Sky Stream is a dreadful service

Sky Stream is a dreadful service No recording facility Playlist is awful If you put a series on playlist half the time you have to search through loads of episodes to find the latest Sound keeps going, it freezes especially when running forward or back It has on occasions switched to another channel I have followed all instructions I e changing sound digital output all failed What on earth were Sky thinking this was not ready to be released and cannot go back to Sky Q wish I had not gone back to Sky I was with Sky for well over 20 years but cost kept increasing so went to Virgin and then returned to Sky I didn’t realise it would be a different service otherwise I would have never left Virgin

Recording sports and films

Recording sports to watch later is rubbish.
Recorded the football I started watching in HD after an hour the quality was so poor it was hard to see the ball. If you try to watch before the program has finished it will go to live stream then ask you if you want to watch from the beginning about 10 seconds later it's a bit late when you see the score and recording films isn't a great experience

Utterly worthless piece of garbage

Utterly worthless piece of useless garbage. Paying £80+ a month for this dismal lump of junk to watch sport. It is truly dreadful. The only reliable thing about it is that it will let you down at the crucial moment in any match. Good luck trying to reboot the filth.

Can someone contact me as I haven't got time to sit here on hold. We thought originally it was our fibre but this has been all updated so it's definitely your puck. Always starts freezing and buffering at around 18.00 onwards so don't feel I'm getting what I'm paying for. It's definitely the puck as tonight is at least the 10th time I've reset it and it's working again. If it's not rectified I will cancel as it's not fit for purpose

doesn't work properly

doesn't work properly - picture freezing, box crashes, audio / sync issues. waste of time. glad only signed up on a month contract. cancelled within a week. I've got 1gb broadband so its not related to internet speed, also all the other tv apps like iplayer/itvx etc work on the tv with no issue using the same internet.

its odd that sky would release something that clearly doesnt work and looking at the other reviews im not the only one that thinks its crap.

Avoid this at all costs.

This just does not work

This just does not work. I spend a lot of time looking at a blank screen or the circle of doom going around and around.. I got fibre 500 with the package but it still happens. I have reset the equipment a few times but it does not seem to get any better. I am very disappointed in the setup. I also see lots of channels that I cannot watch without upgrading. The service is very poor.

Do not get stream!

It has become extremely difficult to watch anything other than live TV. Highly dissappointed and would not reccomend to anyone.

Utter rubbish

Utter rubbish, constantly crashes. Overnight standby requires box reset every day. Every night whilst watching a program the box crashes. Sky support useless, 'try resetting the box' is the best they offer. Disgusting.

Glitchy unreliable and at times unwatchable absolutely rubbish but what can you do sky customer service is worse than ever I would rather stick my fingers in the plug socket than have the hours of speaking and repeating myself to 19 different stupids

It's failure to pause a programme while you make a cup of tea( it turns the puck off after just a few minutes of being paused) is so annoying it makes the whole experience frustrating and disappointing. Needless to say I will not be renewing with Sky

Sky Stream is a disaster

Sky Stream is a disaster. After a fortnight of it supposedly being set up it still isn’t working. I have had tv intermittently but no landline or Netflix. Their online chat robots only understand words of one syllable and then type done if they can’t grasp those which cuts off the communication. No human beings with skilled knowledge seem to be employed by this part of Sky and certainly no skilled engineers who could come to your home and fix this woeful system .
I did get an undertaking from them that no money would be taken from my account before they had got this working for me, however they took a payment yesterday so they can’t even be trusted to honour any commitment. Don’t choose Sky

Why it is so appalling the bad.

I don’t understand if sky controls the hardware and the software, why it is so appalling the bad.
If you part watch a show or movie and then come back to it a week later, it’s totally forgotten your position or which episode you are on. No other streaming service does!
I’ve had to connect it to a smart plug so the wife can use Alexa to reboot the skybox because it needs to be rebooted so often.

Fuming …

Thanks sky was watching Wolves v Man United it keeps freezing and my BT internet gives out 58 to 62 Mbps. So why I have now missed the goal. It even froze during the replay.

Dreadful

Sky Puck is absolutely dreadful. Apps don't load, channels won't open, frequent messages telling me to wait. Not a week goes by when I don't have to unplug it to reset due to freezing. The most frustrating thing is how little time you can pause a programme for before it turns itself off - sometimes as little as five minutes. How I wish I had read the other bad reviews before I signed up to two years of this misery.

Same as everyone! Screen stutter, message that appears frequently saying wait for your program to load , having to reboot all the time, I could go on. Been with Sky for many years but getting increasingly fed up. Sort it out !

At first was impressed with it but it has a few bugs. For some reason my broadband seems to stop working around about 1am which is a problem when thats how you get your tv

Also paying extra for a the skip adds feature which becomes an annoyance when you want to fast forward to something you've been watching as it sometimes doesn't always pick up from where you left something and it wants to slow down to the adds which you've paid to skip btw

There's quite a few bugs and it always revolves around some paid feature

That being said with the right software upgrades I think it will be good eventually

AVOID 🙈. Further to my earlier review 13th October 2025

Further to my earlier review 13th October 2025 this awful system continues to disappoint.
I have yet to find one single benefit to having Sky Stream over Sky Q however there are LOTS of negatives.
It relies 100% on the internet working:
No recording are stored only a link to try and find your programme which is very problematical for sports;
No access to +1 channels
The actual navigation is extremely cumbersome, having worked in IT system design for over 20 years this wouldn’t have got passed system testing let alone being rolled out and going live (one of our trainees would have made a better attempt).
I could go on but to be honest it’s so bad just don’t even contemplate getting Sky Stream.
If anyone out there from Sky or a customer that has previously had Sky Q that can point out just one positive aspect of Sky Stream over Sky Q I would love to hear from you.
It is no doubt a massive saving for Sky not having to provide Sky boxes with memory but for customers it is terrible. Learn from my mistake and avoid this useless bit of technology.
