Poetry Comes Alive with Kimba King
St John's School, Northwood was delighted to welcome acclaimed poet, author, and spoken-word artist Kimba King to school today for an inspiring day of poetry workshops with pupils from Years 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Kimba brought poetry to life through his energetic performances and infectious enthusiasm, showing the boys that poetry is not simply about finding words that rhyme. Through a series of engaging activities, the boys explored how poets can use rhythm, rhyme, imagery, wordplay, and figurative language to make their writing more powerful and memorable.
The workshops encouraged the boys to experiment with language, develop their own ideas, and, most importantly, find their own voice as writers.
It was wonderful to see the boys embracing the challenge, sharing their ideas, and discovering just how much they could do with words.
A huge thank you to Kimba for an inspiring and memorable day!
