Disturbingly sophisticated unethical practices

I was overly impressed by their facebook marketing, joined the group to realise that they offer discount codes to the members prior to anyone shopping online or instore. It seemed glamorous way to introduce you to the new arrivals with appointed influencers to buy their products. They only post fake and 5 star product reviews on their website that i found very odd at first. I myself ordered a few items and by enjoyed the experience, till i ordered something that was not what i saw photos of online and the material of the product didnt match what the website quoted. I wrote an honest review giving 5 stars for the service still my review never made it to the website. I made a complaint of it as to why do they need to hide behind something this ugly for clothing that makes all of us happy. Never supporting this store again, i felt insulted and somewhat ignored. I then started observing some patterns that i will highlight below, some maybe legal in this crime supported country but unethical.

Their social media presence looks like the best thing in the world and too fake. Ordinary clothing with expensive price tags when not on sale.

They list their products at a price, when the discount is like negligible you get the discount but when its offered like 50 to 60% off then the original retail price changes as well, going up in dollars. Please avoid shopping from this store if you can, order from aussie stores direct even if costs a bit extra in shipping.

They do not do any return refunds but…

They do not do any return refunds but give you a 'store credit code' but you can only use 1 code when you check out so you cannot use your credit with any offers as they also need a code!
And they offer a loyalty program where you earn vouchers but again you can't use them with store credit.
They make sure you cannot use your points or access any offers.
Also the website is shocking - no filters like colour or length of skirt so you have to wade through endless pages. And it doesn't show in store availability of items - this is probably so that you buy online and be more likely to need to return items and fall into the trap of not being able to use your credit with discounts or loyalty points.

No longer a customer.

After being a customer for years the customer service at Shine On has gone down hill in a bad way. I had put the wrong delivery address as it was automatically selected (I thought I had changed it - yes silly me) and I panicked not knowing what to do I consulted the FAQ. It said to immediately email through to the admin email which I did. It also states not to message them on different platforms and basically trust the process. I then wait and the next day I get an email saying my order will be dispatched to the incorrect address. I felt like crying. No phone number and basically no where to go. My parcel is now on the way and I've paid for a redirect. Disgusting service from ShineOn as no email back from them and I messaged them on Facebook which was read but still radio silence. You need to sort the basics guys because I will never ever shop with you again. If you can't have even the most basic of customer service right then it doesn't look good for trust does it? Left high and dry to sort it out myself for an order worth hundreds of dollars. I'll be spending elsewhere next time.

Buyer beware…

Good range of clothes but more expensive than other stockists (of identical products!) and their return policy is awful. Beware of buying anything online you may need to return, you’ll get credit only with 12 month expiry. Strictly no refunds…!

My favourite store

Excellent range of clothes, sizes and styles. Amazing service in-store, the ladies in the Christchurch store are so friendly and helpful, not at all pushy.
They stock many different brands and the sizing can be quite different from brand to brand so I try to avoid online and go in store if I can.
Great customer service.

Extremely rude and uncaring customer service

I have bought quite a few clothing items through shine on which are not exactly cheap! but the last 2 times I have bought my normal size 12 but both items were too big (over sized than normal) and they would not let me exchange either item for smaller sizes, one was on sale and so what? I bought online how would I know the jeans were super stretchy? and the other I wanted to exchange over the 10 days (which is ridiculous compared to all other companies out there) as I was busy moving & didn’t get to it. Customer service was extremely rude both times, uncaring & unhelpful! I now have 2 items worth $150 that are too big for me 🤦‍♀️

Customer service is a nightmare and…

Customer service is a nightmare and their website is terrible!!
They advertise sales to hook you in but then don’t show on their website that they also have another % off sale and the only way to know about this code is if you stumble across their sponsored ads on Facebook which due to algorithms it only pops up AFTER you have made a purchase.
Shipping is overpriced and you can’t use your loyalty points with any other sale or free shipping codes so it’s pretty pointless.

Buyers seriously beware

Buyers seriously beware! This company is good if all goes well, but there is no way of contacting them other than email if things go wrong and they just don’t reply! They also provide no post tracking like other companies do. If I could rate this company lower I would. I ordered two items, the first arrived fast however the one I ordered first never arrived. I emailed their admin as advised who told me to contact their courier company( surely that’s their job?!). I emailed Shine On everyday asking for an update on my missing parcel with no reply. I wanted to order more items but refuse to order from a company with such poor customer service that they can’t be bothered following up with their customer! There’s no phone number and Unlike other online shopping you get no tracking details sent- granted this was two weeks before Xmas but come on, the least you can do is reply and update customers on what you are doing to help? I had one initial reply to tell me to contact THEIR courier and that was it! The courier company were quicker at contacting me. Really disappointed as I would’ve liked to have bought many more things as I like the styles in store but this has totally put me off and if my items don’t arrive I will have to go to the small claims to get my money back- I’m very frustrated by the whole experience!!
