Great company

Great company, guided me through 2 years of my apprenticeship. Co-ordination team is top. Jadie was always available for any questions or concerns and is a really nice person in general.

Would recommend.

Absolute disaster avoid

Absolute disaster avoid ! The delivery of “learning” is terrible. Roll on roll off means you can join and be very new in the career but be required to start units that require a fair bit of experience. Recipe for failure. Units roll all year with no breaks. Teaching is remote, endless talking at you for hours. Clearly do not understand the concept of concentration for typical student. I could give numerous examples of bad practice.

Great option for an online delivered course

I did an online HNC course with Skills4Stem and the course was delivered well by the tutors. The way the course is structured means the students are required to allocate their own time to in order to complete the assignments.
I can see this would not suit some students but for me it worked perfectly with my employer and i was pleased to complete the course.

Good

The course was a good experience with good support from Martica Damon and Paul Montogemery. However, the course was delayed several months due to the NVQ process not being done correctly, so the EPA process took a long time to enter. Another note, when I had course sessions on bank holidays there were no rearrangements which led to some more delays. Support system is great, organisation and time management need some work. Overall, I'm happy with the process, just not with how long it took.

My experience with Skills4Stem was great

After just finishing my HNC, I can say that my experience with Skills4Stem was an overall positive one, with particularly helpful and supportive tutors and support officers like Martica Damon and Paul Montgomery who went out of their way to assist in delivering my course.

AVOID

Hi Jordan

You have not provided us with a VAT invoice for this, why is that?

Once you do provide a valid VAT invoice for this we can pass this on to our solicitors with a view to suing you for the lack of delivery of the course. I have emails from Ben Davidson, the main one attached where you admit that you were unable to complete our apprentice’s apprenticeship due to not being able to attract any 3rd party company to provide the EPA. He offered a quite dubious and hurried arrangement (my wife works for Nottingham College), of you convincing the government to provide an in house EPA but in a very short timescale. My wife was somewhat amazed at this, for the course level you were offering! This didn’t work for Arthur as he was on leave that week. I’m sure you have recorded the google meeting? Please forward that to us so I pass this on to our solicitor. Had Aurthur been available for then hurried, last minute EPA, he would have attended. Disillusioned with the course he was on he resigned from his role

In relation to the apprenticeship programme referenced, we understand your frustration and regret that the situation did not conclude as intended. It’s important to note that we made every effort to secure a compliant and high-quality End Point Assessment (EPA) solution within government guidelines. Unfortunately, we were operating under external constraints at the time regarding the availability of third-party EPAOs for this specific standard. While we did explore the possibility of an employer-led solution, this was always presented transparently and with the intent of supporting the learner, never to compromise the integrity of the qualification.

We also wish to confirm that our team held a scheduled Google Meet with Arthur to present this option and answer any queries.

We always strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for our learners, and in our experience, apprenticeships work best when there is a close and supportive partnership between the employer, the learner, and the training provider. Clear communication and a shared understanding of roles and responsibilities can make a real difference when challenges arise.

While we regret that Arthur chose to resign from his role, we remain committed to helping every apprentice complete their journey wherever possible and within regulatory frameworks.

Worst college I've had the displeasure of being enrolled on

The lack of services is:

Don't respond to my emails until I contact the MD.

Not responded to all my queries.

Keep emailing wrong Teams meeting links that each week does not work.

No block or 'week before a session' meeting invites on Teams as I don't know when the next college sessions are. At work vat 8am and only, by chance, check my emails to find out I've got an eCollege session on the day - I have to brush home. Happens frequently.

Service is the worst I've come across- I had 2 apprenticeship colleges in the past, and they were so much better.

Reported to the government's Apprenticeships Service department.

I had an Online 1-2-1 session with Paul…

I had an Online 1-2-1 session with Paul Montgomery on improving my Revit (BIM) skills to complete my Unit 6 assignment. Paul showed me that I needed to keep things simple and do things in 'Baby Steps'. I realised that I did not need to be an expert to pass the assignment. I need to make sure that I meet all the criteria to pass the Unit. Paul was very helpful as I am neurodivergent (dyslexic). I need to keep things simple so that I remember what to do if I use Revit again (for Unit 1) on the HNC (Distance Learning).

I spoke to Mario today in an interview. He was very informative and made sure I knew everything i needed to know about the course. He was very friendly and nice to talk to.

Woeful College Course

Skills4Stem is one of the worst learning experiences I have ever dealt with. There has been less than adequate help provided for assignments and the teaching is an absolute waste of time (reading a document is not teaching, anyone can read a document) I won't even go into how many times my timetable has changed, whilst having no sessions;
The customer services team are rude and unhelpful;
I would go as far to say Skills4Stem are setting students up for failure;
I would not recommend this course to anyone based of my experience.
