Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 87 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained that product descriptions were inaccurate, mentioning that items often arrived broken or in a much worse condition than expected. People also noted that shipping and handling fees were excessively high, drastically increasing the final cost of purchases, while starting auction bids frequently exceeded the actual value of the items. Furthermore, shoppers found customer support completely unhelpful and unresponsive when attempting to return damaged goods or resolve order problems. Some reviewers were happy with their purchases, mentioning they found unique designer items and vintage pieces at affordable prices.

The Customer is always WRONG

With Shopgoodwill.com the customer is always WRONG. I won three auctions with Goodwill of the Heartlands (Cedar Rapids, IA). They offered combined shipping, then told me to PICK UP THE ORDER from NEW York. I emailed them three times--no answer. shopgoodwill.com customer service (714 492-1150) ignored the problem. No recourse--everything is entirely in their favor.

Don't buy anything from ShopGoodwill

Don't buy anything from ShopGoodwill. Prices are heavily marked up, you'll have to pay a lot for shipping and you have no return options. It's better to buy something new on Amazon or used on eBay to avoid the headache. In fact, while you're at it, shop a local thrift store instead of Goodwill stores. Goodwill ridiculously marks up prices in their retail stores to match eBay prices... and if you're shopping at Goodwill just to flip things on the internet and turn a profit, get lost. You're the reason prices have increased so much at thrift stores and no one wants you there.

Goodwill Easter Seals Brooklyn Park, MN

Goodwill Easter-Seals in MN has become a nightmare. Almost everything arrives broken now. No Customer Service. Rude and arrogant response to questions. They can provide no details on an item, as everything comes through a warehouse & is stored there. Management never returns calls when I’ve called MN for help. Pkgs are shipped on an untimely basis and consistently late. Poor service all the way!!

Charging tax on shipping and handling?!?

Won a few auctions and took me about three payments before I realized that they are charging tax on the shipping and the handling fees! It the tax is the last thing added to the total price and it includes the price of the item, a shipping fee which is rather high and a handling fee then they base the tax price off of the total of that! They need to be audited!!

I made a purchase for $141 from the…

I made a purchase for $141 from the goodwill of south Texas for a Gucci shoulder bag with a COA. When I received it it looked good however; it had some dirt inside and I wiped it out . When I did blue dye came off the entire inside.
I contacted them and was told that they wouldn’t accept it back.
Beware of the pictures and products you buy.

Not every store is ran the same way

Not every store is ran the same way, some ship the next day after payment. Some ( EVERGREEN, GULF COAST) take their sweet time to even label tehe item, then it sits for days to be shipped ( EVERGREEN) being the worst of all. An entire week after payment, item gets labeled and sits again. SORRY Management-- Excuses are always the same " a little Backlogged". then stop auctioning more ya Einsteins!!!! catch up and then resume auctions. that simple!! GREED and Complacency is the Problem, any complaint is shrugged off. Shipping charges are ridiculous! 81 pound Dyson vacuum?? total weight shipped 14!!! like HOW IN THE Heck do you get 81 pounds. Its way too problematic and frustrating to buy there anymore REGARDLESS of the condition or value of the item. waiting two weeks for a paid item is beyond reason, there are no guarantees EVER! you may get the item, you may not. Like I said, Some stores could learn a thing or two about management and REALISTIC GOALS from the Delaware County Online store. Next day Shipping is the GOAL! to foot draggin for five business days- lord help you on a federal holiday. so yeah, averaging 8-9 days to get items is beyond reasonable. E-commerce is not a NEW thing, yet! I bet the "managers" get paid as if their are saving the world from climate change. LAZY, Complacent, And Over all Greedy AF. Some items are Less NEW from the Manufacturer to add insult to injury. anyway- shop there if you like to gamble. DO NOT shop there if you actually PLAN your purchases and live up to you side of the "deal" they certainly wont. BUT if You feel froggy. Steer clear of Evergreen, thank me later, I know someone will still try it.

You need to watch out for shipping… and customer "service"

You need to watch out for shipping prices and I hate to admit I got caught twice by not checking. This time I ended up paying close to $50 to ship a guitar. Ridiculous. In this case it was Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee. (Watch out for Florida and Texas). The website isn't very good. If you look at an item it won't bring you back to it on the previous page. You have to hunt/scroll to figure out where you were. Also, they should have seller ratings but never will because they know there would be many low ratings. Customer service is a complete waste of time because it only exists to make excuses. They will never resolve anything but just tell you why you are getting screwed. They know who/what they are and they don't care.

Untrustworthy

I found something good on last Friday, and there was an option as "Buy now" and I did. Paid $487 and purchased that item.

This morning I got an email about refund and cancellation of sale. I guess someone at the Goodwill wanted to buy that item and then cancelled my purchase. Weird beavior

Missing items

My local store in Colorado Springs stopped doing the online auctions for awhile. They started back up so I thought I would give it a try again. I was the highest budder on two auctions, for records lots. They don't do pickup, surprised, but ok. Received the records two lots but one lot was wrong. The records were Elvis, and one of the records in the missing lot was possibly worth a lot of money. The second auction I won was a keyboard. This was from Delaware and Delaware county. I received it and it was missing the manual and the power supply. I don't buy things without the power supply, because they can be hard to get or really expensive. It really sucks that Goodwill is horrible. They are supposed to be giving people job skills, but they are giving the workers bad business practices that no other employer wants

ShopGoodwill Ads Are Disruptive To The User Experience

The ads on ShopGoodwill are becoming disruptive to the user experience.

They block the items listed and interfere with the bidding process.

Its becoming worse and worse to the point as a MAJOR buyer on the platform, I am giving up.
Its very tacky for ShopGoodwill to actually use ads.

Ads and pop ups at bottom of page

Whoever came up with the idea to have ads pop up at the bottom of the screen is stupid. Half of the time you can’t hit the button to bid because it’s covered up by an ad that you can’t get by, move, or shrink. I’ve lost several items like this.

Won an auction and item went missing

I just won an auction from the Wilmington DE auction location and after 10 days I messaged them to find out the item I won was missing and several days later of back and forth was issued a refund. Real professional organization Goodwill.

FRAUD ALERT!!!!

FRAUD ALERT!!!!! I signed up for an account but did not put my credit card info in until I was ready to bid. A CONTINUE button was coming up after about every fifth item I scrolled past, and I thought it was to continue setting up my account. It wanted my info again to access my account, then took me to another site to enter my charge card info. After I entered that, it asked me which subscription level I wanted, with the lowest amount being over $70! I realized there was a problem and exited the page. It took a lot of work to find the Real place on shopGoodwill to enter the card info. I also changed my password. Once done, I checked my charge card and found that, sure enough, there was a $70 RECURRING charge on it. Reported as Fraud, and cancelled the card. What a pain! Goodwill should be ASHAMED that they allow a scam company like this to use their website. What the F* are they thinking? They proclaim that they help the disabled, but have no issues with doing unethical things that ruin their reputation and lose customers.
