The worst bank I have ever dealt with. Ridiculous NSF fees and overall rude staff. Save yourself the stress find a different bank.
I called in to confirm dates of my discharge dates.
I called in to confirm dates of my mortgage discharge, thinking it was complete. Spoke to Krista Hunter who easily went through the confirmation process. She was a very resourceful person to speak with and everything was looked after. Highly recommend!

I’m currently on sick leave
I’m currently on sick leave. It took months, pages of paperwork, and multiple calls before the initial claim was approved. After paying for yet another physicians note, I have updated my claim. During this time I am making the payments on my own. Now that it has been reapproved, Simplii is claiming I was in arrears which is not possible because they continued to take the money out. Multiple phone calls later and now I have to wait for the next level to review my claim in order to get my money back. I have ALWAYS paid on time. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE result and worst experience with a financial institution. As soon as possible, I will be moving to a different financial institution.
Unacceptable service!
My wife and I have been clients of Simplii of over 10 years. We recently sold our house and deposited the proceeds when we moved to Alberta. After about two weeks, and our payment not showing up, we tried calling and contacting them online to no avail. When we finally got through, we were told we needed to go to a Post Office to confirm our identities, even though we had already provided all the details of the sale including letter from lawyer. After we confirmed our identities, we were told to call to get the hold removed. We did but after speaking to different agents, it is still unresolved. Simply unacceptable!

Recently I had to request some important documents to be filled out and signed by Sympli Finacial, due to poorly designed documents they had to be signed three times, as frustrating as that could have been for my client services person, Shalini, she helped me through the process quickly with absolutely no complaints, I appreciate her dedication to service!

I signed up for a new chequing and savings account online, massive mistake.
For these products they did a hard inquiry on my credit report and are refusing to reverse it. I did not ask for any credit products, just bank accounts with no overdraft protection.
I filed a complaint with their complaints department asking them to reverse the hard credit check, but that I agreed to them doing a soft check (since it is only for bank accounts) and they said they couldn't do it.
Don't walk away from this bank, RUN!

Simplii’s fraud department was…
Simplii’s fraud department was unsuccessful to trace fraudulent cheques that were deposited into my account. Had to re open new accounts, I was told that the negative balance (from the fraudulent cheques) needed to be cleared, as frustrating as it was, I paid it so that the account could be brought to $0 balance and when I called to ask to close the account, I was told there is a cheque for $1000 that is still pending and that needs to be cleared first in order to close the account. A new amount that apparently I have to pay so my account is not in the negatives. My online banking does not show this negative balance and this is news to me because nobody tried to contact me in the last few months since this all happened. I only had found out because I called regarding another matter. Someone here messed up, no follow ups, the fraud department doesn’t do their job properly. DO NOT BANK WITH SIMPLII!!!

Today when I spoke to Renata Arruda, she was able to provide the necessary answers that I was looking for. I thought perhaps I would be on hold for a long time but that wasn't the case it was all of a 1 minute. I have to say my overall experiences with Simplii have been great.

THIS BANK WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE
I've banked with 7 different institutions across Canada, but Simplii? Oh, they take the cake – the absolute worst of the worst. If you're thinking of signing up, DON'T. Run. Seriously. Here's what happened to me:
It all started with their registration process, which I naively thought would be simple. WRONG. Not only did they pull my credit twice – yes, TWICE – completely wrecking my credit score, but as soon as my account was “approved,” they froze it. Just like that. No reason, no explanation. I was told to expect an email in 5 business days. Guess what? It never came. Instead, I wasted HOURS of my life on hold with their offshore, utterly useless, and downright unfriendly customer service reps. It took three calls and endless frustration to get any response.
Finally, I get an email – now I have to go to Canada Post to verify my ID. Fine. Annoying, but I did it. I thought that would be the end of it. Nope. As soon as I finish, they send ANOTHER email demanding I go back to Canada Post AGAIN. Another hour-long call to customer support, another round of apologies, another day of my life down the drain.
But it doesn’t end there.
I started depositing my freelance income through Stripe, a very common payment processor. What do they do? FREEZE. MY. ACCOUNT. AGAIN. No email, no warning, no notification. I try to log in, and it’s blocked. So, of course, it’s back on the phone for another two hours with their inept customer service team.
And what do they tell me?
SIMPLII IS FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. THEY WON’T ALLOW FREELANCE INCOME.
Excuse me? Who the hell do they think they are? They’re a bank. They are not the CRA, not the police, and certainly not some dictatorial regime that tells me where my money can come from.
At this point, I’m ready to lose it. They asked for my sole proprietorship business documents, Stripe statements, everything under the sun – and like a fool, I provided it all. And what do they do? They invent new ways to delay, frustrate, and drive me to the brink of insanity.
SIMPLII SHOULD NOT EXIST. If you value your time, your sanity, and your money, DO NOT touch this bank, not even with a ten-foot pole.
They are incompetent, deceptive, and seem to get some sadistic pleasure out of making their customers’ lives a living nightmare.
STAY. AWAY.
