I will write to my bank now to try and get my money back. I think for a brand that makes out they have ethical standards their behaviour is shockingly below par. It’s a shame as I would love to support small brands such as this. At the end of the day she has my money and I have nothing.

Shrinking pyjamas

I bought a pair of these pyjamas for a relative for Christmas as she has always supported this company. They were an expensive buy for me so I was very disappointed to hear that after one wash they had shrunk. This isn't good enough for any garment let alone expensive ones like these.

AVOID. Massive sizes, average quality, shady service.

I ordered a pair of the womens PJs a couple of weeks ago. These were a really expensive splurge for me as a treat for my 30th birthday. I had read reviews online that told me to avoid this company and that the customer service was unhelpful, and the quality was poor, but thought I would give it a go. Not only were the sizes incorrect on the website, the postage expensive and the waiting time long, the quality was also not what I expected, so I had to pay to return them based on these errors. I then got an email stating they were not refundable as they were covered in long and short black hairs- I have curly, blonde hair and was nowhere near animals when I opened the parcel and noticed how massive they were. I also saw no hairs when I packed them away.. Now I am left with a very expensive yet very average pair of pyjamas that are way to big for me, two postage costs later. I expressed that I had no idea how this could have happened, but was told that they were not returnable and little else. I have truly no idea how these mysterious hairs apparently appeared on the pyjamas, but what else can you do when its my word against theirs. I never leave reviews but I don't want someone else to treat themselves and then get this disappointment. To say I am extremely disappointed is a huge understatement.

Beautiful pieces that fall apart after 2 wears (& terrible customer service)

I absolutely LOVE these pieces but they do not last the test of time. I bought 3 baby grows for my 7month old, after 2 wears they had all torn around the poppers. I’ve also got the womens pyjamas which I love but have felt very upset with the way ‘customer service’ dealt with the situation… essentially saying ‘thats what you get with organic cotton’ and then simply ignoring me. I have many friends who ask me where i’ve purchased such beautiful looking babygrows but sadly I tell them not to bother as they simply dont last.
