Horrible customer service.
We have good, bad and horrible.
I rate horrible.
Don’t open a US account!
After having been a happy customer for many years, I’m disappointed in Simplii. I would NOT RECOMMEND using their US funds account. Not only was it difficult to get the money into it, they charged me a fee of almost 8% of the balance to get the funds out, merely because I wanted to keep them in US funds!! Then they sent me FOUR letters and account information pamphlets acknowledging my complaint about the fee- such a waste of money.

Simpli DON'T!
Simpli DON'T!
My experience with Simpli echo's many other 1 star reviews I should have read before signing up.
Any e-transfer over $100 is blocked. I sent a $1 test transfer, to both my old account and my partner, both successful. I was intending to transition to Simpli and still needed funds in my existing accounts.
After the initial test transfers, a transfer to my partner for $391.58 was blocked and flagged as “Fraud” My e-transfer of $1000 to my old account was flagged as fraud and Simpli locked my VISA for a single $58 purchase at Subway that was verified by PIN, clearly a fraudulent transaction.
After spending 45 minutes on hold, I asked why so long on hold, I was told they handle all of CIBC's “Fraud” as if Simpli being under staffed is the customers fault.
I explained that I would be sending additional e-transfers to the same email they just blocked. This was 2 days ago. Again, this morning I tried to send $1250 (Well under the $3K limit) and it is blocked.
At this point I have every confidence my mortgage payment will be flagged as “Fraud” and blocked as well.
It's not worth the sign up bonuses they offer.
Don't make my mistake and sign up.
Unfortunately 1 is the lowest rating I can give.
Do not bank with simplii
Do not bank with simplii it is not worth all the wasted time you'll have to spend on hold every time they put a restriction on your account for no reason. I have lost count of how many times I have had to call them and sit on hold indefinitely to fix one thing or another. It has only been two weeks since the last time when I had to call six times to resolve one issue which was them bouncing all my incoming e-transfers. Now that's been resolved and all of a sudden they won't let me SEND e-transfers.
Not worth the wasted time to bank with them. I'm switching to Tangerine.
Very bad banking company
Very bad banking company. I been with this company for very long time .
I had very bad issue. I was trying to fix . I got no help. I been going around the circle .
Customer Service call takes for ever to get an Assistance.
Seriously been on call for the last 2+ hours to speak to one of the CSR, First time on call for 1+ hours then hung up to call back again, another 1+ hours, still waiting.. seems there may be a security block that would have been placed by the Account Activity team and the only team at which can assist with unblocking the card/account. Not sure how long I need to be on call to get in touch with a CSR.. worst customer service.
Extremely Disappointing Experience
I am extremely disappointed with Simplii Financial.
I have been a client for over 20 years, dating back to when this was PC Financial, long before Simplii took over.
I currently have $120,000 sitting in my chequing account, yet when I called to temporarily increase my daily withdrawal limit to take out $4,000, my request was denied.
The reason given was that I had two chargebacks in October, neither of which were caused by me, nor did either put my account into a negative balance.
• One chargeback was from a government disability cheque for a tenant. The cheque was mailed to me and deposited. Unknown to me, Disability cancelled it due to the Canada Post strike and reissued another cheque for pickup. I was never notified that the original cheque was cancelled, so it later bounced — completely outside my control.
• The second cheque was from a client who pays me monthly for a private mortgage I funded.
Despite having substantial funds in my account and no overdraft issues, Simplii treated me as a risk and refused access to my own money.
To make matters worse, I asked to speak with a supervisor and was placed on hold for over 20 minutes, only to be told that no supervisor was available. I eventually had no choice but to hang up.
Denying a long-standing customer access to $4,000 when they have $120,000 in the account — with no meaningful explanation or escalation support — is unacceptable. This experience has completely eroded my trust in Simplii Financial.
WHEN ITS 4:30am, AGENTS SHOULD KNOW THAT TIME IS NOT TO BE WASTED - and to NOT hang up on a woman stranded and alone, needing access to her bank to fix this situation,
wait over an hour only to be hung up on? SIMPLII FINANCIAL, DO BETTER. I hate to say this, but this last phone call to simplii has made my blood boil. The male person I spoke to had a very difficult accent. This is after I heard 3 other agents pick up and drop me back into the queue at 4am, while I am having a vehicle emergency and require access to my bank. He begins to "school" me on the topic of me getting a new phone number, as I had explained that I have ESIMS and not a SIM CARD, so when/if something happens to that phone, I have to get a NEW ESIM - at least that's what my phone company's policy is - they aren't transferable.
SOOOO GLAD that an employee at SIMPLII wants to advise me on my sim cards. Now, I am REALLY irritated, as this is unecessary conversation at this point, and I cut him off to tell him that I am in a bit of a hurry, that I have been stuck in my vehicle for over an hour and I couldn't log into my bank account due to having a NEW phone number (you know, you have to get a CODE for EVERYTHING nowadays). He then proceeds to tell me that my card is locked which isn't a surprise, you folks lock the cards two-three times a WEEK - wasting my time yet again and again and again having to call in for nothing - trust me when I say that if I had a problem with a transaction, at 51 years of age, I would CALL you immediately. This MALE PERSON of MIDDLE EASTERN DECENT decides to go over transactions that are from SEPTEMBER until NOW. I AM NOW READY TO SCREAM. IT IS NOW 5:00 am and I HAVE BEEN WAITING IN MY VEHICLE FOR SOMEONE TO HELP ME GET ACCESS TO MY BANK. I explain again to this man that I am cold, I am tired, and I have zero patience left. He THEN speaks OVER me to tell me (and you could tell he enjoyed saying this) that if I keep stopping his ability to speak which I was NOT, that he would hang up on me. THAT MAY AS WELL BEEN A BOMB ON MY CAR AT THAT POINT. I again told him that I had been waiting for far too long at this time of night, and that I am ALREADY extremely late getting home, this is nuts. Before I was done that sentence, he had hung up.
Can you folks please put more money into training these guys, I mean, it isn't rocket science to perhaps NOT DELAY a WOMAN who is ALONE, stuck in a parked vehicle in the middle of nowhere and needs access to their bank to remedy this situation, you folks are missing the point of "customer service". And this specific MALE PERSON OF EASTERN DECENT should also be reminded that HE IS NOT the BOSS of MY phone bill, nor is he the boss of ME and that he NEVER SHOULD HAVE HUNG UP on a woman who is stranded and needs this help. I want to tear my hair out after this interaction, as I am once again on the phone waiting for another couple of hours to speak to someone I am sure, and at this point, you folks are letting MR EASTERN ACCENT act like he is in charge of MY BANK ACCOUNT, in fact he's holding it ransom, isn't he. By hanging up on me like this, that's what he is doing.
I am so tired of having to call in for transactions that I have knowledge of, I cannot understand why this person thought it appropriate to go over this stuff while I am in need of changing my phone number and unlocking my bank card. SHAME ON YOU FOLKS for allowing this kind of "controlling behaviour" to be on the management team of MY BANK ACCOUNT. I am FURIOUS right now, you have NO IDEA

I’ve been with this bank for over 20 years, and I truly love it! The staff are always kind, friendly, and ready to help with any concern. Their systems are super fast and efficient, making every banking experience smooth and easy. I feel completely safe and confident here, and everything they do is top-notch. Five stars all the way!

Yes the colour's are hip and not for…
Yes the colour's are hip and not for alot of us. Actually ide say most th color scheme sucks but customer service smashes tangerine, they process all my mobile depoisted pay cheques in 4 business days. Everyother bank over 1500$ is up to 8days, like tangerine holds it for the full 8 day blanket hold. Simplii by far is the best digital banking available at the moment. They have some things to work on lioe everyone else. But so far simplii is superior
Terrible non-existent customer service
I've tried calling multiple times to the fraud department as directed by their text message. However when calling, it takes a minimum of 30-60 minutes to talk to anyone. But what's worse is the call gets dropped immediately and I have to redo the whole process again. What's insulting is they keep telling you to access your account online or use their chat for assistance, but then the chat says its down and have to call. Their webpage says their open 24hours, probably for how long you'll have to wait before speaking with anyone.

Rishi at the fraud contact center is absolute trash! He takes WEEKS to contact you and then when you're the victim of a scam they wash their hands and say no we can't refund you?! Hell no! I'm taking these fools to court. I know someone else who got their money back on the same situation and am going to sue these pricks
Mortgage inquiry
I had inquired about a mortgage on line with Simplii.
I was contacted by a Amit Thakkar. He took all my information in a timely manner.
I was told that someone from the mortgage department would contact me in about 48 hrs.
that was 5 days ago and I have not been contacted.
I’ve been banking with simplii since…
I’ve been banking with simplii since 2017. I’ve had tons of issues with them such as the cheques doesn’t clear til a week, rude representatives and almost every time I need to check online banking they’re closed for maintenance. Now for the credit card side. I only signed up because my other credit card was lost. They never increased my credit limit even though my credit score is over 800 and I’ve never skipped a payment and pay in full all the time. Now I don’t use the credit card anymore as there are more beneficial cards. I’ve only used it once last month and I got a representative calling me telling me that I need to make a payment as it’s due in a couple of days. I never had one credit card company call me to pay and when I went on vacation I had $8k credit card debt and they didn’t call me about it. I just took an interest hit. I of course told the rep off about all of this and he said if you don’t pay you’ll ruin your chances of a credit limit increase and I said simplii has never increased my credit limit since I joined! I only owed $200 too! They’re bombarding me for $200?! Out of my 12k credit?! What a joke
terrible terrible terrible.
terrible terrible terrible.
had me on the phone for almost 2 hrs waiting both times on different occasions for someone to get on the phone. i applied more then 2 weeks and haven't hard from anyone. i called and they said they were still work on my file. asked why its taking so long. they said sometimes the online does this. interesting. Then i had to call back again the following week and was then told i was wasn't approved. with no explaining why. but at the least they could have called me or sent me an email to let me knew. if i didn't call today i would have continued to be waiting. so unacceptable having me as a customer waiting and couldn't even let me know so i could move on. Simplii Financial a scam and not recommended
Simplii Financial: No Fees, No Service
We opened Simplii Financial accounts while working in Canada, but things quickly went downhill. After trying to make an international transfer of our wages, the bank suddenly blocked all transfers. They then requested additional documents, which we promptly provided — yet instead of restoring access, we were eventually forced to close our accounts.
What followed was 416 minutes of phone calls (plus countless 30–60 minute callback waits). Most calls started from scratch, as if there were no internal notes or communication between agents. It took weeks of effort just to finally be allowed, under supervision, to transfer our own funds to a new bank account elsewhere.
Simplii Financial advertises “no service fees” — and now we understand why: there’s hardly any service at all. The only thing we’ll remember fondly is their hold music, which will probably haunt us forever.
NEGATIVE A THOUSAND STARS!
NEGATIVE A THOUSAND STARS! This is the ABSOLUTE worst bank. STAY AWAY! Customer service is terrible. They all spin tale after tale with inconstant information. I'm in the process of closing my account. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS BANK. I'd rather keep my finances in a shoe box.
worse bank in Canada
worse bank in Canada, Their security system for e-transfers allow hackers to steal money from you, and they dont hold any responsibility for their system mistakes. Very disappointing I thought I was dealing with a real bank and they let hacker just take your money. I am taking my business somewhere else and I hope everyone else do it too before they loose money
