Really poor management

I was a member of the Nuffield Gym and Spa in Guildford for about 3 years.
During that time I noticed the management of the spa to be very poor even when the manager changed. The management doesn't seem to go around to check for breakages. Until someone mentioned it to management, the lifeguard chair was terribly rusty and unpleasant to look at when you relaxed on the loungers, they simply hadn't bothered to do anything about it.

The jacuzzi which used to be there was out of action SO often for one reason or another. The steam room had a small wall that was broken, no member dare mentioned it because they didn't want the steam room to be closed for over a week, just to fix it, which would happen if anything was wrong, it would take an unreasonable amount of time to solve any problem. The sauna used to be good, kept at a good hot temperature, with a reasonable amount of people using it. The temperature started to become too low, coincidentally at about the same time the energy prices first went up. This made everyone have to stay in the steam room for much longer, to get the same effect you'd get for the shorter time, this then caused the steam room to be overcrowded. They'd put the temperature up for a very short while when it was mentioned, then reduce it again, saying they were having problems with it but they definitely hadn't had this problem in the years before the prices went up.
They also close the steam room to the members, for cleaning. Surely the cleaning should be done when members are not around, we pay for the steam room to be open when we are there. They'd also make you feel rushed when it was nearing closing time. At times they'd ask you to leave the steam room at 8, so it could be cleaned before closing time at 10!

The air-conditioning in the upstairs gym was broken for months during the really hot summer, which made it unbearable to work out. This was not the first time this happened and again it didn't work for months. The weighing scales suddenly disappeared not to be replaced for months. Poo has been left in showers and CUBICLES for members to tell staff. Head office needs to make unannounced visits to the gym and spa to keep an eye on the service.

The pool isn't a huge pool. It has 3 single lanes, then an area approximately 2 lanes wide for slower swimmers to swim clockwise......which not everybody does, causing problems for other swimmers. Often there are lessons going on in the 2 faster lanes, leaving 1 lane for swimmers wanting to get their lengths in, sometimes all3 lanes are used. The swimming pool is used by external teachers to teach children swimming, so those of us who pay a membership are told to move out of our lane to accommodate the children's class, leaving the members no place to swim lengths. As members we pay to swim the lengths we would like, when we would like not when it's suitable for a teacher.

It's a shame because I'd have given them five stars had it not been for the way problems har managed.
