Terrible work

Terrible work. I hired this guy to do a very small interlock project to replace an existing patio stone walkway. We agreed to do a 2 stone size layout using a specific stone he told us to go and see at a landscaping shop. The stone looked good so we went with it. When the stone got brought to our property it was not only the wrong size, only 1 vs 2 sizes, but also totally different color. Ok he took it back and couple days later showed up with correct stone sizes but again not the actual color it was supposed to be. Ok lets just get this installed. This is where the disaster of an installation proceeded to happen. I'm not sure if he has never done interlock before but the installation looks like it was done by a 10 year old.

Everywhere you look there are stones that have 1/2" height differences with stones around it. Edges sticking out everywhere. The border stones are either sloped inward or outward. What used to be a nice even slope before is now a random hill and valley. Gaps between stones from tiny to enormous. At the end he proceeded to dump a bunch of join filter compound everywhere without actually filling the joins. He started spraying it with water and told us to do the same for 3 days. This filler is actually water activated which hardens and sticks to the stones. So not only are the joins not filled but the filler is now glued on top everywhere.

This new interlock looks like something that's 30 years old. I will have to rip this all out and redo it.

I asked him to fix it but he is blowing me off, giving me weeks time frame. I'm not going to wait weeks to be then told more delays because I know that will happen. He said if I don't like it then I can go to court. Anyone that does this kind of work can't be trusted.
